There are many different departments to work in which is great once you get your foot in the door, if you want to move around.  Some areas have opportunity for advancement, it depends on the department. Unfortunately, some of the departments are known to be toxic, in particular the Finance Division has a bad reputation for this.  Some areas have have a great deal of gossiping and backstabbing as people vie for higher positions.

Senior Management (CAO) is abusive and the union won't file grievances. The pay is far below what other municipalities pay for similar positions, and there are many promises of training but no follow through. You will have to figure out what you are supposed to be doing by yourself. Perhaps positions in the outside of the central office in Cayuga are acceptable and have decent managers but I would avoid working in the Cayuga office at all costs. Worst job I've ever had.

Working in the community and services has dramatically improved my nursing skills. Sometimes it is difficult a typical day of work due to short of staff " but it is the same everywhere else", but generally, we collaborated with each other. Management is good, but as everywhere sometimes communication is not great. It is a lot of work stability, benefices, and pension plan.

This is an excellent low pressure but high opportunity to learn and professionally grow environment.  Not necessarily in terms of rank growth or pay growth but an understanding group of employees and a collaborative peers.

Becoming a firefighter for Haldimand county, was the scariest best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve worked along side some of the most amazing people you could ever meet. I would still be there, if I didn’t move out of the province. 

It is an excellent opportunity for student employment with fair wages and many opportunities for advancement. It is a very fulfilling job being able to make a difference in a child's life through their programs.

I worked in summer camps, and it was fun sometimes, but most of the time the kids were difficult to deal with. Made it hard to have fun when you constantly have to yell and discipline campers. As for management and staff, they were all great and kind.

An excellent place to work as everyone seems to be less stressed and relaxed than people who live in large cities. Highly recommend anyone looking to gain experience and have great bosses to assist in your growth.

Overall good place to work, nice people, good environment, great benefits and flexible hours including work from home options. Pay is lower than other similar jobs/municipalities. 

I was a summer co-op student for the Roads Department. It was a great learning experience and the Kohler team was really welcoming. Hard-working employees that are also laid-back
