Ive worked in the company for at the table games department for more than 5 years now and here are some of my observations:

1. They dont care about their employees. Work moralle in this company is extremelly low. Employees in all departments are enslaved by the management. Any health and safety concerns you might have will just be shrugged off. Note: the management is reactive more than procative. They will wait for something wrong to happen before they do something. They dont care about you as their employee because all there after is money and not preserving their human assets- their employees. 

2. The employer ensures they save the most on labour expenses. Everyone that works here are under appreciated of their hardwork. If you are looking for a job that expects you to work hard but dont pay you right, you just found the right place. For table games dealers, expect to rely half of your wage from tips. And tips are extremely variable. For table games supervisors, expect that dealers may make more money than you, with the wage and tips combined. For managers, expect to come to work early unpaid. You will only be given 
the power to control everyone like your pawns but you as well wont be paid enough. 

3. Schedulling is chaotic. You will most likely be expected or required to work weekends and holidays. Casino is open 24/7 and its peak hours are at night, the odds of you working nights is high. [Insert casino pun: Just like your odds of losing when playing their 6-5 blackjack, hit on soft 17 tables]

4. The only thing that is good in this place are the people that works here. Its a community with different backgrounds. Its not perfect but id say if you treat everyone with respect, you will also be treated as one.  

5. If you work in the table games, expect many players that will cuss you or disrespect you. These kind of behaviours arent much taken seriously by the management. It will take a long time before security will be there to assist you. While waiting for them to arrive, youre most likely there on your own to defend yourself. Disrespectfull players might be banned for a short time but you will see them again harrasing other employees. 

6. They built the largest casino in north america. As their employee you will be in the tiniest break room to be shared with the whole department. Also, employees will be sharing parking with patrons (this is a potential safety concern.) There are plenty of concerns from the employees regarding the new casino but so far no progress nor responses addressing our concerns

7. HR will literally hire anyone. This can be a good and a bad thing. Its good that they give people jobs but also bad cause there are many incompetent people who cant handle the job. And speaking of HR, you will be struggling to reach out with them. Communication between HR and table games employees is definitelly lacking.

Management wasn't to bad and I got on with them all pretty well . 
But my co workers where so horrible it was unreal ! 
From the first day that I started working there , until my last day when I finally woke up and quit . I found them all to be very bossy unhelpful and rude in every way imaginable. 
Even in the beginning when I first started there , and was working on my own after only three days of training, and if I fell behind in my work or asked them for some advice on something they would either say to me  that " Your surposed to know what your doing !" , or basically just walk away from me . Leaving me just hanging there to figure out whatever the problem was on my own . That's NOT VERY NICE ! Pretty horrible actually. Very unthoughtful of them to be like that with a new hire . 
In my previous job before working at this casino. Training New hires was a main part of my job for decades , and for the first week or so I would always threat these new people with kid gloves. In fact telling them that if they had any problems at all doing their work no matter what it was to just speak up and tell me . And not to worry about it in anyway at all because I'll help them to resolve the problem right away . " Just Ask !" 

Anyway it never was offered at any time in this casino at all . EVER ! 
Your totally on your own , pretty well from day one .

Another thing that I disliked about my co workers in this place as well was . That on the overnight shift they wouldn't exactly do a good job at all , as is required. 
They would rush through the whole job and by 4.30am they would be all done . Then they'd hid out in the locker room or play with their phones in the cafeteria until about 5.30am and then go home! 
Getting someone else to badge them out on the time clock at the end of the shift at 8am .

My job working in there wasn't anything that I couldn't handle.
After working there for two years I was well settled in , and by this time I actually had grown to like it quite a bit .
As long as I could avoid these other employees as much as possible. 
Which I did! 
Unfortunately though one night while on the12am to 8am shift while walking back up threw the casino, one of these co workers started yelling and screaming at me for some reason. 
Embarrassing me in front of the customers who where there at the time . Some of who knew me quite well from working there . 
Well for me this was the straw that broke the camels back . 
Honestly don't know what went wrong there , other than what I did know was that this particular employe had it in for me for some time . 
Anyway when  I came home at the end of that shift . 
I decided that that's it , I've had enough , and I don't need to take it anymore from these people . 
So I went back to the casino the next morning into H R and quit ! 
To Bad ! 


