All benefits are intrinsic. This is a volunteer position that is for those who like to work just to make a difference about once a week. No one day is like the next at EHS, because the animals change and the responsibilities can change slightly. The hardest thing in this job is the care of animals (dogs) that are fearful or anxious, but it is very enjoyable to be around the dogs and spend time with them before they are adopted. Shift are not long and how busy it gets changes, but it can be very relaxing and enjoyable.

They are volunteer run and require you to commit to at least a 6 month volunteering spot. 

I volunteered Thursday and Friday mornings, and had the same team for almost a year, after which I noticed a high turnover rate. 

It's a nice place to volunteer if the team you're working with is good, but there are shifts that I found problematic but since it's 100% volunteer run it's hard to fix. 

If you ignore all of that and focus on the animals and bonding with them, you'll have a great time.

I've been with this company for 5 years now and highly dedicated to what I do there and will continue to serve my purpose there. It is a great place to wotk and recommend it to anyone looking for hours or just want to do this on their spare time.

most people are nice and really helpful but it's a volunteer job so there are some people that don't really do any cleaning errands and just sit around or socialize with cats.
overall a good place to volunteer if you want experience with animals

It was a place I wanted to go to, as in I didn't struggle to go to work there. I learnt a lot there. The dog's were a sweat touch and the other volunteers were always so nice.

This is an entirely volunteer based organization that is also a no-kill shelter. Those two components are so rare in southern Ontario and they do amazing work bringing people together to support animals in need. 

Great Volunteer culture at no-kill Animal Shelter.  Helpful co-workers, great training, great Managers. Room for advancement. I left for a paid office position.

Lots of fun and interesting. Working at EHS  was a very interesting experience and it was a lot of fun. Working with recused animals is very fulfilling and teaches you great things.

A great place to work if you love animals.  Professional yet a fun place to learn new skills and meet new people.  They are always looking for more help.

fun, good people. manager was sometimes condescending. I definitely did have a lot of fun though, and if you enjoy working with animals this would be a great place for you.
