Drive Test

Management abuses it's power of authority,
they favour and discriminate. Those that advance are family or friends of management. The pay seems fair at first glance but once working there, not paid enough for the job. They also only give you 2 or 3 days a week to work, it's not enough to support family or pay rent and can't work a second job because you have to be ready and willing to work for them when they need you. Also if Driver Examiner then your life is at risk and in danger multiple times everyday. There's a union but union supports the company not its due paying members. This place isn't what it's initial image portraits it to be. Impossible environment, not enough time provided by management to perform duties of the job. Customers waiting hours for service. Emoyees are set up to fail, management lacks real leadership and sadly employees, Customers and tax payers, suffer the consequences of this company poor leadership. Shame on MTO for hiring this company

Most days are spent helping people of all cultural backgrounds, physical/mental capabilities and walks of life. If you sincerely enjoy helping people your day will be most enjoyable and time will fly by.

A few of the things I learned at DriveTest were: How to talk to people, Deescalate situations, and warm the hearts of the customers whilst giving them a confidence boost (if needed).

It seems that management at DriveTest often receives a bad rap but I never personally had any issues. From my experiences they are simply doing the best they can given the hurdles this specific industry throws at them. There are days when this job environment can feel like an “adult daycare”

Most enjoyable part of job: helping customers/ occasional travel opportunity.

Hardest part of job: working evenings or anytime when there are no customers.

As many of the other former employees I experienced the same thing. Management would not allow you to learn the job and slowly improve your skills, instead right from the start they expect you be perfect within 2-3 weeks of training. I had three different trainers which has different views and ways to do the same thing. Even the senior management makes wrong decisions but no one cares. Probably they don’t like the male CS representatives. Without any solid reason they suddenly declared “You did not perform as per our expectations and hence you have to leave”. Worse place and worse management to work with…. 

I cannot say I enjoyed working here but that is not a reflection on the company. The customers were often times rude, unmanageable, and down right terrible to have to listen to. Because of this I hated working here. But my manger was nice and friendly and understood when I had to leave due to the fact that I was on contract, quickly losing said contract, and was newly pregnant and needed something more substantial. Otherwise, they had a cafeteria and the people were funny, friendly and great for a laugh.

You're expected to attend training out of the city you're actually working in, you're constantly micromanaged and timed for performance, the washrooms and common rooms are disgusting, too much is expected of you for little remuneration. Pay isn't proportionate to this job. 

VERY Toxic work environment. Management chooses favourites. It's an us (employees) vs public mentality. They treat applicants with contempt and see them as like cattle. Eff this place.

its acceptable, plus you are too busy to interact with coworkers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
extremely busy from open to close

You are expected to test as many people as possible everyday regardless of situations or length of time of the test depending on traffic etc this will cut into your break and or lunch time.  It is stressful so really consider the dangers of the job driving on a highway in the winter with someone who has no winter driving experience.  You do not have a brake.  

There is no respect for your time.  The company is only concern with how much you bring in the business. You are timed for all your breaks even the ones you are paid for.  You punch in and out for everything. Management is very poor in every way.  Training is very misleading than when you are physically there.  The supervisor is very unprofessional. The job is very repetitive.

Basically the training is terrible and with too much information that does not help at all. Stressful as well. Once you are working the schedule is always changing and never have 2 days off fixed and worst part is MANAGEMENT doesn't care about employees but making the goals on times.

Supervisors are completely overworked and expected to do everything without help. The people are amazing, loved my co workers, but uper management doesn't care if you're drowning and need help. Salary is decent, but these days it doesn't go too far. It's good for a part time job, but I wouldn't be able to stay for long.
