People receive promotions here based on who they know and not based on their quality of work. Not unusual for management to be supervising their own children (and often promoting their own children/family members).

I worked there for over 5 years, both in the pack room and for Sanitation and many of the staff are lovely. 

Sanitation management (in particular the later shift Sanitation management) leaves a lot to be desired and is extremely unprofessional. I’ve found the supervision on Sanitation to be far more likely to break the union contract as well.

Day shift management is a lot better generally however the work life balance working day shift in the Pack Room sucks. Due to working with live animals if machines break down or there is a large kill for the day you may end up working well beyond 8 hours a day. They also often mandate overtime on Sundays. It was not unusual to work 10-12 hour shifts during the week and then still have to work on Sunday. Very inconvenient for families and also for booking appointments.

Working in the pack room is very cold, especially if you are in a position where you need to stand still.

Working on Sanitation can be very warm (from steam from hot water) and in the summer especially overheating and passing out can be more of a risk but I never had any problems.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They pay more than most places in the valley that don’t require advanced education.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
If you’re a hard worker, they’ll pile more and more work on you while lazy people get away with slacking off

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s full of favouritism and hostility between different shifts and departments.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depends on who you are. Some people are good at finding the best spots to stand around and chat all day, other people are literally worked off their feet doing the jobs of two or three people. If you’re lucky you’ll only have to do one person’s job, and wonder if you’ll be working 8, 10, 12 hours or if you’ll get an actual weekend off.

The pay is good, but take away union dues and extremely expensive (and not very good) benefits, it’s actually not that great. Never know when you’re off, or if you’re working a 6 day work week or not. The union is useless and the company constantly finds loopholes in the collective agreement. The more work you do, the more gets piled on, and when you’ve had enough, that’s too bad. Do the work of 3 people and “because you’re union” can’t get paid anymore. The favouritism is absolutely horrendous, and even simple things as how long we’re supposed to work, and rules such as punching out for breaks and the bathroom simply don’t apply if you’re a favourite. But don’t you dare bring favouritism up to management “you don’t want to bark up that tree”. Unless you absolutely need the money, and you’re a butt kisser, do not apply here. It’s not worth it. 

I worked there since the beginning of ‘12. It is the typical production plant. Riddled with  favouritism and disconnect between management and employees. For an example, I am in “ trouble “ for absenteeism (defined as missing time from work station in minutes and/or days) but my coworker beside me has worked 1/3 hours on their pay stub and is not even on the “radar” for absenteeism.
Or another example, two employees ask for specific hours of the same day off and get totally different answers. Time off was supposed to be acquired via “employee time app” but rarely shows updated schedules and employees were always complaining that it always denied their request even if it appeared to be open.

Working in Eden Valley Poultry Inc. has a good started workplace cold environment engage on production works and physical demands of every employees specifically in production line. Productive, target goals and to deliver quality product on time to the customers.

We have fun workplace with recreation held every year like family day, football games and can have a gym membership for a cheapest price for all employees.

Eden Valley Poultry Inc. has also offered every employees on hired of full benefits after six months or a year of service.

Productive workplace loud and noisy union over rules. Working on the floor was very satisfactory main staff worked with was awesome issue with union and nonunion employees too much favouritism from management i.e. I was nonunion .

a typical day can start as 8 hours but ends up being so much more. No work like balance. It is not a good position for someone who enjoys time with your family.

No work life balance long days terrible management  medical sucks union is terrible  don’t know there head from there butt they couldn’t organize if they tried stay away this place is Toxic !!

fun place with supportive management. Not all about the numbers but how you personally grow and develop. Decent amount of red tape and politics, but this is expected of a big company.. The most enjoyable part was working beside my colleagues and learning from them.
