Not a good place to be if you want to go home and not be stressed. Everyone speaks poorly of eachother. Don’t believe what they say about hours, pay, etc..It sounds great in the beginning, and they don’t keep on their promises. And absolutely no job security. Just when you think you’re doing well and comfortable, they’ll fire you. I watched it happen to so many. The HR department is poorly trained in how to be a human. They’ll check in on how you’re doing only to use it against you. They are in it to make themselves look good only. All departments work against eachother instead of with eachother. It’s heavily felt in the atmosphere and clients know it too. Clients don’t want to do business because the employees act as if the population owes them so business is slow. When you do something big, someone else will take recognition for it.  Spare yourself the terrible pay and your energy, and work elsewhere where you will be genuinely appreciated. The turn over is scary high but they won’t tell you that. 

Gelderman's is a great company to work for . Everybody is very friendly , caring , kind and compassionate from the CEO to the general labourers. This company cares about you and wants you to succeed in every aspect of the job and your life for that matter .  Gelderman's does a lot things that other companies don't do or don't care about doing. Whether its appreciation BBQ's , Spring and Fall kickoffs , payed overtime or payed holidays they are always looking to be better for their employees . Gelderman's treats everybody with care and respect regardless of who you are .  They do quality work , pay fair wages and always listen to employee concerns . I am very happy to be a part of the Gelderman team  and encourage anyone looking for a career in landscape to apply and join the Gelderman team.

I was here for two years they promised a lot of growth within the company. They seemed like a great company to start with, but then realized it was totally different. Unfilled promises, they could let go someone before they were to pay them their bonuses. Double standard with behaviour within crew leaders and crew members. HR is very rude and unprofessional. Watch out because HR doesn't have your back as an employee, will miscommunicate to management about issues. Only has the company in mind and not the employees that serious issues that need to be resolved. That's why this company has poor management and leadership to move forward. Zero to no benefits for full time employees.  Anyone who wants a serious job/career in the landscape industry do not apply here.

Overall, Gelderman is a really good place to work. There are opportunities to move up in your division if you're willing to work hard, the company recognizes and rewards good employees for their hard work. They invest in great trucks and equipment. The work is very demanding (goes with the industry) so it's not for everyone. Upper management does not seem to listen to or receive feedback from employees and I think this is to their detriment. There is a disconnect between upper management and crew member staff that should be resolved. Gelderman does offer good benefits and salary options for long term employees (health benefits, RRSP, salary). They also pay overtime and holiday pay that you don't usually get in landscaping, which is a bonus. 

Easily one of the best places I've worked in this industry. The positive 'Can Do' attitude fostered by upper management is a great motivation tool, even on the hardest days.
Working with people who are just as interested in you and your family as they are your work achievements.
Nice bonuses shared throughout the company along with recognition of your efforts offering fun team building events and summer monthly BBQ's.
Stands out on it's own in this industry as a place to work, grow and develop within the company.

Worked here for two years, was promised various different things from moving up in the company, performance based raise, training for certificates and training purposes. None of that came to completion. Once a person starts making more money, you become expendable and too expensive. They will lie to you about moving up in the company. You should buy into our team culture, but they don't have a team mentality at all. Issues are never dealt with professionally or appropriately. I would not recommend this company to work for, or recommend for customers looking for a company to maintain their property.

I've worked for a handful of landscaping companies and Gelderman is the best of the bunch. Management is excellent...very accessible and easy to talk to. Co-workers are friendly, professional and good at their jobs. Pay is better than average, with excellent incentives (hourly winter premium of up to $6/hr; end of winter bonus; profit sharing). They pay OT (time-and-a-half) for any work over 44 hours in a week, which is rare in landscaping. Four day work week during the summer -- with the option of overtime if you want it -- is quite nice.

- generally doing new things every day to complete landscape projects that range from 1 afternoon - 5 months.
- management does their best to place you on a crew with employees you have things in common with. 
- great daily exercise, but wears and tears the body if you aren't prepared for the labour work. 
- overall a great job if you love the outdoors and working in the hot summer sun!

I well rounded work environment for various levels of experience. safety is of utmost importance and is always a respectful workplace. Employees concerns are listened to and recommendations are sometimes put into action. I always enjoyed the co workers and upper management I worked with. I looked forward to going to work everyday. a great place to hone your skills. 

they provide a variety of quality services and strive to always get the job done right. they always ensure that all employees are well taken care of by providing 4 day weeks with optional over time, on hot days they provide water and once a month there is usually a bbq at the end of the day. in general due to the kind and welcoming nature of the company most if not all employees are dedicated to working hard and doing the best job they can.
