Formula Powell

Formula Powell had fantastic morale and was a great place to work with amazing employees. That all changed years ago. Employees used to be shown lots of appreciation through good pay and regular bonuses. Perks like safety bonuses, profit sharing, RRSP program, Christmas bonuses, gift cards, lots of promotional clothing and schwag, management training, branch bbq’s and catered lunches every couple weeks, personal wellness benefits, fuel cards, vehicle allowances, overtime pay for overnight call-outs, etc., were common, but no longer exist. All bonus money is kept to be distributed only amongst management.   Upper management has 50+ years combined working at Formula Powell and still has no idea how to run a trucking company, let alone a trucking company in the energy service sector.  Lots of bosses here to tell you what to do and write you up, but not provide guidance or support. Management would rather take care of themselves than their customers or workers. Avoid this toxic environment for your own good!

Typical day at work was coping with cold weather while operating sellick diesel outdoor counter balance forklift loading unloading flat beds coming from Alberta to Estevan SK.

Always handling or dealing with various materials for oil rigs as we supplied to 32+ rigs.  Management was husband and wife operation lots of inside politics.  I learned to operate this huge diesel forklift.

Co-worker was manager's wife so again it was inside politics.   Other co-workers were great we all had pretty much same day to day duties

Hardest part of job was always being alert of various chemicals making sure theirs no leaks or spills otherwise one can easily start a blast or fire or harm ourselves extremely bad.

Well job starts when its dark, and finishes when its dark, enjoyable part of the job was when we get to sleep or do grocery shopping gives us time away from job site where we were also living in company RV camper

Work as a dispatcher, coordinating mud truck to provide drilling rigs with product.  learned a lot about the trucking industry, legal requirements for loads, and the standard that work could be completed.  it was a great place to work and I learned everything quickly, I moved on from this job for a better paying more suitable opportunity.

Working at formula powell was a great learning experience. I came on with basic understanding of operating a forklift and am now very comfortable running it. The work itself isnt hard. The best part of the job was the people, coworkers and managment are always there for you to answer questions and help you learn.

there were days when you get swamped with work, and there were days all you did was clean. the day would start off usually with a safety meeting and giving out work orders. most of the time it was cleaning units and bays.

Open the yard, assist truck drivers, mix invert, heavy lifting, operate loader, keep yard clear of snow or other obstructions, secure holding tanks were sealed and locked, much computer work using Excel and Access.

When I started in High Level in 2011 it was very busy did very well as the years went by and got slower and slower until I could not survive there so I moved on before another slow summer and I would like to get out of oil field

I worked with a great group of people who made each others job positions easy.  From the group in the office to the truck drivers to the bulk plant.  The whole crew were wonderful coworkers.

Started as a receptionist. Learned many different roles. Great co-workers. Nice place to work. Moved up in the company.

Learned billing after a year of reception. many opportunities.
