The most enjoyable part of this job is working with the clients that the company has scheduled me with. 

The management is very easy to deal with, when I call the office, or send in a message I always get a response either right away or within the day.  They do their best to accomodate me

We work remotely, thats what home care is. We assist people in their homes with their personal care, ADL's, etc Depending on our schedule, and wants, we may be scheduled for an 8 hours shift one day, and then the next day it might be a couple of shorter shifts. I do like the variety. Genuine does their best to keep us with the same grouping of clients so that we are familiar with the needs of those particular clients. It is a much better set up than some of the other companies I have worked for where we get our schedule that morning and we have never even met those clients or know what they want, or we get there and its a 20 minute shift. That is not what Genuine does at all, and I am thankful. Genuine gives us enough time to care for our clients, and if the client needs more help and we are able to stay, Genuine will accomodate this.

The hardest part of my job is work life balance, but I have only requested 20 hours a week so that I can maintain this, Genuine has been great about responding to this request.  I have always had a difficult time managing this, especially in a health care setting. I love working and helping people, all I want to do is work but I have to limit that and remind myself that my kids need me too. 

This is not an 8-5 desk job. Welcome to health care! I love the flexibility of the hours here. I can actually schedule a life outside of work, be home to get dinner on the table and can commit myself to time with my kids. It honestly awesome.  I am paid well, lots of downtime that I am paid for where I’m not actually at  work. It’s a really generous pay structure unlike other home care companies that send you to 10 different places in 2 hours and only pay you for 2 hours. This company will pay you based on the number of clients you see. I received benefits once I hit full time hours, most people don’t want them so you just have to ask management and they are quick to help. My clients are really happy with this company and so are my coworkers. We are treated fairly, there’s always someone at the end of the phone if I have an issue. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing really, payment is very low, constant pressure and demand to pick up shifts, even you already have 40 hours, no overtime payments.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Mixed culture. Coworkers and clients are usually very good and friendly, boss  is very demanding

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constant stress.  Almost no time to drive between clients, some clients are very demanding and grumpy

I really enjoyed working for this company. I worked with them for 8 years, in that time, I started off as an HCA, gained lots of experience working with an assortment of clients, which I enjoyed as it expanded my scope of practice. Working with Genuine inspired me to go back to school to obtain my LPN, I was able to keep working with Genuine while doing my school. Scheduling was so flexible and accommodating. Once I graduated as an LPN, Genuine transitioned my role to an LPN role, which I was very appreciative of. The only reason why I had to leave was because I had a baby 3 months ago, but plan to return within the year. 

I’ve been working with Genuine for just over a year and it’s been a really positive experience. The coordinators make an effort to match me with clients that suit my skills and personality, which makes the work so much more rewarding. The team is supportive and if I ever have a question or an emergency I can get someone on the phone right away. Scheduling is consistent and they try to be flexible when I need time off. Like any home care job there can be last minute changes but they communicate well and do their best to make it fair. Overall I feel respected, valued and part of a team that truly cares about both clients and staff

I have worked for this company for several years. Quite often it doesn’t feel like a job. I honestly can’t believe I get paid for doing what I do. A typical day for me involves going to my clients home, assisting them to get up in the morning, helping them with their exercises, all ADL’s completed. It doesn’t take very long, we have had a great chat during my shift and before you know it, my shift is over and I’m either heading home or off to assist another client if I’m scheduled to see another. It’s quite an easy gig. Love the clients I see, admin for Genuine is so pleasant to work with. I can’t see me quitting anytime soon, it’s been 6 years already. Wow the time has flown. 

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Genuine as a Health Care Aide for the past 3 years, and it’s been a truly positive experience. The management team is supportive, approachable, and genuinely values both their clients and staff. Schedules are flexible, communication is clear, and I’ve always felt appreciated for the work I do.

Genuine goes above and beyond to ensure clients receive quality, compassionate care, and it’s rewarding to be part of a team that takes pride in making a real difference in people’s lives. I’m proud to represent this company and look forward to continuing to grow here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My late client was the best part of the job , may his soul rest in peace always.. other than that an awful company to work for as far as health care companies go .

The lack of leadership and planning.

I’ve been working with genuine for over 10 years, it’s been a great experience. They really care about their clients and make sure that we are matched with people who fit our skills and personalities. Schedules are fair, communication is easy, and I always feel supported. It’s nice working for a company that treats both clients and staff with respect. 

I started with Genuine during Covid and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Management was on top of safety protocols and made sure we had the support we needed.  They checked in often both at work and personally. I always felt safe, valued and proud to be helping clients who needed us more than ever at such an uncertain time for all of us.
