Probably the easiest job you can work while some shifts can be more difficult than others, but can be manageable even during the busiest shows. The downside is when you're working on a quiet day, a four shift can feel like an eternity.

Both staff and management are very friendly and easy to get along with, although there can be an odd difficult one to work with. 80% of the staff previously worked the Expo when it was owned by Northlands before the city took over. So they still carry the same values from Northlands that are much needed everywhere and the new owners (City of Edmonton) could not adapt to that. 

Biggest downside is the low hours with expected low pay. Expo season runs from September to late April. You could even go up to three weeks without a shift during Expo season and you'll be lucky if you score 3 shifts in one week. From personal experience, the average shift is about 5 hours, but usually 4. So this can be a nice little second job, but wouldn't make it your primary one.

The limited from around December 19-20 to mid January 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is good, no matter the department everyone is friendly 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It can consist of a number of different things, such as washing and putting away dishes to working a clearance station or helping to set/take down a buffet. It dependant on the events happening in the building that day.

every day was different. I learned how to set tables hotel style, and everything else that comes with banquet serving. The place is poorly managed, the staff are overworked, and underpaid, and under-appreciated. The only thing that made the job worth while were the people I worked with. The hardest part of the job was working 13+ hours with no over time and only one or two breaks in between

Work relatively quickly, there are easy days, there are hard days, and this is usually the case in any workplace 😊. 
This  is a place worth working in. It's just a shame it's part time and not full time. 



Don't work here. I've been here for almost 8 years and it's very cliquey when it comes to the office people. If you're part time you might get at max 5 shifts a month and they refuse to train people in new areas. Guest Experience managers have favorites so don't expect to get a higher position like supervisor without sucking up to them.

Typical day at work contains a restock of bathrooms or taking out garbage at the start of my shift. Afterwards, I proceed to where the events are taking place (Hall A, Hall B, etc.) and sweep/mop any dry or wet spills. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is the people, I have met only kind, fun and considerate people working at the Expo over the last year.

The hardest thing about working at the expo is leaving thinking it would impact my friend who works there. I quit abruptly after my grand parent died and I had asked for the days off for her funeral and the arrangements. I did enjoy working with some of the people there primarily the ones in the pastry department. 

Hard work for little pay, shifts are scattered. Very strict with little wiggle room, conform to what they want you to be not who you are. The staff show little respect for the job.

Happy place to be around. Great place to be if you enjoy being around people. Management is very accommodating for all your needs. If you like attending events there are free tickets given out occasionally.

i’ve had a blast working with this company. some parts may be boring but so is any job. the management is good, i’ve met INCREDIBLE people and don’t really have a time where i’m not looking forward to going to work there (sometimes lol)
