I would suggest you think carefully before taking this job.  You may be happier staying on EI if you can.  

Every part of Encore’s deal is bad:
-They will make you sign a banked overtime agreement and expect you to work on the weekend for straight time.  
-they charge you a fee for your uniform which is a handful of shirts with Encore’s logo and a sweater with their logo embroidered on it.  If you return the sweater within a few days you get half of your fee back.  As far as I know from looking at the labor laws it is actually illegal to charge for uniforms in construction.
-their merit benefits cost $1.29/hour work and you need to pay in 300 hours before you can even use the benefits
-Encore expects that if you need to go to the shop to gather materials you are not on the clock until you leave the shop.  The time to get to the shop and find materials is unpaid
-their journeyman rate decreased from $35 to $34 without notice.  When I initally began my paychecks were all calculated off of a $35 journeyman rate but when I brought them my bluebook my new rate was calculated off of a journeyman rate of $34
-they don’t pay for safety courses.  They will require that you have lift and fall arrest but won’t pay for it.  These cost roughly $260 together.  Most companies pay for the fees and will pay for your time as well
-they force you to use their app for hours which uses gps tracking to ensure that you’re on site.  Do this for 8 hours a day over 20 times a month and the data usage adds up fast and they don’t compensate you for it
-their timesheet app forces you to clock two 15 minute breaks each day (morning and afternoon) but the workload is so high that you have to skip your breaks to make the deadlines.  Do you enjoy working for free?

Imagine if you’re a first year electrician here.  If you get the $35/hr jman rate you’re making $17.50 per hour.  Then deduct $1.29/ hour for benefits and you’re making $16.21/hr.  Now subtract the uniform fee and the cost for the safety courses.  Wouldn’t you be better off working at tim hortons for $15 plus benefits paid on top of that?

Garbage heap of a company. Left my future with the company up too a couple of millennials who got their journeyman-ship way to quickly out of high school, and because I didnt want become drinking buddies with them.
Charged for sub-par "uniforms" (hoodies and t-shirt), and found everyway possible to cut corners and perform scabby electrical. Track your every movement with a gps enabled clock in hours app.
Refused to pay overtime, and used the threat of your job to make you work harder and faster.
No time to learn the job, study blue prints or get comfortable. Forget about asking questions, because that makes you have "little skill and lack of knowledge ".
At first site this dumpster fire of a company may seem fine, but after one or two days, anyone can see the inevitable cracks in this companys structure and form.
Stay away.

Started my apprenticeship here after high school in 2022  and worked for 2 years doing mostly commercial work. All the crew members were really easy to get along with and the management was also reasonable and treated everyone fairly. I noticed every employee working at encore did their job honestly and did not cut any corners. Management would do their best to help out on site if needed. As far as I noticed, Us as apprentices were treated fairly and paid well too. Small family owned company, lay offs weren’t common at all, if you did the work, showed up, then you basically had a permanent position. 

Had to quit encore to get some residential experience as they mostly did commercial work. Look forward to working with them again in the future. 

This has been an amazing company to work for the work environment is very welcoming everyone works together to help each other grow and better each other. There is lots of room to grow and use your unique skill sets 
The owners of the company are actively involved and always around . They are always there to help you and support you. 
The company as a whole has an amazing team structure with a diverse set of projects and supports I look forward to working and growing with them for years to come and there are a lot of perks with being a team member 

With Encore you get what you put in. Plenty of room for advancement and a strong team environment.

Great learning opportunities as encore does it all. Larger projects, data, fire alarm, security, service, data, controls. 1 on 1 learning with journeyman for apprentices.

Management always has your back, if you're falling behind you're likely to see your PM strapping on the tools next to you.

Hopefully there is a company like Encore where I'm moving.

I have worked for Encore for a few months now and feel like I have grown leaps and bounds. I always feel safe asking questions no matter who I am working with for the day. There are several Journeymen with the company who started as apprentice and have grown with the company to become qualified Journeymen Electricians. I hope to be one of them.
Overall, this is a great company to work with. Office staff are very friendly and willing to help no matter what.


Great company to work for, gives all works a sense of pride upon a completion of a job. Manager are very communicative and fair. Pay is fair and competitive wages are in places to ensure the best results possible in any working environment

I have been working with encore and love the culture. This company is managed very well. They believe in culture and work life balance. This company believes in the success of their team, and will help anyone starting out in a new career. I would suggest anyone to come work for ENCORE. This company is going to do amazing things.

I would stay away from this company. There is no help when running a job and nothing but negative management. They threaten your job every day to make you work harder. Theres no reward in the end for hard work.

I've been working at this company for a few years now. This company really makes you feel apart of a great team. They're organized, accommodating and understanding. They prioritize workplace safety above all else.
