rig ins are physical. very minimal mechanical means used for running lines. flow backs are ok. when dumps going and L2 not sealed well you get gased with well gas or propane cuz you keep doors and windows shut in -30. H2s and high pressure on the well and there is no extra pay for the hazardous work. All the biocide and other chems they pump down the well during fracks and clean outs you flow back and get at the sample point blasted in your face at 500psi or more on the tank back pressure. 
no schedule period. some ok sups there sometimes. management is decent for the most part. 
not much opportunity moving up as the patch is slow overall, cant really blame them for that.
You get very average pay for amount of work you do and hazards you exposed to but you get a pretty good grasp on whats going on at completions stage on unconventional horizontal well...

A typical day at work would be keeping track of the oil levels as well as the gas level. Making sure that constant communication between the team was there because in the Oil field anything could happen. A great thing about Grant Production was that the management team either the shop or head office were all personable and willing to help in any way they can, it felt like a small family. Working out on site was difficult but fun because you get to be in a different scene for 15 sum days and around different kinds of people so it teaches you how to adjust to your surroundings. While working at Grant Production I learned how to take gas readings , fluid readings , how to carry a heavy metal pipe , as most importantly how to survive in the cold. .My most enjoyable part was getting some insight into the Oil & Gas field.

To sum up working at Grant PTSD  it used to be a really good company, the field guys could discuss with management their concerns without worry of negative backlash from the office.
The current VP of operations has made it very clear it's an open door policy...come talk to him and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Numerous pay cuts over the years since he was brought on.
Company morale is horrible as well.
Long story short it's not the best place...not the worst ace to work at but be prepared to get walked all over and if you stand up for yourselves there's backlash for doing so.

Sometimes the Oil Companies change plans drastically resulting in temporary job losses.

Generally professional and friendly with the expected oil world attitudes.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long shifts, with hard work during Rig-In and Rig-Out. More laid back during Flowing operations.

This is a great place to learn about the industry and there is lots of opportunity to move up if you put in your time and show ambition. Management including upper management was always open to discuss any problems or concerns I had. Good people and steady work compared to other companies. Pay increases possible with loyalty to company. 

Just don't work there terrible place to work management is a joke, no work / home life they will act like they own you. Crew houses are disgusting/ dirty they don't have cleaners come, mattresses are covered in urine and other nasty stuff Got ringworm twice staying at their nasty crew house. They won't disinfect crew house after a positive Covid test.. got covid because of this lack of common sense 


Most days in the field are 14 hours so it hard but the pay is good.  Bonuses are good to, just got my 5 years - 5,000 dollars. At 10 years - 10,000.  Management could improve but there have been lots of changes lately.  The hours are the hardest part of the job, needs to be more work life balance.  If you are single, its great.  Field employees I work with are the best.

Payed by the day, no bonus pay or incentives to work overtime, basic day is 12 hours, could be there for 16-18 hours with no extra pay, the longer you work a day the less you make 

Pay close attention to your training and be aware of the work culture in the oil field if this should be your very first time working in the industry.

Very good place to work hard working people was taught everything I know for testing. Testing samples and checking gas rate and fluid rates from well to well. Know how to work hard and pace myself when needed. Very relaxed environment. Also very good under pressure