Steady 8 hours per day 5 days a week with optional OT depending on your department. Some department have option of 10hours per day 4 days a week which would allow you for another part-time job or study. 

Given the amount of complaints you receive daily, I've greatly improved my customers service and communication skills.

Once you work here, you will realized the workers here are amazing, especially the new ones. Many employees have worked here 10+ years, and that's the reason why you will see a lot of senior working in days and night time you will see much younger workers.

Although the workers are amazing at River Rock, the management is a mess. Many services does not deliver due to management's lack of understanding of front line needs. Promotions are being created without tailor to their target customer's interest, and poor event coordination lead to short staff, insufficient equipment and machine malfunctions. These leads to further more complaints and leaving negative experience. The service workers gave their best to make up for these shortage, but these star performers are often not recognized.

The hardest part of the job is lack of advancement outside of graveyard shift. The company is filled with workers who have worked there since opening.new comers are not only forever stuck in graveyard or late night shift, but also constantly getting their shift and vacation dates rejected due to seniority.

Most enjoyable part of the job are the great people you work with. River Rock has great eye for energetic and friendly workers. These people will not only be your college but some may become part of your casual outing scene. The company is big with many departments, you can meet people from all walks of life and be amaze with their diverse background.

This job is perfect if you have school, have a children to tend or simply in between jobs. The income is stable, decent benefit, meals included and get to meet cool people.

I started off as a Slot Attendant and its honestly one of the easiest jobs I have ever had. I have worked at restaurants, in retail, and in offices. With tips, you're making about $18 to $20 to start off with and get an increase in wage every year. Where can you make that money anywhere else without having any education or doing intense labour work?

Like any service and hospitality job, sometimes it gets busy and you have to work your butt off. And of course, there's always going to be difficult and mean customers but that's what happens when you work with the general public.

There's medical benefits and many opportunities for advancement. I've read the other reviews and I can guarantee the negative ones are from lazy workers who a) have been employed too long with the company and don't realize how horrible other jobs are or b) just naturally negative people who hate everything and everyone.

If I had to put in one major con of the job, it would be the terrible and negative long-term employees who complain about everything. Work would be more fun if I didn't have to work with toxic individuals who hate everything about their job. If it's such a bad place and company to work for, why don't you quit and find another job? Don't ruin work for everyone else. You get paid to do the easiest job on the planet so make the most of it!

There are so many opportunities for growth and advancement if you put in the time and effort. Of course there's standards so if you're expecting to sit around doing nothing/get paid for it, try working as a graveyard parking stall attendant or a cashier at a low volume retail store.

Bad shifts lots of favouritism .. Not all but most fellow employees are Horrific, and in no way helpful at all , they're bossy as well as rude . They won't take two minutes to help you out , but will spend a lot of time telling everyone else how you screwed up! Never had any problems with Management or Supervisors as they all treated me nicely and with respect . However this place needs someone to crack the whip to get these employees in line again. They will take advantage of you at any chance that they can get , and they will literally will stand back and let you do all the work, or at least the hardest part of it. No matter what shift they're on they will at times leave early and you'll be left holding the baby ! On the overnight shift they will do the minimum required and have all there work completed by approximately 4.30 am or 5.30am , then spend the rest of the shift either hiding in the washrooms or hiding in the employe cafeteria watching TV or playing games on there phones!! Lots of times I would go in at the start of my shift and find that the employee before my shift had just left a lot of there job for me to do ! Then I had no choice but to do the work that they where suppose to do and hadn't . So this is how I would spend the first  hour on my shift . If it hadn't been for these people and one especially then I wouldn't have left . The job wasn't anything that I couldn't handle ,it was solely the people I had to work with . To Bad!!

