This is a good job for students with a decent starting wage and flexible hours. Part timers are only required to work 16 hours per week, one day of which must be either Saturday or Sunday. 

Full timers get more money but generally have much less flexibility in scheduling. 

The work is very physical (building pallets of product using a headset) and gets quite boring after you've been there a while. It is also quite lonely as all orders are timed through the headset and therefore unless you are extremely fast at the job, you don't have a lot of free time to spare while still hitting performance targets. 

You can eventually move on to other tasks such as reach truck operator or loader once you've been there for a while.

There are hourly wage bonuses applied for hitting certain performance targets on a per paycheck basis.

Management is generally fairly nice but is under pressure to have employees on their team hit performance targets and that can show in their interactions with employees.

Wages increase based on total hours worked rather than any sort of merit system, and cap out after a certain number of hours. There is also nearly always overtime available for those who wish to work extra hours. 

It is also a unionized job so there is some protection there against any sort of abuses from the company itself, though there is always a bit of a tug-of-war going on between the union and the company, over what is acceptable and what is not.

Overall it is not a very fulfilling job for anyone with any real ambition, but is a workable option if you really need a stable job that can often provide overtime hours in order to pay for any financial shortfalls.

I liked the job at first, couldn't say that lasted long though.

Management|
Management is a disaster and lacks any organization. People are nice and all, but that's no excuse for not having enough equipment, and putting too much pressure despite that. In the warehouse they use a Voice Picking System which uses a headset, a mic part, and a Vocollect all of which they don't have enough and are mostly broken. There are not enough pallet jacks. The location where I worked had 2 different brands of pallet jacks: Yale and Crown. For Crown they also have centre contol pallet trucks which you won't be trained to use until you're done with probation (but they always have them available but can't be used). They also recently brought some end control pallet jacks (or walkies) from their Surrey location but those are restricted to those with "higher seniority" which makes no sense and were also never used. For Yale they have 3 types: the single jacks and what we would call the old ones and new ones, but funny enough the old ones were the only good ones. The single jacks and new ones had terrible stirring, speed control issues, were loud and sometimes would have swipe card issues and were uncomfortable. The old ones only 2 out of the 20 or 30 machines had problems with the coast buttons which wasn't that big of a deal.
They have too many problems they don't take a look at or try to solve.
They rely too much on the coaches as well.

Training|
There are a few coaches are great, helpful, and also respectful (with the exemption of few to my understanding, but that's common everywhere. I also never had  to deal with them personally). They are good but not enough of them which is also a due to the most part of their staff being new hires.

Working at EV Logistics is something you'd expect working at a warehouse. My position here was picking orders at a very high pace. What made me leave this company was that at EV Logistics, I just felt very lonely. As you are put in a room picking orders for the whole day. Even on breaks/lunch break, you can't really communicate with your co workers in the break room because they all usually have their own groups that they talk to, and most of them prefer to be alone and eat their lunch. But aside from that. The supervisors at EV Logistics are very fair on how they operate the warehouse. I don't have any complaints about them as they were very nice and tried to help me get settled within the company. The two trainers are very nice as well. Some co-workers are mean, as one time I was trying to get by someone and their machine, but he just refused to and just parked his machine in the middle of aisle and continued picking his orders ? There are some helpful guys , but there are also those workers that will hate on new workers. To be honest now, I like how the company strives for safety within the workplace, but there is no way that we can work safely picking at such a high pace with such little time to do the order. You'd have to be natural with the job.

I worked in the finance department for a few months and was given a performance letter early on. I was open to improving, but I didn’t get much support or clear direction when I needed it. Instead, the director kept bringing up how great the previous person who worked for years was, which made it feel like I was never really wanted in the role.

Not long after I was let go, they gave the job to someone who was already working in another department. That happened so fast, it made me question if the decision to replace me was already planned.

The whole experience was discouraging. The way things were handled by leadership felt unfair and dismissive. I wouldn’t recommend this department to anyone expecting support or a fair chance.

