Grand & Toy was an amazing place to work. 

The fast pace environment really helped me become organized and detail oriented. From answering phone calls to replying to endless emails, there was always something to do. 

The management at Grand & Toy was unfortunately over tasked. Having so much to do in a day did not allow them to manage the work area as effectively as they could have. 

The most difficult part about this job was maintaining customer sanctification as a product specialist. My job was to purchase items from other suppliers for our clients because we didn't have it in stock for them. The struggle to find the correct item that met all the customers needs was very difficult but extremely rewarding. Even though this was the hardest part, I also consider it the most enjoyable. There's something about a challenge that really helps me step it up. It was great to have a customer tell me that I did a great job and got them exactly what they were looking for. 

Although it was a tough job, I also consider it one of the best places to work. It helped me become the professional I am today.

I don’t enjoy nothing, I had so much stress, indiscretion, push push, poor training, just they know you have experience and go and guess all the system or you hope for the best. The people who work more years do wherever they want and so self fish don’t help you just they live you to feel dow and they don’t want us to learn push you away,  I like it the company name no who run the please or the team very hard and cold people. there’s no organization it’s about go go push push do your best cero respect for the new employe or workers. no team o good leader, supervisor poor, manager poor. If one employee work years there and know more then she or he turn special and wherever she see or do it’s ok they have the control. They don’t treat as a human they treat as a Robot in my opinion. That’s I feel, only option it’s to be honest my self to leave the company. Because I was in stress they don’t care about the person only about the production go go push push. 

I worked at an office stationery store for a period of time, and it was a fairly typical retail experience. My main responsibilities included helping customers find products, restocking shelves, and keeping the store organized. The environment was calm and predictable, with a steady flow of people looking for everyday items like notebooks, pens, and printer supplies. I also handled transactions at the register, which helped me become more comfortable with basic customer service and cash handling.

The job required attention to detail, especially when organizing inventory and ensuring items were properly labeled. While it wasn’t particularly fast-paced or demanding, it provided a consistent routine and a chance to build practical skills. My coworkers were easy to get along with, and the overall atmosphere was professional but relaxed. It was an ordinary job, but it gave me useful experience in responsibility, communication, and working as part of a team in a retail setting.

As a office furniture installer/serviceman, my day started off preparing for deliveries/installation at various locations. Most times I had a helper with me while other times I worked with my co-workers at designated locations for paricular installaions(Transport Canada Offices, for example). I really enjoyed the results, as you see how it looks after and cusomer is happy. Heavy lifting was required(300lbs desk deliveries) which was nonetheless challenging at places since the furniture had to remain scratch-free, obviously. I also supervised a crew of 8-10 employees fro a week long install at a health and wellness building. I really enjoyed that along with the challenges it brought. I work well with others, so never did any issues arise. Often enough I was the truck driver too, using either the 3 or 5 ton company truck for deliveries. It was fun. The room for advancement in this company was always limeted, as became the work,

Worked for the company for close to 15 years. It became evident the best way to progress through the company is sucking up. It doesn't matter how hard you work, if someone really likes you, you'll be promoted.. deserving or not (and majority of the time, it's not). It's really unfortunate how some of the staff are treated - favourites are quickly chosen and if you're not one of them, tough luck! Multiple associates I've known have reached out to management for help (work related) and are usually met with a "figure it out, I'm busy" response. When I started, it was a fun company to work for.. it's a shame to say those days are long, long gone. I can't imagine they'll be around much longer after going through aggressive layoffs multiple years in a row now. Senior leadership needs to go if they want to bounce back.

If you are looking for a job keep looking and stay away from this one.
There is no motivation, no team spirit, there is no training, a manager will call the first employee they see to tell you what to do, this employee will spend 5 minutes or less with you and that’s it, you are on your own. There is no follow up from any manager to talk to you if you have any questions. Management team will not spend a minute with you but they do have time to go for smoke 3 or 4 time a day and/or they go to the strip mall to get coffee but they don’t have time to train you.
Also, beware that this is not a full time job, you will be lucky if you work 30 – 35 hours per week because at any time during the day a manager will come to you and tell you that your working day is done and they send you home, this will impact your budget.


A typical work day at Grand & Toy is relaxed but serious and professional. We are introduced to new technologies, programs and systems every month to keep us learning and adapting to new situations. The individuals I have the pleasure of working with are very resourceful and are always willing to work as a team and Management offers us the structure and the tools we need to succeed at our job. 
Management have made it a big part of our employment with Grand & Toy to come up with fun ideas and activities for the employees to enjoy while offering an unmatched professionalism towards our clients.

My 25 years at Grand & Toy / Office Max / Office Depot were amazing.
The company had a great culture largely in part to my excellent, immediate manager and took a keen interest in me as a person and my career aspirations.
I attended many courses that the company paid for in full, to enhance my skill sets.  
The office supply industry is so competitive and became a "who is buying who" scenario that ultimately lead to the complete restructure of Grand & Toy that culminated in the lay-offs of hundreds of employees which is too bad as I would have loved to have stayed and finished my career with them.

I was a Customer Care Representative with Grand & Toy for one year. The work environment was great and you were treated like a person and not just a number. All of the supervisors and upper management were approachable and always willing to listen to your ideas or troubles (personal).

Working at Grand & Toy was like working with your family, everyone helped everyone and we were all equals. I was deeply saddened when the call centre closed and I  was no longer going to see all of these wonderful people everyday.

I would have retired here if I could...best company I have had the pleasure to work with.

While the local leadership at the office I worked out of was fantastic, everything on a head office/corporate level is absolutely heartless. Time and time again they fire people in masses, only to hire a new wave of people in a few months. Whether it's for budgetary reasons, or changing directions, they would rather fire people instead of retraining and retaining their existing people. It's a decent job with good pay, but you will always feel like you can be let go at any time no matter who you are or how well you do. Not a mentally healthy place to work.
