GREG FREWIN THEATRE

There was a previous review I left in October 2018 but I was too emotionally charged at the time. I want to be fair and recount my experience properly without any negativity.

I was hired originally as a contract video technician. After half a year, I was hired on as a full time stage technician. I had a lot of unique responsibilities to help run the show from tech to stagehand work. I learned plenty of new skills through doing the magic shows and concert shows. It was very consistent work, especially during the summer months with daily shows.

There was a fair share of good and bad moments in my time working here. The crew I worked with were really great and there were many good moments. It was truly an unforgettable experience overall. It was an awkward time for me to leave but I knew in my personal career it was time to move on to something new.

During my last few months I had to pull more weight than what I was normally used to on top of my tech responsibilities. In some cases, it was beyond their control with crew members leaving backstage having their responsibilities left to whomever could fulfill them at the time.

My only criticism would be that open communication needs to be encouraged way more. Unfortunately, there were many times I felt like I couldn't speak up about certain issues I was going through when I took on extra work. I really enjoyed the team meetings after the shows, even though they were far and few in between sometimes.

Whatever you're opinion, this place is very unique to work for, just be sure you're mentally and physically prepared depending on where you apply.

There were times the job was fun, but most of the time it was overly stressful and difficult. It seemed that no one in management could stay on the same page, and there were about 8 different people giving different directions. We were often left to fend for ourselves with no backup from management when we had a difficult time with customers (which was daily). There were sometimes special shows or dance competitions, in which we had to endure angry parents yelling at us because we didn't allow outside food or drink. Every shift was 5 hours or more and I didn't once get a break to sit down; only those who smoked got to go on a "smoke break", leaving everyone who didn't to cover their work for 15 minutes or more.

Working in the Greg frewin theatre brings a lot of happiness to my day. My coworkers are hilarious and a blast to work with, I've never had a dull day working here. I can say right now that the hours I work are reasonable, and the work I do is challenging and fun. I plan on working here for quite some time. Learning about the environment getting to know everyone has brought me happiness to my workplace never felt appreciated untill landing this job.

If it were possible to give zero stars, that would better reflect my experience working here.

The workplace lacked organization. Feedback from management was critical of employees’ “personality” rather than constructive, and concerns raised by staff were not addressed at all. There was a lot of favoritism and a very toxic work environment (gossip, lies). There was very rude behavior from both staff and management, which made it extremely difficult to work there. I would not recommend this workplace.

The greatest place to work and the greatest people to work for. If you enjoy working for and with people who give you resepct then this place is for you. I've seen nothing but resepct from the dishwasher, to the owners and everyone in between. This is by far the best place I've ever worked at and the best people I've worked for. They put their employees first and that's rare. Can't say enough good things about this place and the Frewins

Previous employees gave nasty  reviews about theatre because they were the ones that got fired for not doing their job or not showing up
I've been working there 18 months and love it. Owners ,managers and all staff are  hardworking folk. We are there to do our jobs and we have fun too. 

Host,ticket sales,concession, and anything I can in making the audience feel welcomed.

Working at the theatre is an ok job, but I haven’t felt the most comfortable there.
There’s targeting and favourites with in the business, which gets very frustrating to with stand seeing all the time. 
I definitely learned how to work with people better then I did before.
My shifts were short but not what I wanted

Love going to work    The shifts go by so fast. Tips are great.  Management go out of their way to help you any way they can.   It's a real team environment   Everyone helps each other out .      It's a very unique venue  the majic  show is amazing therefore makes the servers job easier people are happy they can get table service     All in all great place to work
