It's a terrible company to work for. Lazy workers that will do anything to get on with hydro because they don't have to do anything whatsoever, my area supervisor was a total joke for that! Expect to stand around for 12 hours straight no bathroom breaks and be expected to do that for days on end. The pay sucks, overtime isn't worth the extra taxes and you get docked an hour on your travel time, plus zero benefits. Employees are on such a revolving door, dispatch comes and goes with no communication between one another and management has gone through 3 people since Ives started and it wasn't even that long ago. 

If you are desperate for a job it can fill in that void but I would avoid Domcor at all cost, it's a terrible company that will force you into unsafe situations and play it off like it's nothing. There are better flagging companies out there that actually care for their employees, the lack of trust in this company really shows and the rabbit hole only gets deeper the longer you work there. 

The Pine Pass was my *Super Baby*. My day started at 4:30 am. After fueling company truck and picking up crew, we started off on our hour travel through other sites run by DOMCOR . Upon arrival I set up my North Queue and made my way south, setting and adjusting the site, all barrels deliniators and pylons along the way. After setting my south queue, I proceeded to clean all signs, replacing when worn or ruined and thus our long day begins. I releived all TCPs as well as our Pilot truck for coffee breaks  washroom breaks lunches and even just to sit in the truck to thaw out The weather was unpredictable and reached lows of -30 in the mountains.Our day was wrapped up usually about 6:30 - 7:00 pm. Our hour journey home was usually quiet..By the time we reached "home", dropping off an always exhausted crew I got to bed about 9 pm after the completion of my paperwork. .I enjoyed  my job, my supervisors the crews we worked with and for.I would go back in a heartbeat.

Usually I don't write many reviews but I felt the need to do so with Domcor. I hope people who do come on have a good experience but beware of management, supervisors etc as sometimes you'll get mixed messages and you don't really know who to believe. The orientation is very lacklustre or non-existent and when you approach any concerns or need clarity on anything I felt they weren't fully addressed. I feel like some of the managers lack empathy or even conversation skills to be able to discuss if there are any misunderstandings or what could be improved. The best way to put it is on the outside the house looks nice (the way they portray the company to look) but when you go inside it's actually a house in shambles or broken down interior.

A typical day at work would be loading the truck with equipment that is needed for the day. Signage, cones and wind-masters. Driving out to the site to meet with the company that we are working with that day.. Having a safety meeting to go over what is going to be happening, safety precautions that need to be taken to stay safe for us and the public. Then setting up the signage on the highway or road we will be working on. Then providing the safety and direction of the traffic on the roads to avoid dangerous drivers. The hardest part of the job was to control traffic, drivers that didn't want to obey to the rules and signage provided on the roads. The most enjoyable part of the job was to be outside when it is nice and sunny and enjoying the environment and fresh air and wildlife.

* Turnover in management was regular - different methods of report writing, methods of doing things in general, in different work sites, caused friction and doubt in the competency of the supervisors/managers. When rotation changes occurred every week, the above points became problematic.
* I learned about driving on forest roads using the radio protocol required in remote BC areas. I learned more about remote camp life.
* Workplace culture - who you knew was very important. Relatives were a part of this aspect of the job. It was great knowing other indigenous persons were hired. 
* Most enjoyable part of the job- static positions allowed me to enjoy BC wilderness/wildlife more. Getting a large paycheque was great!
* Hardest part of the job- keeping warm in mid-winter, ie. coldest temperatures in the mountains.
* Keeping a close eye on your pay was necessary.

Started out as a good company with lots of work and helpful office staff. Office operations moved to victoria with high turnover rate for office staff which resulted in dispatch not knowing who we were when we needed info for work, they "assumed" people quit. 
*Dispatch issues like being sent to the wrong place, wrong times or just not being dispatched at all 
* Didn't have enough equipment to spread between the ever expanding branches which resulted in loss of contracts
* Non-union
* No seniority, favourites got work even if name requested
* contractors were frustrated by office
* owners have no interest/experience in traffic control. Almost fired people for doing their job

I’ve never had any issues with management, but I’ve heard lots of stories from other people having issues. The company organization is pretty poor overall, and more often than not you have no idea what your days are gonna look like Until you’re on site. There is almost never any kind of schedule, and you won’t know where you’re working or when until the day before. But on the other hand, many of the employees are very dedicated and loyal. There is a fair amount of behind the back talking amongst people, but it is highly frowned upon by management. It’s a decent place to be learn, but with the fixed wages across the board, it can be hard to stay for a career. 

A typical day with domcor was a fast pace if you knew what you where doing it is a long shift sometimes your on your feet a lot it is hard on the back and knees there are times we had to wait to go the washroom times there was no time to go to the bathroom we held it for so long the best part is getting to know all the workers the hard part was doing projects times they were early morning shifts to late shifts I learned to quickly trust my partner with my life I never trust but in this line of work you do have to put your trust in your partner the night shifts where the easy shifts less traffic sometimes I do miss working with domcor 

If you want to loose your cool, Domcor is the way to go. Poor management and favourism practices. The management will take decisions without even discussing or consulting with the experienced staff. No proper job description and everyone does whatever. Micromanagement is through the core and the owner will start questioning your job even when you are not reporting to him. No structure, poor management, politics, talking behind your back, throwing you under the bus are some of the strong suites of this company. Management keeps changing so, you start over with a new person almost every few months. People work here coz they don't have a choice and thats about it. 

Typical day is like that of any traffic control in the industry.  We look out for each other and the company backs us up. 
Management could use a but more structure and reach out more to the employees but you know how to get a hold of them and theu will answer 
More recognition from higher ups could be more frequent 
Workplace culture is awesome we work with amazing teams and contractors and help build relationships with those clients 
Hardest part of the job is like any other tcp/lct workplace in the industry, sometimes the work dries up but if your reliable and hardworking and keep a good attitude good things come
