 If you are entry level fresh out of university or at a  late-stage in your career where growth doesn't matter then the job may be a good fit for you. 

A typical day at EFC Head office is sitting at a computer doing outdated data-entry methods and trying to drown out the non-stop gossiping. If you enjoy gossiping and elevator small-talk then you may enjoy the position, however if you just want to work and grow your career and/or skill-set I would look elsewhere for employment. Yes in small bursts most interactions and co-workers are enjoyable, but I will address the typical working space later.

Since the job is mostly data-entry. I would be weary as most work can easily be automated or done with AI in the modern age. This hasn't happened yet because management is very traditional and old-school. I do not expect this to be the case in the next 5-10 years. 

Remote work is 100% viable for most positions at head-office, but you will be made to sit in a cubicle located in a cramped and busy hallway. Upper-management has the luxury of a closed off office spaces where they can focus easier. Otherwise you will be cramped into a shared desk space. The office is literally a hallway with windows that aren't fully sealed. Be prepared for massive temperature fluctuations as the building is old and  This criticism will always be brushed off by management.  No compensation is provided for commuting costs or time lost spend commuting to and from the office .

The toxicity of the workplace will wear away at you if you are a person who just wants to do a job, this may not be for you. Almost everyone has a bad word to say about each other.  You will need to agree with what your supervisor/manager/co-workers think or a target will be painted on your back. This involves controversial topics such as Politics and Religion.  After 5 years of work I now need psychiatric and therapeutic assistance. This is not hyperbole. 

You will need to put on a facade and have thick skin. It is always the blame game this can be noticed as when most people quit for a while any mistakes will be blamed on them. I have seen it throughout the years and am positive they are doing it to me since I have found new employment. Instead of solving the problem there always needs to be a "blame" step in the process. Slowing work down and making things dreadful. 

Anti-bullying is seen as a joke. I would recommend not sharing personal life details as they will be used against you. There is a false sense of "family culture", although I would refrain from being your true self.  Do not express your own ideas or emotions to others. The greatest regret I had while working for EFC  was going to HR for problems regarding harassment, as it only escalated the negativity of my situation. This is a passive form of retaliation which openly violates the Canadian Human Rights code. 

Performance reviews are not conducted. You will not receive feedback about your work. You may think you are doing a good job and then be surprised with a warning of losing your job. You will not receive exact metrics or told how to improve. It is very rare to be praised for working hard or doing a good job. A common phrase the team was told is "Everyone is replaceable". 

The best part of the job is definitely the people. This may sound paradoxical to my previous statement regarding a toxic work environment, but there are several nice people who you will enjoy interacting with on a daily basis. 

When I first started with EFC it was great. I made a lot of friends and close bonds with my supervisor team, and those around me. As things progressed we started to flounder a bit. Struggles with equiptment failing, leading to delays on flights, or being short man power. We held it together with duct tape and prayers. For awhile it works. A few less issues with equiptment and a lot more staff meant we were getting up to speed. We started to tread water instead of flounder. 

In November as flights slowed down we lost 40+ staff members to financial cuts. We were back at square one man power wise, and struggling to get by as they slashed hours. Understandably, if you don't have the work for the amount of staff you have, cuts need to be made, but everyone began walking on eggshells. More cuts were made in january, and then a few more after we lost a major contract of ours.

Through this we were reassured no more cuts would happen, and we were secure to move forward. Recently, it was announced that most of our staff in two of our bases will be let go, due to the loss of our second major contract. Everyone is devastated, and unsure of what's to come. While we don't know exactly why all of this is happening, it's clear that poor financial decisions on the upper end of management is part of the reason. We are scrambling to find work because of this. Since I started we have been begging for them to stop sinking money into unnecessary things, like fixing equipment poorly instead of properly fixing, or replacing it.

Talking to upper management is like talking to a brick wall and begging for a response. Tons of empty promises and agreements all falling through, and people feeling like they're just cheap labor instead of a person, something the company claims to strive for (being a family.)

My supervisor team has been phenomenal for the most part. I thank all of them for what they've done for us. I'd consider coming back but only if things are corrected.
If you are part of the afflicted bases, I see you. I wish you all the best in what's to come.  And if you're thinking about applying to EFC, use caution. It's not the company I recognize anymore.

The strength of this company comes in its pay. They pay higher than the world average for the positions that they have. Unfortunately that is not competitive with the truck driving industry that they would be competing with for employment. 

They management uses ideologies from the 1980's when running their business and do not take the employee into consideration when making changes. 0 notification of shift changes, 0 reasons given for anything. 

There is no thought to system wide changes that would affect the personal. This company is very reactive and although they should be able to predict certain behaviors of clients they seem to be surprised at every down turn and end up laying off half their staff only to post rehires of that same position within days. 