On a typical day we would come into work, and we would start off with a morning meeting on the floor. This is where the jobs for the day are assigned, based on seniority in the union. We could be put on another job at any moment as well. In my time at EV Logistics, I learned: Loading, unloading, putaways, letdowns, and picking. 

I was trained and received certifications on: Narrow Aisle Reach, Dock Stacker, and Electric Pallet Jack at Ev Logistics. 

My co-workers were great. We always had a laugh, even when our day just was not going right. 

The hardest part of the job would have been the first two years when i was mostly picking. We would lift 50 pound boxes all day, building pallets. We also had strict performance monitoring which forced us to work harder and faster. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was the days that we finished work early, and either got to go home, or were put on a better job such as driving the reach truck or loading.

EV Logistics is a terrible place to work.
Management is a mess, and their health coordinator is incompetent. 

People are constantly getting injured due to the fast pace environment and competitive picking rates. They care more about performance than they do about the employee.

My pay was never accurate to the hours I worked. This is a common problem at EV.

I am also dating someone of the same gender. We were told at the beginning of our employment to hide our relationship status as people would be hostile towards us.

My health representative avoided my calls for over a month (would answer my gf's calls) and would not clear me to go back to work, firing me after for not getting in contact with her... right before my benefits kicked in at 480 hours. Suspicious timing for sure.

Some supervisors were nice, but others seemed to enjoy making employees lives miserable. 

Do not recommend.



The job consistently misses hours and worked and multiple people I know have missed big amounts of money from them.
Good luck trying to get paid for any pay discrepancies, you’ll probably have to get a lawyer.
Management is awful and never seems to know anything that’s going on HR wise.
HR is awful and doesn’t want to support the worker at all.
They force injured and sick people to quit and have no empathy, whatsoever.
Fellow coworkers are nice and very helpful.
Don’t expect respect or the supervisors to be nice. 
Safety is their number one priority but they also expect you to work fast and crazy efficient. It’s not possible to be safe and be working how they want you to, without breaking your body. I’ve almost been hit by machines multiple times by people trying to go fast, too.
There are never enough machines and equipment.
This company does not care about its workers and I would not recommend working here. Please do yourself a favour and get a job somewhere else. 

Where do I start? Order picking is well...
As any job of this quality you are trained for about a week.
 The only issue with this training is you are sucked in usually by someone in management for the first few days, expect to be doing a ton of paperwork.
 After a few days they transition you to a 'trainer'. The only issue is that the trainer should have been training you from the start. It went from smiles to - not so much.
This is not an enjoyable job experience.
The 'trainer' takes you around shows you what to do, shows you how to operate machinery you will be using in everyday work, but does not quite explain how to use your headset.
Now the headset in this job is a joke. You will lose your mind with this headset, you will be repeating 'Say again??' about 10 times a freaking day. Oh and make sure your order is on time, or your pay gets docked. The whole system is messed up, did I mention how high the let-go rate is?
You're dispensable to this company, they don't care about you. And they will have you working like a slave horse.

There was a specific rate you were supposed to be able to pick at, and it was really high.  To make it worse, however, we had to stack our products above our head height and keep it together on this motorized pallet jack without the products toppling or breaking as we stacked the boxes and drove at speed.

Very, very stressful.  As someone who is not super quick at wrapping and stacking, I sometimes had boxes fall off and then would spend half an hour trying to clean up the mess of cat litter or whatnot.

And then they would talk to me about why my picking rate was below the 90 that was expected.\

The discussions among people there were virtually unanimous - getting in was easy, staying in was nearly impossible.  Ev Logistics LOVES to hire people and then fire them just as their probation ends.

Each day seemed long and very stressful. I Learned you can not meet expectations for this company without risking your safety. Poor Management they would rather bring in new people to train rather to show respect to their senior employees. It was very difficult working with certain co-workers due to the lack of respect and lack of understanding of the majority of the co-workers due to the fact that 90% of the work force were not of English speaking Origns and it was hard to communicate and to be able to point out unsafe behavior. The Hardest part of the job was to complete my tasks safely as well as up to expectations. The Most Enjoyable part was getting to go home at the end of the day.