Day at work or should i say night work will always be fun, exciting and clueless afterwards. Fun meeting new guests; exciting wherein you'll find out which table and guests gonna win more or loose and  who gonna tip you and  not tip you and give rewards for your hardwork and for cheering them which one better; clueless since you don't know will happen later of your shift. If its busy or not and you will just stand on the table and keep n eye to your table for safety and security of your chips.
I've learned and I still keep on learning different language, how to deal and dealt more with a guests that has lots of money, how to control more and manage your patient and how to comfort and convince guests that are loosing more instead of winning. Management were helpful especially on schedule and table games. They were fair and there were equal treatment at all times. Co-workers were great. They will keep on teaching you and supporting you and motivate you until you'll be the one to do the same to the newly hired dealers or new comers in any Department. Hardest part of job was like repetitive job so sometimes injury will come along but then still you'll keep working for your family. Most enjoyable part over all is meeting different types of people from different countries and became good friends later on. The more you have friends the more you'll enjoy life and discovered new things from them and learned from each other.

As a Casino Security Officer, the job wasn't too bad. You rotate positions and are given breaks throughout your shift. As you get promoted to Supervisor, you'll be dealing with the majority of serious incidents. Supervisor is a salary position, so you're not paid for overtime. If an incident happens near the end of your shift, you'll be working basically for free because the investigation and reporting will go over your time. They have a Union now, so hopefully that's changed. For example if they now have a 1 hour overlap between Supervisor shifts, then you'll have time to finish reports and not attend late incidents. A positive note is that you're dealing with numerous incidents in one work environment that you may not get elsewhere. So the experience gained is very positive, even if you feel overwhelmed at the time. As a Supervisor you could be dealing with numerous incidents at the same time. Great communication and conflict resolution is key.  Detailed report writing in a timely manner is also important. In my Security experience, Management is good at the River Rock compared to other work places. Finally if you don't like shift work then it's not for you. Day shift usually goes to the guys with seniority much like other job sites. Overall, there is room for advancement and it's not a bad job.   

I worked at this organization and had a very difficult experience with the workplace environment after a change in supervision.

In recent months, the work environment became increasingly stressful and uncomfortable for employees. I personally experienced inappropriate and unprofessional comments from a supervisor, including personal questions unrelated to work and remarks that made me feel singled out based on background.

The overall environment felt increasingly tense, and many employees appeared affected in terms of stress and well-being. There was also a sense of being closely monitored while working, which made it difficult to perform duties comfortably.

Concerns raised by myself and other co-workers were brought forward through appropriate channels; however, there was no clear communication of outcomes or effective resolution. This contributed to a lack of trust in the internal reporting process.

I also reached out through union channels, but I did not receive a response or follow-up regarding my concerns.

Due to the ongoing lack of resolution and the impact on workplace well-being, I ultimately decided to leave.

I hope the organization reviews how employee concerns are handled and ensures a more supportive and respectful environment going forward.

Its the people you work with that make the place a good place to work. The hours are terrible unless you've been there for a long time. If your wanting to move up the ladder to supervisory/ managment positions you move down the ranks in shifts and days off. The money is good so theres not alot of movement in supervisory personnel. So when the chance comes to move up your the rookie and your designated as "Flex Flex" meaning no set days off no set shifts so you are all over the place. They keep to the "Labour Standard" if your short shifted its exactly 8 hrs between shifts from clocking out to clocking back in. You may also work alot with split days off. Tones of rules and lots of proceedures come with working here. Don't break any or you can expected to get written up. If your front line staff i.e. Dealers , Slot Attendants, Cashiers, Servers, if its quiet you go home. So these people tend to be the group with the largest amount of turn around. They don't lay off so your forced  to quit because you can't live off what you'll earn if your not working.
