Two people with the same skill set can be hired at the same time to do the same job and get paid two different wages.

New people get hired making the same wage as someone that has been there for years yet have a third of the workload/responsibilities.

New "policies" are put into place while the people implementing said "policies" do not follow them.

Two people can be disciplined for doing the same thing but receive two vastly different punishments.  Unfortunately this seems to be based on ethnic background and having the right or wrong last name.

The current HR manager basically makes the rules and calls all the shots based on her skewed vision of how the company should be run and how employees should be treated.

If you are unlucky enough to work in one particular department, be prepared to be the scapegoat for any problems that you are not responsible for and have credit stolen for any solutions to those problems you may come up with.

The best way to get a raise is not to show up to work and do your job to the best of your abilities.  Sometimes just threatening to quit will get you an extra dollar or two (to keep you quiet until a replacement for you can be found).

The various jobs themselves are not bad at all.  Most of the plant floor employees are great people that are easy to work with.  If the place was run fairly under an actual management team (there are a few members of management that are really decent people but they are the minority), turnover would not be such a constant problem.  The toxic work environment and lack of solid leadership is the main reason most people end up leaving.

EWS provides you with many opportunities to expand your skillset. I started as an assembler a month ago and have been given the opportunity to learn welding and forklift driving. The assembly department is not your typical factory setup where you stand in place hours on end. We do have line setups, but you are required to move around which helps to keep you energized and focused. Work does not feel repetitive as we're always getting new and different racks to assemble. 

After your first 45 and 85 workdays, you get evaluated on your job performance. If you score well you will likely get a wage increase. Shifts are usually 9 or 10 hours, the former being more common. The time goes by quickly and you often forget you're working long shifts.

EWS hosts a diverse workplace with employees coming from different religions, ethnicities, and backgrounds. The work environment is very positive with a strong sense of comradery among workers. 

Supervisors are patient and responsive to employees. Management makes themselves available to you and will reward hard work. They will provide you with any PPE necessary to remain safe at work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The overall attitude towards safety standards for welding is poor. They only follow the bare minimum standards it's a wonder the place is still in one piece and hasn't caught fire or explode for how many close calls they have and risks they take. I don't know if they've fixed most of the issues they had but they are the type of company to close down and reopen under a new name / number added to business name the next day every time something serious happens.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Besides some of the safety concerns, the culture is easy going enough and coworkers  are friendly along with those who run it. However if you can't speak low German, you can expect to feel ousted by half the people there. It can also feel downright disrespectful at times when you know they speak English. Its understandable if they can't.    

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Weld, grind metal, clean up, go home.

The company was somewhat productive,the men are great to work with,foremen are very good,owners are not so fair in treating their emplyees with decent salaries or safety information a while back.
Learned alot regarding welding various positions,setting up work stations,welders etc.
Being a graduate of welding,I know alot about safety and safe welding procedures. Many here don't  know about this so I made sure that they were informed of unsafe procedures,with a smile and a little respect of course.
A day at work would entail setting up your work,station,making sure that you had the right job and number that corresponds to it.
Then making sure that you had the right parts and enough stock to do the work for the entire shift.When or if the work was run completely, we would seek out the foreman and inform him of it,then a new job was assigned.

It's a great place to start out, and learn the ropes. Be very safety conscious as the company as a whole isn't and they don't look out for you. I witnessed and had quite a few instances where we got lucky nobody got seriously injured. Lots of production welding thin gauge metal, doesn't matter the quality of the welds just how fast you can do it. Lots of less than stellar coworkers, a lot of them snort cocaine off the back of the toilets and anywhere else they can snort a line. Management doesn't really have your back. I asked for a raise after my second promotion and they granted it but then it got stuck with upper management dragging their feet for months on my raise. Finally got it and a week later they laid off me and about 10 other employees with no notice. It's a shady place to work, don't ever expect them to care about you.

A typical day starts with doing nothing waiting for the instruction from the manager. They want to implement new things but without spending money and without teaching their staff new skills. Management just focus on production rather than quality which make the company worst in the front of a client. The hardest part of the job is to make manager and management know that they are doing the work in the wrong way. There is nothing to enjoy. Most of the employee working over there are looking for a change and the one who not looking for change is the owner relatives. Not recommend any Engineer to join the organization and waste there career time.

Honestly not a bad company it was relaxed and everyone was nice, Tho there is a lot that management needs to improve for themselves. Pay caps out early, work ethic is low, They expect things done in a manner that cannot be met most of the time. There is also no chance of a promotion. You'll stay a basic grunt the entire time. People with less experience get put on the big jobs, while those with higher experience get put on the small basic learning jobs. IF you are due for a review for a raise you wont get it till 6 months later.

I had literally no experience in this type of manufacturing. My lead hand has so much knowledge about each of the several machines I've had the pleasure of learning to operate. He is also a JHSC member which means he's both capable and competent to teach the most safe approach, while maintaining efficiency. This is crucial for me. Safety must always come first. This guy knows it. His superiors know it. This is also a very easy to injure yourself industry. Having safety standards being upheld to such a high degree is assuring at its best.

co workers were great everything seemed okay at first management unfair in reviewing workers  your daily production goes down ( in my case coldest winter we had and had to go warm up fingers to weld) management didnt come to ask why they just gave me the pink slip.  co workers were all shocked because they knew I was one of the best workers,  didnt take long breaks in bathroom or sneak out for smoke or miss days or be late Always high turnover in employees

I have spent many years with EWS, during this time I've seen immense growth in the company and of course, with growth comes change. Change in personnel both on the floor & in office. A lot of opportunity for growth was presented and has been maintained. The company's ownership has great morals and will always go above and beyond to treat employees more than fair. If you don't shy away from a hard days work this is a great company to be a part of.
