As a courier I started alright not much training to get to know how to use the handset or learn the route. I stuck to it for a while I was a good employee. But  A few problems with this job, no help with the cost of fuel you pay that out of your own salary which is a lot. you just take the parcels and deliver them, you are required to use your own car and you pay your own fuel. Ware and Tare and mileage are on you, there is no help with that. You are better off with a van doing this job because if you leave any large parcels you are expected to go back to the depot at the end of your day and deliver them after.
Another issue is if you are off sick they still expect you to work I was off sick 1 day and they were constantly ringing me asking me to go in or threatening to take my round away from me which you don’t need when you are sick. Booking time off for holiday is also hard as there’s no cover for you they will mostly give your round away and leave you with nothing when you get back. I know that form experience. Getting hold of managers is also difficult they hardly ever answer the phone or text back, if you have any problems the manager will just tell you what you want to hear and nothing will change, the reason I left was because the salary is poor 60 pence per parcel I was using more fuel than what I was earning at Hermes. I would recommend this job if your about to retire and have a van and if your looking to make a small amount  of money to keep you busy

If you're lucky, you'll maybe get £100 - £200 a week. Loading procedures do not exist and you won't get any help from what they call field managers. All you get is the zero hours possible chance of maybe picking up a day or two at stupidly low parcel rates (41p per parcel in town/city locations). You get to use your own vehicle with all the wear and tear and maybe break even in a year. Their phone app (yeah, you have to use your own phone too) is useless and the scanner only picks up part of the time. You get 4 weeks of access to their route optimisation software but really it does nothing and cannot work out ETA's. The mapping software is so vague you may as well sling your drops in a field and take a photo mid air saying 'well, I got it as close as your f**king software'. Really, if you want to work as a courier, these are not the people to apply to, even if you're totally skint. I worked as a central London dispatch rider for years without missing a day, the routes and management here are scary and the rates below minimum wage, way below.

I wouldn’t say there is any stress in my job.

It work environment can be a bit rushed but if you can focus on just what your doing then it is relatively easy.

Everyday is different as you are going to different places. Not the same location day in , day out.

Working on my own, at my own speed, without a boss breathing down my neck

Very little stress personally

Good usually,but there can be times when things are running late, friendly environment

Load vehicle, set eta's, deliver

Asked multiple times about pay like when and roughly how much per package was told time and time again that they don't know or simply just ignored. 
Then I got a wage slip through and for 7 days work i got £140 which just felt like a kick to the teeth. 

Simply put if you don't have a big van you can't even make enough to cover minimum wage. Then your fuel comes out after my time with this company basically ment I was working for about £5ph

Really not worth it,only just covers your fuel costs

Bad pay and working conditions,load your car outside in all weather's

To be fair the manager was very help full and understanding

Rushed and stressful for very little pay

Unfortunately the lack of initial training made the overcoming of simple tasks a problem and lack of communication made it difficult to reach targets!!
It was defi a question of asking for help from other drivers to fill in the gaps!! But in bad weather the system in many sub depots needs badly re organising. Penryn depot ridiculous

Staffing levels were poor so you had to do more C&D calls , extra shops were random and well off your original route .
No consistency throughout the office .

Used to be fine but with no raises it's impossible to support yourself with this job. Fuel costs and wear and tear on your car are too much. And the app you need on your phone tracks you all the time.

Very hectic and stressful. Items are stacked without any recourse or care. Delicate/fragile items that should handled with care are stacked haphazardly.
