Not sure how I feel about this place. Worked as an Operations Associate there for a while. The environment is friendly but there were problems with the supervisors and QA in my area. There did seem to be different treatment between some employees and some supervisors. The operations supervisorveli for my area definitely had favourites and teachers pets. He treated others who weren't his favourites quite poorly. I have never encountered this sort of treatment anywhere else, in any of my previous jobs. It was poor. It was jerky behaviour on his part, and poor of the higher ups to overlook this. QA team for my area were hit and miss. The lady who trained us, also worked as QA and she had a rotten attitude towards me. The HR girl was two faced and insincere and unprofessional. Other than that there were activities like pizza day, and breakfast pancake day, and cakes to celebrate different activities.

I typical day for myself would include being in charge of the organization of all system defects that are currently uncovered in our system.  This would include a dashboard that I developed and testing to confirm that they are actual system defects.

Then I would be required to develop and review Quality Assurance test scripts for upcoming and ongoing development project.  After Script are completed and signed off I am required to confirm that the test environment is set-up correct are ready for myself and my other team members to able to properly test approved scenarios.

One of the biggest obstacles that I come across is when setting up test environments sometime deployment is not correctly completed or not completed on time which causes the testing time to be shortened, causing myself to have to put extra hours to properly complete the projects within the project deadlines.

Do not be fooled by the 'Great Place to Work' awards; those apply strictly to full-time internal employees. Contractors are treated as disposable numbers. The training is inadequate, ignoring the complex issues you actually face, and when you reach out for help in the monitered group chats, management can take a long time or ignore you. This creates a rigged system where you are left waiting on hold for answers that never come, which tanks your performance metrics. Since shift bids are tied strictly to speed and luck-based stats (like whether a random caller happens to add a beneficiary), the environment forces you to choose between rushing customers with minimal answers to secure a decent schedule or doing your job correctly and being punished with bad shifts.

Built and mentored teams within the projects and divisions I worked in.
Environment was consistently changing due to government regulatory changes, economic conditions and customer engagement.
Leadership roles in the work I completed for each division.

My stint at Embark left me disappointed for several reasons:

The relentless workload created a consistently stressful atmosphere, making it challenging to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Despite dedication, there was a lack of tangible career growth opportunities. Promises of professional development proved empty.

The company sets unattainable targets for CSRs, and this trend has persisted for months without any representative achieving them.

Embark proved to be an unfavorable workplace with a stressful environment, limited growth prospects, and unrealistic expectations for its employees. Prospective candidates should weigh these factors carefully before considering employment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Depends on which department you’re in. A lot of the senior managers don’t take priority in lower level staff and expect a lot, but aren’t able to help you. Customers are nightmare fuel. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very cliquey. If you’re in with the right people then the world is your oyster. If you’re not in with those people, good luck ever moving up in the company. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in, get your work done, leave.

Embark is a super busy place to work since we have just gone through a huge transformation over the past 3 years. It has definitely been a learning journey. The skills I have developed from change management; new technologies; project management are invaluable in my career. The work culture is really good. We are only required to be in the office for 2 days per week. The hardest part of the job is all the priorities and having to be great at time management. The most enjoyable part is all the people. The staff here are amazing.

I worked as a customer service rep answering calls, but customers sometimes need you to send them things. There are other responsibilities besides answering calls but they only give you time to answer calls. If you go off queue for even a second a manager will immediately message you and ask you to come back on. They 100% only trust customers and believe that they are always right even when their not. Many of the customers are  upset with the company  and they still do not help resolve their issues.

During my time in Knowledge first, I saw a lot of people start from lower paying jobs and grow their roles into other parts of the company and get more important better paying jobs. 

Immigrants are always welcome even with no Canadian experience. 

Management is logical and reasonable and creates good culture.

There are lots of legacy systems, but lots of new technology as well. Management makes a lot of efforts to bring technology up to date.

My colleagues were incredibly unwelcoming and rude. The management does not want to help you. The owner was very condescending. They do not help you make any sales in the beginning so you never actually learn anything. They were also beyond unprofessional and I would never recommend anyone working here. Oh, you also have to pay for your exams to essentially work there... You have to pay for your training and licensing and when you are ready to work, nobody will help you learn how to make sales so you end up loosing even more money. It is all commission based.