During lay offs they will keep the people who under perform and let go of long time employees who have acquired skills and familiarity with clients and contractors. Every time a pilot or client comes in they see new faces and those new faces need to be taught the individual needs of the client time and time again. 

If you want a job that pays well but has no future (especially if you get promoted) with a company that eats itself from the inside out. EFC is the place to go.

I have been with EFC for almost 4 years now!  I have worked in a variety of positions and locations, including; Administrative Assistant (Calgary Home Office), Luggage Agent (Horizon),  Customer Service Agent Level 1 & 2 (Horizon), and currently an Administrative Assistant/Customer Service Agent at our FBO in Calgary. I have been a member of the Safety Committee in both Calgary and Horizon, and I am currently involved in the Employment Equity Committee. This is what I value about Executive Flight Centre the most, is the opportunity to move around and grow. I am constantly learning new skills every single day. 

I have worked in many different environments, and genuinely loved them all. The staff are great, and the open door policy with management is strongly appreciated. We have a huge dedication to safety. 

Even though we have many locations and roles, I feel as though everyone works on the same team and are very supportive of one another. I will say that having a positive attitude and outlook definitely helps. 

Overall, this is an excellent place to work and I look forward to continuing my career with EFC, and excited to see the company grow and evolve!

Supportive, equality and respectful, promoting a sense of belonging with a lot of learning, the management, leadership and mentoring is excellent by all. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Early wake up in camp accommodations, prepare for the day, have breakfast, get packed lunch, meet crew for drive to work site, starting with module computer training and intermittently do tasks, duties and on the job training, wing walk, marshal aircraft, unloading luggage and deliver to camp, picking up luggage and loading aircraft, driving vehicles, guiding passengers and using customer service skills, lunch and continuing training, tasks, duties and anything that needs doing. Return to camp have your meal, do some socializing and gym activities then bed to restart the next day.  (That is on a rotational schedule)

As a member with EFC for almost 9 years now, Ive seen the ups and downs and turnarounds, from our lows to highs in the company. Ive learned tremendous amounts of new things happening and things that are still going. Starting as a ramp agent employee to now being a operation supervisor. 
A typical day starts off with performing a tool box meeting and any concerns that any employee might have with any safety concerns that might be involved during the day as safety is our main priority.
The fires were a good experience for the people who stayed and worked the shifts, specially living at the airport and how well we all worked together during the dramatic time.  
I would say the most enjoyable part of working here is coming into work. I enjoy the people who i work with as we are more of a family then just employees here. We all work together as a team and not individuals. 
Winter ops are more busy with snow removal, safety of the passengers, putting planes in the hangar and summer time is busy with lots of fueling.
Never had a dual moment being here and the enjoyment of the workplace we have.

I've been with EFC for 6 years from the ramp to the office. I applied having had no ramp or office experience whatsoever. I came for the salary and the benefits, I stayed for the positive culture, and learning opportunities. In my time here, I've seen people who either had a negative attitude or were lazy not have a good time and eventually leave the company. And honestly, who wants to work with a sour person with no concept of teamwork? 

However, positive hard working people who take initiative are constantly being shown how valuable they are. I've never been asked to stay longer than the time I was paid for, and I've never been asked to do anything that was outside my scope of ability. I've learned more at EFC than any other job I've ever had combined. 

The only thing that would make this job even better would be more paid vacation, but I already get a lot so maybe I'm pushing it.

The only downside is that you wont get family day off because its a provincial holiday and all airport workers are federal employees.

Upper management has a attitude toward its employees that you are dumb and only worth the task at hand employed for. They refuse to listen to other new ideas to improve productivity and make business more profitable. Upper management goes through supervisors and lower management at break neck speeds as they have unreal expectations and unattainable goals that they place on  them. Safety culture is promoted but disregarded as "just get the job done" despite breaking safety protocols habitually. They constantly run a "skeleton crew" and a  lot of times leave employees by themselves during long times with zero support and expect employees to work like dogs without getting proper breaks.  Decent people to work with. Nepotism is rampant within the company and certain employees get away with everything. 

The company has gone through a series of changes in attitude, culture and management in recent years.  It's too bad that a "do as I say" attitude has taken hold and not using the available talent pool to it's advantage.  This extends to managers with new hires wanting to "make their mark". All of this amounts to nothing more than marking a pole like our four legged friends, and demonstrates the ineffective choices for managers that the company makes.
There is absolutely no chance or opportunity to advance from your position, with the only movement being awarded through attrition or by being  "old buddies" with those in power.
The job should be enjoyable and stress free to those who understand the aviation culture of "on time departures" and the critical nature of giving clients the service they require to make their jobs and ours possible. Sadly this concept is foreign to the bosses at EFC.
