The biggest problem with this company, other than the poverty line wage, is that the management is all friends who have worked together for years. The next issue is One of the new owners is also the HR manager. I’m sorry but you can’t protect employees interests while protecting your profit at the same time, it’s a conflict of interest. The reality is she is protecting the business before any employee. During my time working there, I came across 1 good Team Leader. I’ve witnessed Team Leaders lie, steal from the house, submit their own personal receipts, and flat out lie to the child advocates office and the police. I’ve seen Team Leaders cover for staff who swear at the kids amongst other terrible things. I’ve also known of multiple concerns being brought forward to upper management where absolutely nothing was done. There is no oversight for Team Leaders, the management never actually speaks to the staff on the floor to see what’s going on, they get updates from the Team Leaders. The problem with that is the Team Leaders will never admit when they’re the problem. A lot of the staff on the floor aren’t comfortable bringing forward issues for various reasons which makes the environment very toxic at times. The kids do suffer and a lot of the time are neglected to an extent. It’s actually disgusting how some of them have been treated. This company has the potential to be great because they do have a handful of fantastic staff, they just need to run it more professionally and treat the staff better. If people felt appreciated I’m sure they wouldn’t have such a high turn over.

Enterphase takes on high risk youth that would not have places to go, which is a respectable endeavour. 

There are some truly wonderful staff that have left Enterphase due to not feeling valued and trusted, and this was the case for me as well. The company recently implemented portions of reports where it must be labell how it was STAFF'S error if a client was violent. 

My experience is that the company will keep a client that causes serious harm to staff, if they have a high per diem. Staff safety is not taken into consideration, and this is due to Enterphase being a for-profit agency. They're only priority is money, not staff safety or retention.

The head of HR and an owner is problematic at best. The company's income will always be before the well being of the staff. 

Enterphase pays wages that are far below industry standards and cost of living. There is a diffetence in the amount of pay, for the same job, between Peterborough and Oshawa, with Oshawa staff making more. They "encourage" staff that are making more to not discuss their wages, and will openly lie when confronted about someone making over the "maximum" wage. They will also bring in temp workers that are making a higher hourly wage than their full timers, plus paying the temp companies, instead of just paying their staff a decent wage. 

They have improperly trained management that should not be in management positions. They do not know how to manage a staff team and will often blame the staff for their own downfalls and mistakes. Untrained management are training staff and creating a cycle. 

Are some of these poor reviews even written about Enterphase? The problems in group care are not Enterphase specific, they are problems that all group homes face, which is low funding from the Ministry resulting in staff turn over.  

I have worked at Enterphase for 7 plus years.  This agency puts the kids first and the care that they give the children is nothing short of wonderful.  The Managers and Owners go above and beyond to make sure that the clients thrive while they are at Enterphase.  If you are looking to do a job that really makes a difference, Enterphase is the place.  

Wages have improved and are now more competitive which feels great.  The company throws a huge holiday party to celebrate the staff and even pay staff who attend the party if they were scheduled to work. 

The kids can be difficult but they have had hard times, which is why they are in a group home in the first place. Enterphase really makes being in a group home easier on the kids.  It's like working in an actual home environment.  I have made amazing relationships with some incredible kids and that makes it all worth it.  

I love my co-workers and we make a great team.  We have the best kids and seeing them smile reminds me that I am in the right job with the right organization. 

The worst employment experience ever!! A lot of shady things happening in the management team. They discourage the front line staff from having relationships and speaking outside of work but the entire management team are friends and have been for years!!!  Not to mention the HR manager doubles as a new owner of the company! Conflict of interest if you ask me. Management travels or spends weekends together partying and gossip about the staff.  Very toxic work environment. Clear favouritism and bullying of staff who aren’t “liked” by management. Staff belittled by management to the point of crying during their shifts. Staff are regularly injured/assaulted by the high risk clients we’re forced to service and no one cares. Staff get chewed out for defending themselves or calling the police to have a client charged after an assault. No sick days, horrible benefits, always have to stay late. Staff are forced to drive clients in unsafe vans with NO WINTER TIRES. Vans often break down during transports WITH clients in them. The staff are burnt out, high turn over rate, pay is so low. Teenage clients working part time jobs pulling in the same income as some front line or relief staff. Run far away from this company!!!

