Focus On Youth

My typical day consisted of a min of 20 children between the ages of 7-14. I learned about being responsible and consistent with time and keeping as eye n the kids. I also learned to be able to organize events which included activities for children and parents. We  also took the camp on trips to very populated places, which taught us all to be alerted in case we lost a child. The management team was exceptional and helped the co-workers when we were in need. They encouraged us in many different ways, which helped us all understand our job better. The hardest part of the job in the beginning was when me and a fellow co-worker was asked to organize an event for children, we didn't know how to begin it, but it all turned out amazing in the end. The most enjoyable part was everyday, waking up to see all the happy kids and the day would go by amazing, no fatigue or sad days went by. I can say it was the best two summers I ever had while working. This job showed me how passionate I am about teaching and being able to work with children.

I used to be a kid who attended camp and loved it so much that I decided to volunteer when I was old enough. 

My colleagues were amazing and so were my bosses. The bosses cared about their workers. Communication between everyone was great and at the end of everyday we would do a little get-together to acknowledge others' work and efforts.

Of course, work quality as a camp leader can depend on the group of kids you have; I luckily had older kids and the few younger ones were obedient and (usually) well-behaved. 

I would have to clean after kids (wiping tables, sweeping floors, return supplies), sometimes had to improvise activities, accommodate for some kids according to parents or the child's wishes, and supervise about 13 kids (with other workers in your group) on field trips like to the CN Tower.

Hardest part part of my job was just waking up in the morning. Best part was getting to know the kids and doing activities with them. I also got to take home leftover snacks and lunches, I was not a big fan of what they usually served for lunch though.

I Come To Work At 8:45 Get The Kids To Sit Down In There Lines So We Can Get Started With The Morning Warm Ups. After That We Get To Our Daily Rutines Depending On If Its A Day 1 Or 2. Some Parts Of The Day We Are In The Class Rooms Doing Arts/Crafts, Games Room, Or Drama Room. When We Are Not In The Classroom Were In The Gym Playin Basketball Or Dodge Ball Or Outside Playin Soccer, Baseball, and Water Games Outside. Our Co-Workers Are Doubled Up So Its Easier On Me. My Kids Are From Ages 6-9, The Hardest Part About My Day Is Just Getting The Kids To Pay Attention or Line Up In A Straight Line. My Kids Are Good Listeners So Not That Awful. Otherwise MY Job Is Entertaining And Very Enjoyable.

This position was for a period of six weeks from the beginning of July to mid-August. In this position I had the responsibility of: 
Watching over children between ages 7-15 
Planning programs for the children during the day 
Leading and escorting youth on busses around the city
Assisting youth with personal tasks, such as using the bathroom, when needed 
Demonstrating proper behaviour and acting as a role model
Supervising youth during camp hours, whether on trips or on campus, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily

Greatest summertime workplace. Being the coordinator of the FOY Media Team provided me with a great deal of experience working with DLSR cameras along with video and sound editing. In 2018 I was in charge of my Media Team profiling summer camps apart of the FOY program

located all over Toronto. This included taking photos and footage of the campers and staff, conducting interviews, creating videos, editing, and publishing blogs. In 2019 I became coordinator for the entire camp at St. Timothy Catholic School for the summer.

As a camp leader I had to: ensuring all campers were safe, feed, and had fun, I had to come up with activities for them to do each day, plan trips example: to the zoo, swimming pool, and to the park. At times the campers would get into fights and I would have to help them solve the problem. Every morning I would have to take attendance. 
I love working with children so this job came natural to me, the other camp leaders became like family. I became very attached to the campers and the hardest part was having to say bye to them at the end of the summer.

Typically, I would arrive to work at 8:45 am, ready to go about my day. While there, I have learned how to put things into perspective, how to organize my time better, how to properly follow instructions and others. The management team was very good. They made sure that things ran smoothly and knew what it was that they were to do. The hardest part of the job was knowing that the children would get a bit rowdy and uncooperative on certain days. Though they would get rowdy, it was rather enjoyable to watch them have fun.

Incredible work place. Have the opportunity to strengthen bonds with coworkers and kids. Many memories were made when bonding with the kids and coworkers. Learn how to deal with difficult situations that may occur in any workplace. Connected with kids and coworkers. There were many responsibilities needed in a Camp, but all went well because everybody helped one another.

Would start the day by reviewing my activities for the day i have planned out for the children i was incharge of. 
I learned how to teach sports curriculum to the youth. 
Management was very friendly and understanding towards taking days off and such. 
The culture of the workplace was very welcoming and open to talking to each other so it was nice to know that the workplace was full of friendly people.

Working in a virtual environment is very relaxing and less stressful. I have learned new resources to use to communicate with campers as well have improved on public speaking skills and being comfortable on camera. This virtual opportunity is great opportunity as you work many wonderful people ad get to learn new things everyday.
