Future Stars Sports Photography

Was here from 2012 - 2020. 

-Started as a photography and LOVED traveling to different schools each day while working with kids. Minimum wage to start.
-Promoted to mentor, slight pay increase and more full time hours. 
-Promoted to photography manager, HUGE increase in hours (cut into my personal life, and became an issue). They expect a lot from you, with very little pay $18 an hour, to manage 20-30 people, expecting to be on call NOT SALARY, only 2 weeks vacation.
-Left the company in 2017, due to stress. I actually requested that I be demoted back to photographer, because my mom was stage 4 cancer and I couldn't handle the stress that came with being a photography manager. The president suggested I just work part time at the same position, which eventually became impossible resorting in me taking a leave of absence at work. 
-Eventually came back as a photographer in 2019, and LOVED IT! Hsin is a great manager. 
-Promoted to Inside Sales and Support for apparel and servicing sports leagues in Jan 2020. This job was created on the spot, so my job requirements were never clear. Covid 19 happened, and our entire company was laid off (understandable). People were eventually allowed back to work, but photographers were told not to tell anyone (me) because I wasn't invited to come back to work. End of June comes around, I ask Hsin the photography manager to help grab my stuff as I can not come in the building (also haven't heard from my boss in weeks about my job placement, and AFTER I reached out letting them know I was worried I wouldn't have a job to come back to blah blah and them reassuring me they will let me know asap.) When I was collecting my stuff, I guess word got around that I was down in the ware house and the president yells down from the balcony "Can you start tomorrow?"..... I was legit, BLOWN AWAY! that THAT was how I was asked back. I'd say, respect was lacking and so was professionalism. 

Overall, I am leaving this company with a sour taste in my mouth. Although they were patience when my mom was sick, then allowing me to come back to work.. their management as a company is lacking, and the only thing that matters here is money. The turn around time in his company is quite quick, for both photographers (to be expected) but also in sales reps.

YES to being a photographer. 
NO to being an internal staff in the building.

Friendly team environment. Great if you like to travel around southern Ontario, however, salary for travel km's is much lower than most industry standards. Perfect for entry level photographers as they will train for desired look. They provide all photographic equipment. They are disorganized at times due to the ever changing client schedules. This job is perfect if you don't mind the constant "on-call" atmosphere, but, can be frustrating if you have a lifestyle (kids, other jobs, etc.) to work around as it changes day by day week by week. Must be able to work very quickly in details and think on your feet. Once trained you must be able to work solo when scheduling requires it as there are sometimes not enough staff to go around. This means working quickly as both a photographer and coordinator at the same time; answering questions, getting everyone organized, as well as, taking very detailed ideal photos of children that like to move around a lot. Patience is a virtue as you are constantly dealing with kids and clients that see you as the face of everything that can and sometimes does go wrong. When parents are allowed in the area of your photo shoot, they can be overly opinionated and have their own ideas of how you should do your job (even though you have been trained otherwise) you must be able to appease them while still keeping to your time limit per child. All that being said, if you enjoy travel and photography, are good with children, and are quick on your feet and able to pay attention to the smallest details while being able to handle opinionated clients and random schedule changes... then you'll do  very well here.

Overall, I enjoyed my time here as a photographer. 
Management was always friendly and approachable and provided me with the appropriate training and equipment I needed. 
The hours were sometimes early or long, but the company pays for gas. 
It was enjoyable working with kids at shoots, and all of my coworkers were nice, making for a fun experience. 

A great place to get photography experience!

The photography team is good and lead by two amazing managers. But the rest of the company is a disaster. They have ridiculous expectations. This is a high pressure environment. Not suited for everyone.

Otherwise I liked the work overall, but I most likely wouldn't work here again. It was paid less than should and the work could came any time, like a few hours before shoot. Well that said people and management was nice, I liked my team and supervisor.

If you're young, you're often referred to as a "millennial" in a negative term by internal office staff. 

So many ideas but no execution. 

Sales reps are constantly coming and going. 

NO TRAINING...

Overall great management, really friendly. I did not have any negative instances with this company or any of the employees. They are very well organized and allow you to easily work through your day with no hiccups.

Future stars is an excellent place to work! The hours are consistent. Employees are great to work with and they really promote a team mentality. I would recommend for anyone interested in working in this field.

Training was poor and insufficient. The job also is extremely fast paced and it is easy to get lost and flustered. Time management and organization is a must.  However, if you love photography and working with kids the job is quite fun.

nice people and company.. occasional lack of direction from the owner but able to be creative and get things done.
Super entry level company, lack of motivation at times.
