My typical work day includes a very quick start unless I arrive much earlier than my employees. Staff relations plays a vital role in a successful work environment. All other challenges can be addressed when you have a great team.

I usually start with a very small but casual hello of the day with my employees. Get an understanding for the beginning of their day and any obvious challenges. I usually stop into my manager's office to ensure there are not any pressing items that I could be of assistance and then settle into my priorities for the day.

Many of my duties require that of a liaison and an advisory role when I am working with deadlines outside of the department. Therefore touching back with Regional Headquarters is an ongoing activity throughout the day and getting the "ball rolling" is the beginning of a productive day.

I have had 4 different Directors to report to over the years and I have learned new interpersal strategies in developing a successful working relationship with each of them that was beneficial for both them and I.

My responsibilities cross-over with my co-workers as the corporate team provides interal and external services for the Program Managers in our department. We meet indivdually often on a casual basis to share ideas and best practices but also monthly on a more formal basis to provide required updates.

The most challenging part of my job be the change over of employees in the corporate group. My employees work closely with all other program managers and are ideal candidates when superviory or developmental positions open up that they are able to apply for. These temporary assignments have assisted many of my employees over the years to achieve huge career advancements and obtain management positions similar to mine. Strategic planned cross training and pre-established pools of term employees has assisted in the constant change.

The hardest and most enjoyable seem to go hand in hand. Staff relations in an ever changing environment is a critical challenge though the satisfaction in supporting employee career development and mentoring has been extremely rewarding. I was provided same type of leadership early in my career which allowed me the successes I can speak about today. I enjoy providing the same leadership to assist others in enriching their lives.

I had seasonal contracted employment from 2015 to 2017 as steward. The job is always busy at least for the first while, till you get your routine in order. There is a sense that you need to prove yourself and  sometimes given extra work duties in the beginning, but as my first public service job, i assumed that was normal, there is a lot of stress on the job and the old culture can be out of date, there is hierarchy not just on the ship but in the head offices too. 
Depending on the crew and captain, there are some amazing, dedicated, and humble officers, crew and office staff within the Canadian Coast Guard but unfortunately there are also some bad apples at all levels onboard and in the office. 
I would imagine since i left there has been some mighty changes and upgrading of department culture. 
I would recommend working in the Canadian Coast Guard, if you can make it, it's a rewarding career.

The job was hectic and there was a lot to learn as systems were changing rapidly.  There were too few employees across the country (5 coordinators) for 10,000 employees.  Not enough to handle the workload required.  

Learned lots about Peoplesoft.  Overall management was good but remote from my location.  Workplace culture was average.  Human Resources and Compensation branches are very busy and therefore stress levels were high.

Hardest part of the job is that I was the only employee in my region doing my job so I had to speak by telephone with my counterparts in other parts of the country whenever there were problems - which was often.  They were in the same boat as I was and there was frustration with the pace of the workload and the quick changes.

Most enjoyable part of the job was when the 5 coordinators got together in Ottawa once a year for training and we got to share our experiences.

Great team.

Overview of Duties:
• Greet patients in office and on telephone
• Schedule appointments and meetings (Client Master Program)
• Confirm patient appointments, prepare treatment rooms, gather and record patient information
• Process health insurance claims and service payments
• Assist patients with selection of Physiotherapy/Osteopathic products 
• Entrusted with day-end responsibilities
• Create, update, and complete medical consent forms (Microsoft Word)

Working at Sparx Wellness Institute gave me great experience working in the medical field.  I worked for three Physiotherapists, two Osteopaths, and five Massage Therapists.  I was involved with the scheduling of patient appointments, preparing patient rooms and medical equipment, among other tasks.  It was a great working atmosphere.

The day usually consisted of helping users with applications and passwords being the main issues. This was by phone, email or a desk side visit. I learned many of the in-house applications and the issues involved with upgrading to Win 7. 
The management was excellent. They were very approachable and issues could be discussed in an open manner. My co-workers were really great with a free flow of collaboration and sharing of ideas.
There was no really hard part of the job other than dealing with a virus or spam attack which was very time consuming. The most enjoyable part of the job was listening to client issues, helping them and building great relationships with them. I have missed them all.

The frequent changes of direction often dictated by special interest groups!

Always upbeat , constantly changing and challenging!

Early morning meetings and discussions leading to research, both electronic and face to face contacts and phone discussions! 
Keeping up to date with DOJ and recent court cases and decisions

Not only am I already quite capable of multi-tasking, working as the scheduling assistant for the Director General for the international affairs directorate, allowed me to enhance my skills, learn how to properly and effectively work under pressure and work in team environment.

My Managment was very supportive, and prepared to encorporate new ideas and procedures to enhance daily routine, which I enjoyed bringing forward and applying. 

The most difficult part of my job were some of my co-workers as a few were not adding to the team effectively. Some were rude and condescending to superiors and peers. It was difficult to engage them, or want to be near them.

The Organization is Corrupt and downright Horrible!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The Management and lack of Empathy. You are considered just a # . They do whT they want to their employees without fear of reprisal

Toxic and Unhealthy. The Work Culture is extremely negative and downright horrible.

Lonely and Scary. Managers micro Manage leaving myself and Coworkers in Danger.

Great people, flexible hours and interesting work

sometimes tight timelines to get things finished

work environment is great and being government recognizes all cultures and celebrates all.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If you do your job, relaxing and understanding and everyone helps when and where needed.  Friendly environment.

Working here can provide you with opportunities to contribute to solving real world problems in fisheries science, policy and government agendas.  You also can potentially participate in really interesting field work. 
It can be hard to maintain work-life balance.  Many of the challenges are long-standing, entrenched issues that are easily misunderstood by most people.
The higher you advance, the less likely you are doing hands on work.  You end up dealing mostly with paperwork and HR issues.
