Employees are hired with deceptive means as actual scope and work are hidden from candidates and prospective employees. Workload is heavy with people taking on 2 or more roles at a time. No work life balance. Company expects you to surpass expectations juggling workload for 3 or more persons with ridiculous performance metrics. By the way, performance measures are hidden from you until you are hired. These expectations are high as in akin to passing the Bar exam for law. Lack of resources for employees to do their job. Great resignation now taking place where employees are leaving the company in droves. For heavy workload, one is underpaid as well. Lack of pay equity to factor in. While too heavy management retain their huge salaries. Insufficient training that is not thorough. For an insurance company, health benefits are comparatively low compared to market and competition. Only Dental benefits are high. Pension low as well. The values that company espouse are sorely lacking i.e. professional development, diversity, innovation and integrity. If they ignore their own employees needs, how can they attend to their clients? Advancement opportunities are not there, will be pigeonholed into roles.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Fully remote as they did not have a physical office space in my province

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management is incompetent and treats staff not like human beings but like robots. Micromanagement to the point of demanding daily touch bases to go over my tasks for the day. Demands of productivity were not attainable without burning out

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The worst place I ever worked. They don't care about employees unless they make management look good

Data driven. Your work and dedication will not matter. There are advancement opportunities... but you won't get them. You're either hired into these positions or you better be on the boss' good side. 
Severely underpaid (salary over 15% under the business standard for the same career).
You better be ready to accept continuous change coming from higher up. If you come up with a great innovative idea though, no one will listen to you. 

It allowed me to get where I am. And im grateful to the company itself. They should really look into the kinds of people they have in management positions though. 

 long established employees, would do anything possible to make you quit or get you fired.  they want new employees to feel like unvaluable, and disrespected. 
Never seen a place with such  straight forward bullying culture. Not even hidden. 
High caseload while other old employees are just chilling all day long.  new employees take caseload of 2-3 people and work longer hours while being treated with no respect. 
unusual and weird micromanagement,  we are not talking about micromanagement but a toxic workplace behavior. 
HR seems to not care at all. 
Avoid at all cost.

The job in itself is pretty simple and very doable. Doing my job and completing my tasks was actually the easy part of being in that office.
Your problem will be with management and their lack of logical reasoning and common sense. The supervisor is a complete idiot who has no clue about the products and procedures. There is favouritism in the Kingston office. And they expect you to be a yes man with no opinion of your own. There aren't many advancements opportunities as they are all given to the people in Kingston over the Montreal office.

Planned and fun. Just do your job and all is good

Empire Life is Kingston Ontario's largest private company. Family owned, Empire has an incredible amount of history.

Many of the people have been at Empire since highschool. Empire is bring in more and more talent from the larger cities and its between the local and migrated staff you find the most interesting work environments.

Empire Life is a big company with many different parts. I work in tiny part of IT where we keep the servers chugging along 24/7 and we do all the in-house printing. Unfortunately I don’t know about the other bits, like how work is for the programmers or the CSRs or the accounting folks. Everyone seems to work hard and there is a good company culture. The benefits are not bad, with basic health care included and profit sharing

It was always a busy day which I enjoy. I have learned so many things with Empire Life. The management was excellent. My co-workers were good and friendly. The hardest part of the job is when it was not busy, because when Im not busy I feel like I did not accomplish something for that day. The most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with clients, because, I enjoy people.
