* A typical day at work would be to open the facility at 9am and prepare for any fitness consultations booked from the previous day. Hours worked were 9am - 1pm and 4pm-9pm (sometimes 10pm). I was the Health Center Manager so I made daily goals for trainers to meet in regards to renewals and training sessions completed. I would be booking and conducting fitness assessments to the members and then approaching them with a personal training package that was suitable for thir needs, wants and goals. I would make sure the gym floor and office space were cleaned and well presented. I would meet and greet new members and give them a tour of the facility if needed. Then go over trainer programs to make sure everything is going to plan. Between the split shift I would fit in a workout for 2 hours, shower then eat before commencing the second part of my day. Management was great, my employers were always there and always helping me if I needed the advice pertaining to a member complaint. The hardest part of the job was meeting sales goals at the end of the month. The best part about the job is that I got to work in the setting I love which is the gym.

I worked here for 5 days, then COVID19 hit I wasn't able to get my pay because of the pandemic situation, I understood what the owner was going through and I didn't bother asking wheres my pay, its all good  they'll pay me once the whole pandemic situation dies down and the gym goes back to business again. Now the gym is back to business and they are hiring new people and PAYING those new people. Manager is super rude and they don't like me because they have a jealously problem. Thats YOU'RE problem! Also the manager is really rude and doesn't like to communicate and talk things out so instead they just ban me from the gym. Super petty... That is not the point though, EXPRESS FITNESS AT SCARBOROUGH! YOU GUYS OWE ME FOR 5 DAYS OF WORKING! It's not that serious, just pay me for my training this is Canada we don't work for free out here.

High pressure to constantly sell memberships. Quite difficult when the owners do not put money into marketing.

Workplace culture was built up strictly by the employees working the front lines of the facility.

Do not work here if you are looking for a guaranteed paycheque. Pay is only once a month, 95% of the time it is pushed to later in the month (last friday of the month). Sometimes it gets pushed well into the following month if sales are not high enough. Owners do not believe in labour laws.

Express fitness has become a second home to me. I am very passionate about my work and seeing our wonderful members every day and building relationships with them all on a first name basis. The hardest part about the job is when people are unhappy. The most enjoyable part is the compliments i receive about my humbleness and the positive energy i bring.

The job itself is great and you'll always get along with coworkers and clients. Few people will complain and there aren't many tasks at hand. The owners are awesome but rarely there, the management at this particular location are what made me leave. I didn't agree with one of the guys and felt disrespected and undervalued.

On a typical day at work, I learned to communicate better with my staff and members. to grow patience. stay positive under any situation.

the hardest part was to work for a private self made company with very small amount of volume.

the most enjoyable part was when i was able to close PT sales and increase the numbers from 15g to 40-50g on my own.

Management made it very difficult to enjoy the workplace environment; thankfully members of the gym and fellow colleagues were able to make up for this.

An overall good experience in learning how to handle impatient or unhappy customers.

Excellent staff, wonderful fitness club members. Everyone there is really friendly including the fitness club members. My co-workers were motivating and taught me amazing new things (knowledge of fitness equipment and workout methods)

Not bad to work for trainers without experience. two locations with no people, too expensive. The decor is beautiful and rich. Problem with on time salary.
