For me. All I wanted was to be able to work part time, on the weekends, and while a part of me wants to work every last shift available to make more money, what appealed to me about Embr is that I can, but I’m not locked in to it… I have the freedom to make a choice! I can work every weekend (if shifts are available) but I can also not bid on shifts if I want to have time to myself to go out watch a movie etc. Also a perk is that you pick the location so you can easily even manage a shift based on where you plan to be after work so if you had plans for dinner out you could bid to work in the area close to that. 

Amount you get paid is clearly shown upfront before you bid, where you will work, what product you will promote, and the date and time. 

Since each tasting is not at the same place. It can take time to find out if they have the supplies there or you need to bring it with you/or buy it near by. Everything is reimbursed as long as you have receipt and send it in on time. 

One of the interesting thing is you don’t need a car.  You do not have to have a license to drive to work for Embr tasting. Since you can commute and you can bring the bowl and buy ice nearby. Most jobs like this you need to bring all the supplies with you so a car is a must and you will not be hired if you don’t drive. 

Management lots of support pre and post. Have questions just ask. Very responsive. Communication is good both ways. They want you to confirm you can still do the shift few days before and the day of. 

I haven’t been paid yet cuz I just did my first shift yesterday so I cannot comment on the pay experience yet but my coworker who referred me said that area is all good and you get paid after they process your shift report and as you work you’ll start getting regular deposits so the wait won’t seem as long. They pay as they are worked not weekly/monthly etc like most standard jobs. 

Because this is considered contractor work, you will do your own taxes. This means they don’t tax your income before paying you. This also means you need to keep all your work receipts and note down expenses as they reimburse you for this via your pay checks. 

The experience itself at the store was great. The local staff are aware of your role and what’s required and some will even help you make a sale by coming over to help you with a few tastings so that you get the hang of what to do to encourage them to commit to a bottle of wine. 

I really liked the role, time went by pretty fast, and with noting down the number of samples and taking notes of comments the shift went by really quickly as you always had something to do between tastings. And it’s nice it’s indoors and in a safe place with other workers. 

The only con I can think of for some people is you do need to pay for supplies upfront such as tasting cups/the beverage you’re handing out samples of, and things like a bowl for ice and the ice itself… you do get reimbursed but some people may not be okay paying $50-100+ for supplies and wait 5-7 days to be reimbursed. 

You do need to allow a bit of time pre and post shift to set up and clean up and yes that’s not paid but again, you have your freedom to do the shift or not, so it’s a little give and take. If you don’t like doing a tiny bit of work without pay then go work for retail jobs where they dictate your shifts and you don’t work a minute unpaid. 



What is the best part of working at the company?
Great part time opportunity, 4 hour shifts, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday availability, meet great customers and expand your knowledge on alcoholic beverages.  If you are a good worker by showing initiative and available on short notice, you will be offered more shifts.
Supplies purchased related to each tasting are paid, on line reports are required to be completed within 24 hours in order to be paid within 7 to 10 days.
The hourly rate is good, but should be paid 4.5 hours to allow for the set up and tear down of the demonstration area.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I do not find working for Embr Events to be stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work individually, vehicle required, engaged manager that offers support when needed

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
No high pressure sales, engage customers, ask for feedback on the sample(s) provided and offer help because they think you work at the LCBO.

I really enjoyed working here! The job was energetic and social, making each shift engaging. Sales targets were reasonable, and management was supportive in most aspects. The pay was good, and the ability to choose your own shifts and locations made work/life balance very manageable.

Unfortunately, I had to leave due to a knee injury that required minor accommodations. I requested the option to use a stool or chair for short breaks when needed, but my request was denied, making the job physically painful for me. This was disappointing, especially since I consistently exceeded sales targets and had hoped for more understanding. Overall, it's a great place to work if you enjoy a fast-paced, people-focused environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
No best part. I have been accused of drinking on the job! I don't drink GIN! I ask Embr to check the camera. " oh we Don't fo that. The only best part was my nice supervisor that worked hard to turn me into an AMBASSADOR for Embr. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No stress. Except to be sure to get the supplements in time.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Never been there. They are in Toronto 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting ready to make sales. And meet all the nice staffs.

The manager I had was super bubbly and supportive. A lot of standing around. Some scary and aggressive customers. Very simple task for easy money. Very flexible in shifts.

I have a disability that does not allow me to stand for long periods of time, making normal customer service almost impossible. I quite enjoy working here because of this :) its like playing a game but in real life, and 24 dollars an hour is awesome too!

I like working here because you get to talk and meet lots of new people every tasting. Moreover, the salary payments are after every shift (not bi-weekly)

Easy way to make extra. I guess your experience highly depends on your supervisor- they're very hit or miss. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for gig work.
