I was offered a job at Eco Calgary in early 2020 and I couldn’t have been more excited. I had even turned down another offer that same day to take it. Unfortunately, what was once the best position I’d ever had eventually turned out to be an emotionally and mentally distressing mess. When I started, the office manager was light hearted, easy to approach and overall a phenomenal individual to work for. This started to change over the course of time and it quickly became a very uncomfortable place to work. A great deal of hostile meetings, an intolerable atmosphere and a lot of finger pointing. The salesman are also very difficult to work with. They are held at a very high standard in the Calgary office but truly make working there a job. In my opinion, some staff are given an unimaginable workload, not compensated fairly and expected to much more than one person is capable of. My age was mentioned a lot throughout working here as well and I feel as though I may not have been taken as seriously as a result. Quite honestly the most disappointing and disheartening experience I’ve had since I began working. I’m only giving two stars instead of one due to a few friendships made while being there. 

usually repair 8-10 chairs on an average day lately it is very slow and you are more likely to be repairing 2-3 chairs a day but there is lots to learn there are many great people to learn from unfortunately there seems to be a lot of confusion in the upper ranks that tend to have a very negative impact on the actual service being done and they seem to make it up as they go instead of listening to the people that have the knowledge.
Getting away from the grind, it is very team ordinated and it seems to ease the trouble of working on some of the "dirty" chairs but in the end when it is all said and done, you know that you helped someone keep their mobility and their independence, and those things I think we all take for granted.

I enjoyed working here very much. Very easy going when it comes to needing to request time off for personal or medical reasons. They also handled the covid restrictions and regulations very professionally. I unfortunately didn't see eye to eye with management when it came to quantity of tasks vs quality of tasks. They prefer quantity over quality which is understandable but I found that quality of job completion suffered when quantity was the focus. 

The job started off well, but over time it became apparent there was poor training in some areas.  There was a lot of yelling and blame. Most feedback was very abrasive and to be honest degrading.  

It seemed  quantity over any real quality was valued.  Often things were not very organized or planned as well as they should have been.  

Pros- Some Friday’s there were nice treats brought in by management for the staff.  They did show appreciation.  The owners were very likeable and mostly  easygoing and treat employees fairly.  



There can be days where it's hectic and fast paced, but it makes the day go by faster. They get a lot of customers. Co-workers are very helpful and the company generally cares about you and your well being. They are always sending people for training. Management is always busy doing something but do find the time to talk to you. Helping a customer and finding what they need helps me go home with the feeling I've done something good for someone today.

I have seen the company grow and change rapidly since I started. We have an amazing legacy team with highly regarded reputations in our industry. Ownership is investing into the growth of our people and improving our resources and IT systems. Ownership truly cares about the wellbeing of those that work at the company and have shown flexibility and empathy consistently in times of hardship for their people. 

I would highly recommend this company to friends and family.

A typical day at work was doing purchase orders and answering calls. I learned a lot about mobility equipment and aids.  I worked with numerous client and therapists to make sure their needs were met in an efficient, courteous manner. The staff and work culture was definitely the most enjoyable part of this position. It was a team environment where everyone worked together and helped each other out. 

the higher ups support you, but there is LITTLE to NO TRAINING, which is annoying when you need to correct all the time or you get calmly yelled at for doing it incorrectly. theres also a major difference when working at the recycle building (manual side) and the main building (power side), the recycle building is very and i mean very quiet, no one talks to each other but its the complete opposite in the main building. 

Eco has grown tremendously in the past few years but has done well to maintain the "family feel" that many enjoy.  It feels great to work in an industry that helps improve customer's lives every day, though it is certainly not without it's challenges.  It can be a very fast paced, stressful environment, but there are a lot of great co-workers there to support you.

easy to get the job they take anyone so you see a lot of new people and most of people there dont bother learning who you are until you have been working there some months and when you do get to know them they all talk behind your back about you and HR people go around to people soliciting complaints to give them self something to do so all in all a toxic place to work.
