There were a laughable amount of miscommunications working there, though understandable considering the language barrier. A lot of the procedures and changes to said procedures made little sense, especially due to the lack of explanation for them. It was mildly frustrating when they did not allow for even the slightest bit of input from me despite having had worked the longest/most, though it is possible that they simply did not wish to waste time on translating everything to English and vice versa. It is a good place for those whose native language is Korean as Hmart offers them a comfortable environment to work in their mother tongue, however the same cannot be said for non-Koreans. If you do not understand a word in Korean, I could not recommend this place less. 

For customers the store looks very nice. Coworkers are nice.  However, almost all workers are Korean, so they communicate in Korean. Manytimes they gave us information in Korean. There is no information for other people. I got hired as full time but they gave me only part time shifts. Personal department never sent me back email when I ask about my shifts. Even if I work 8 hours they give me only 30 minutes break. Store manager doesn't communicate with nonkorean people, but when he find something wrong he give warning to us very strictly. We are cashier department, but he let us clean up for store.
I don't recommended to work here.
There is no benefits.
No discount. Not enough break. 

I used to work at the Steeles branch.
The manager was very prim and asked me for a lot of things.
It was a Korean mart, but I could talk to guests from various countries.
I was able to know and explain many things about Korea.
But I had a lot of work to do because I had less time off and less staff
It was difficult to communicate because there were so many things in Korean.
It is fine if you are a Korean who can't speak English,
If not, I recommend doing something else.

The most challenging aspect of the job is interacting with people. You can reason with the coworkers and the management, but the customers will harass you from time to time, and there's nothing you can do about it. I guess it's like working at any other retail place, but with more entitled customers who think of you as a lower-class worker. Not the worst place to work, and getting to work here as a first full-time job helped me build character. 

Working as a cashier here can be quite exhausting. You are standing for most of the shift with very little time to sit or rest. The work itself is simple, but dealing with customers all day can be stressful, especially when some customers are rude. Unfortunately, management does not always step in or support employees when difficult situations happen. Overall, it can be a tough job if you are looking for a supportive environment.

Mainly I worked as a cashier and a member of customer service team in one of branch where is MtoM. I met and served a lot of customer on every day. It was a high-turnover circumstance. In that environment, I was become highly skilled in organize time and manner connected with including customer service, team working and display products

People here love gossips. Pay is minimum while overworked. Management don't care about your well-being. Some people love talking bad about you and destroy your reputation and they can't see their own work. Used to be good until we started getting understaffed, but they don't do a thing about it.

Work is easy and simple, by times it gets hard dealing with people due to the nature of customer service jobs. Co-workers were nice to work with, however, there's a frequent turnover rate. Management resembles the traditional Korean work culture - this may feel somewhat toxic if you are not familiar with it.

One of my first jobs, my experience was more-or-less standard for a cashiering job. However, my manager was not great at communicating; when I fell ill, I made it clear I would not be able to work my shifts, yet they kept pushing, and it resulted in me quitting.
