I've been working with Embr for a couple of months now and I have to say they are one of the best promotional agencies in Greater Vancouver. The regional supervisor here is super professional and responsive and doesn't treat you like just a number. The only thing closest to a "con" is that there isn't really any work on days other than Friday or Saturday, but that is to be expected since those are the busiest times of the week at liquor stores. Embr is based in Toronto after all so maybe there are other events (e.g. other than liquor-related ones) out there. 

I'd highly recommend working with them to anyone who is in school full-time or just wants to make some extra cash on the weekends.

They advertise $22 per hour for 4 hour shifts as a brand ambassadors. Then once you take the job they tell you about extra work that has to be done without extra pay. Between unpaid training sessions, picking up needed items for shift, and writing a report after the shift each “4 hour shift” can be more than 6 hours. When I mentioned that the extra time brings the pay to less than minimum wage I was told that they do not pay by the hour as it is a flat rate for “contract work”. Contract work should not be an excuse for a company to get away with paying below the minimum wage. Accepting the job with embr was a huge mistake and highly recommended people stay away from them.

I work at Embr Head Office, and it's a great place for anyone who is motivated to learn and grow quickly. They offer a learning program that allows you to spend time out of your day to learn and build new skills that allows you to progress in your role. 

All of the staff really work together and your voice is heard during brainstorms and other staff meetings. Requires you to be a self-starter and show initiative but the opportunities are definitely there if you take them.

I don't find anything stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I just work with the public. You don't actually work with anyone from the company.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I only work 4 hours and hand out samples to the public.

I worked for embr on May 24th and still haven’t been paid. There was a mishap on the report they tell you to make such as the site only works on mobile devices and has logged me off and changed my password without my consent therefore delaying my pay. I sorted it all out and sent the report but still haven’t received payment, and no one seems to care or able to help. Will not be working for them and discourage all from joining their “team”.

If you enjoy being on your own and responsible for creating sales and excitement while serving beer/wine in LCBO store locations, this is a great gig! You have to give up weekends is the only downfall. Working with Embr is satisfying work pretty good pay for the amount of time you spend on events, however the time you spend picking up supplies and writing up your reports is not compensated for.

I really enjoy working for EMBR, However, Unfortunately there are not enough hours at this job to allow for me to hold only one job. Hours are my choice but have to compete with others in my area for the available shifts.
It would be helpful for more informative training. Although we work with different companies we are unable to taste prior to a tasting. This makes it hard when a customer asks for our personal feed back.

You are expected to arrive 15mins early to do a bunch of job-related tasks and 15mins after to clean up and get the info you need to report and get paid. supervisors will edit your reports to only say 4 hours. it does not matter if it is contracted or not you are entitled to be paid for work done. overall don't work for them if you can avoid it.

A great opportunity for contract work as a Brand Ambassador. The best tasting company I have worked for in the GTA.

Management in the region was great and really responsive, helping with any questions that I had in the field.