What is the best part of working at the company?
The reward you feel in helping the amazing kids in the program. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No little to no care for mental health or physical strain on staff. Constant physical restraints and assaults, higher ups put staff in vulnerable positions over what is a 911 call. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The workplace is toxic and negative. There is no trust in being able to voice your discomfort when your body is consistently put in harms way. When advocating for yourself and the children you are deemed incompetent for not being able to just follow through poor direction. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lack of staff therefore constant changing routine to vulnerable kids and youth which does not promote ability to provide safe space. Mentally and physically draining and high stress situations that could be avoided with proper supervision and support.

There's no room for advancement in this company and there is a lot expected from management in terms of work and extra's which is not reflected by the pay. Huge turn over rate, extremely difficult to book time off, even if you provide more than reasonable notice. I found most of my shift partners and staff team were not engaged and lacked common sense and what should have been required experience and skills. I found myself stressed at work over staff and client relations which were clearly inappropriate however overlooked by management frequently. The cliques within the company are ridiculous and quickly made the work environment hostile between employee conflicts and disagreements. 
I also found that the company was quick to bring in clients which we were not equipped nor trained to deal with. This was evident through the poor treatment clients were receiving as well as the lack of improvement which could be observed.

Stressful, toxic, unprofessional place to work. If I could give this place a "0" rating, I would. Team "leaders" were everything but leaders. Took advantage of students and staff, by having them run personal errands for them. Would leave work early and go home, pick up their kids, etc.

Honesty was not this agencies strong suit. Reports were often written dishonestly- changed to comply with policies and procedures and the LAW! Team leaders lied to cover their own a**. 

You were discouraged from calling the police when clients were out of control. Unless someone was seriously injured and needed medical attention- don't bother calling 9-1-1. Staff were constantly assaulted and management genuinely did NOT care. 

HIGH staff turnover rate (you ended up working with agency staff usually) and staff were constantly sleeping with each other outside of work. DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!

This was the WORST place I ever worked. Steer clear. The money was average for the position and they did negotiate salary, BUT, your mental health is worth SO much more.

It is very troubling to me to see the appalling reviews on here about this organization, I have many yrs of experience in the field of child and youth work and Enterphase is a 5 star. The staff are very friendly and administration is one of the best I've ever come across, it is my belief anyone reviewing this organization with the malice I've read most recently leads me to believe they haven't experienced the "real" world of this field. It is unrealistic to think any company is perfect but the comments here that are so negative, are in my opinion borderline slanderous, and so extremely biased I felt compelled to give an accurate assessment.

I've worked in the field for 10 yrs and it was like any place, there are good and bad days that can arise within the field but this company Enterphase Child and Family Services is a highly professional, compassionate place to work, their attention to providing an excellent environment to the children and their employees is outstanding!

I enjoyed working with the number of clients I got to spend time with. Although some challenging experiences it helps build your skills as a child and youth worker. 

I hated the schedule changes. There were constant changes to your schedule last minute and you are expected to keep up with these changes. Enterphase is extremely short staffed which makes it difficult to get certain shifts covered, as well as that you begin to burn out from working so much. 

The wage isn't good for certain homes which have more challenging clients... 

If you're looking to gain experience in the field it is ideal. 

I loved my team leaders and many of the management team would do anything to help you out. Best management that I've ever worked for in this field. Staff are great at helpful however there can tend to be quite a lot of gossip between houses as well as your team.

Title says it all. Needs a complete restructure. Some management should be replaced even since the sale of the business. And less reliance on casual staff from a company who doesn't care, screen and offer current proper schooling and qualifications.

Too much middle management interference with team leads and staff on the floor who know their jobs and the kids.

Many foolish fluctuating rules and wedge driving between staff. Not much room to grow unless wish to be team lead and have all the stress from parents, mgmt, kid shifts and staff under you and on call. Just nonsense and salaried despite how much you work in and outside work hours!

The pay is far below rate in field. No regard for schooling needing to be paid for, families, life and cost of living. It doesn't have to be this way but they're more interested in profit and looking good than staff and kid's long term being help and growing to FULL potentials.
