Management is ok,shifts are very long, exhausting and weekly rotation.Pay is very good, benefits   are very good.Life balance is zero.Very toxic workplace,unionized with rotten spoiled union members,the seniors think they are entitled to a lot of privileges. Don't expect any respect from those fossils. They are  overprotected from the union, always choosing the easiest jobs, doing whatever they wish to do .you can be easy harassed from the seniors and union wont do anything about that.There are all buddy buddy in there. Most part of them refuse to retire even after 30 years of service, they want to work eternally .they block the progression to the fellows members and making impossible to have vacant positions for young people to apply.As much as i respect the union for what they stand for,its a broken system than 80% of members are taking advantage of it.

It is shift work so it takes a lot to get used to. There is many positions to learn so it can be stressful but opens doors to other jobs in the future. The management is very production orientated and quick to discipline. The training is mostly done by coworkers who are pushed to the limit and sometimes aren't that knowledgeable because they themselves are not trained properly. If you value family and plan holidays to spend time with them this is not the place for you. It was a good place to work years ago but times change and so does the work place. This company is a good start off point for a young person to learn some skills and get a taste of the real world but definitely not a place to plan to retire from.

Whit I did over the years at Evraz is make pipe for the oil and gas industry from 9.5in to 2.375ins we upset. thread and apply couplings 
Over the years a I have learn quite a few things and I was also able to share some of my experiences with the company. The social interaction is not as great as some other companies that I have worked with but it was not to bad either. long hours and continental shift can sometimes take a toll on the body but after a time you tend to get use to it .
but I enjoyed working there apart from the salary and benefits sometimes you have challenges in getting a great finish product and i ever so often getting them solve.

Working at Evraz could be difficult because of the long hours, hard and dangerous nature of the work. The management team did a great job of mitigating the risk by implementing good safety policies and strong leadership. The culture was very good with a number of after work social activities and free lunches among other things. Evraz also paid high wages and excellent benefits.

This employment opportunity allowed me to understand the Full Pipe Manufacturing Process and by the efficient actions of my organizational skills I was able to reduce the amount of time processing employees during the On-Boarding or Re-Hire Stage.  It also allowed me to grow within the company when production levels dropped due to the down turn in the economy.

You're just a cog in the machine, get tons out the door without a serious care for quality or properly training employees. Favoritism is huge, lay offs are often. New hire benefits are not as good as they were, pay grade scales are impossible to hit 100% wage with lay offs. Union doesn't help new members, just protects the senior union members and their contacts.

Great place to work. Staff was extremely helpful in training and were a great group. 
One issue was the air quality inside the building.
Shift work provided enough time to adjust from days and nights
Overtime was available

Great place to work however, there are a few supervisors with a god complex that act like they own you as an employee. Most of the supervisors are great to work with. The hours are long, and most positions are shift work.

This is the the place Ipsco, that i started my career over 33yrs ago. In my retirement looking back,i should never have retired! In the old days you could do a hand shake and today everything is computers not always fair.

This company pays well which is how they retain their employees. The workplace culture is not positive, the work life balance is poor, and there is little to no advancement available in the majority of departments. Some managers tend to hire people for reasons other than their skills.
