E-Can Oilfield Services LP

Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because as good as it was comparatively to other places I've been in the industry, it has some major shortcomings that may effect people more than I.

I'm sure experiences will vary now as times and employees change. After making an indeed I thought I would write an interview here seeing that alot of interviews for places are either terrible or great.

Disclaimer: I worked mainly out of Fort Kent 2013-15 and each shop had its own culture.

Pros: got to run multiple units. Able to be fairly involved in truck maintenance. Mechanics took the time to teach you very in depth how things work and would show them apart if you'd take the time. Opportunities for crosstraining and supervisors and safety would explain business, compliance, set up and execution of a safety program. Advancement based on being part of the clique (I was not nor was I ready for it at that stage in my career). Only place where 90% of Co workers were switched on and I learned more in this one place then anywhere else in the industry and I've now spent 14 years in trucking/heavy equipment as an operator, trainer, dispatcher and crew chief. Also, we could pick our shift.

Cons: head office poorly managed. Customer service terrible. No sales person which at the time of having 400 drivers/operators was insane. Never adapts to market, jobs or customers. Pay was just industry average at the time with no wiggle room for top guys and no rrsp matching.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The supervisors were very helpful and approachable and the trucks were parked in a heated large tented area, making pre and post trip inspections very easy and and comfortable to complete.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The commute to and from work being the job was at lease sites around the surrounding area.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly, I found most everyone easy to get along with.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Repetitive but mixed in with different jobs from time to time.

I learned a lot of useful administrative skills while working there. I had a good rapport with my direct supervisor who was the vice president/financial controller, but I felt that after doing my job well for over 2 years, I wanted to learn more areas of the office, and was not given a chance to advance when other positions opened up, instead they would hire other new employees, and I found this to be unfair as I applied internally.

My supervisors & co-workers were friendly and helpful people to work with. If you had a question or weren't sure about something they were ready & willing to give you an answer or help you out. Very respectful people. 
The pay was average but they provided opportunities to train on a variety of equipment so that your work hours were steady. 

they care about their long tender employee and it was only second job in my life and i found it very rewarding because I had spent 20 some years in the Army .I worked at Ecan for better part of ten years and then went and worked at DLM oilfield serv. for about 4 years until they bankrupt.

E-Can was a great place to work everyday was faced with new challenges which lead to new learning process. the office staff got a long well very friendly. E-can has a great management staff. very well structured company and pleasant to work for.

Management would complain about 2 employees(who were married) missing work when they would take their child for leukaemia treatments and when their child got sick during treatment. Management believed the couple was using their child’s illness as an excuse to avoid work.

Great job, great co workers, great employers easty company to work for , they care about their employees , job duties are fair and communication is very good with employees and employers

Room for advancement 
They train for new equipment 
If you work hard they value it

E-Can was a very different northern camp setting. there many different walks of life and made it very easy to settle in. Unfortunately there was a down turn in the economy that resulted in many of us losing our jobs.
