The company has it's good moments & bad.If you like to walk & don't mind the exercise then this job is for  you.The agency this company uses people store is bad. PEOPLE STORE is located in hbc building.PROS:they dont care who you are but they careless if you go home after working 2 hours only wasting your time commuting or driving there.they don't give notice. And if hbc is not busy.youll be going home.Agency makes millions from u guys applying for them experience or not.you make them millions.avoid people store located in 100 metropolitan rd.the supervisors are rude and they mess up your pay.Hbc has good fulltime workers not all but some will teach you properly as others will just rush you. Hbc is a big building the size of 5-6 big departments stores.the cafeteria is big new but it's louder then mall.conversations bounce off the high ceilling.its setup like a highschool and with foldable benches like highschool lunch room.not comfy stiff.if you have patience to work here at hbc and come year after year for some jobs.they always have job postings and lots of overtime if you need it.jobs from outbound and few in inbound. The pay is decent and theres always elevated positions and opportunities.this is my knowledge and hopefully it has helped you.Goodluck!

The most memorable days at work is that when our supervisor told us that we had made our goals exceeded to the max and we were given a special treat for it & the most typical day is that when we were given a day notice advance that we were laid off due to shorted of work. The management had their own ways of doing things right,but for my own experience we don`t have much choice when job security is concerned. My co-workers are just find, they only follow what is been accepted and allowed by the supervisor(s) to be done by individuals. We are obliged to the rules and regulation of the company & besides that we are all happy being co workers.The most hardest part of the job is that when someone got injured due to accident & overwork, & the most enjoyable part of job is that when the company gives us an extra overtime work, its an extra income for us workers.

Very fast paced environment where you were empowered to make changes.  You were encouraged to make changes and successful ideas were implemented and ideas that were not proven successful were never frowned upon, it was a learning tool for making informed decisions for going forward.  The management team was approachable and fun to work with.  The hardest part of the job was being restricted from performing tasks that I enjoyed as the warehouse was Unionized.  The most enjoyable aspect of working at HBC was that I could relate to all of the 350 employees.  It felt like a large expansion of my family.

This place is kind of a typical distribution environment. The work load was not difficult and you should have good job security, but the environment is obviously very drab, there's pretty much no room for advancement, and raises are kind of minimal, although they happen at pretty regular intervals. The environment is laid back, the work is monotonous, and you're paid accordingly. Much better than a job in the service industry in terms of the pay to work ratio, and better than a lot of warehouse jobs out there.

I worked at HBC for about 15 years until it was sold to Target an American company. In that time i did many roles from cleaners to a management position for a short time. I spent most my time in either shipping and receiving where i received product and distributed to proper areas of the company. Than i spent time in shipping where we loaded trailers for over 150 stores across Canada. It was a good place to work at first until politics of job got involved from being sold a few times to different owners.

I learned a lot of things, I worked in every department of the company. The people I worked with are nice and supportive. Its a huge company and a lot of walking because each customers have different order of the stuff and each stuff has a different place, but its good its like you are doing a window shopping and at the same time you have a walking exercise.

Working here for 20 years is fun, friendly environment! I got to assignef and trained in all department. I hav  trained to drive walkie to load merchandise into container and do paper works. I do work to department Put to stores doing pick n packing. I also mark down prices to hundreds of items

Good for students or temporary agency workers or temporary work. Work pay is good but management is terrible. Alot of walking pushing carts and using ladders to pick. Big warehouse not as big as Amazon but faulty big. About the size of 6 huge department stores at the mall.

I have learned a lot at this job. I started as full case associate and work through to get promoted step by step. First I get receivers job and then got the chance to work as a team lead.

For a student I'd say this job is ok, it was flexible and the person who scheduled me was very understanding however the work itself was often tedious, there were shifts where certain departments were understaffed leaving a heavy workload for those that were there but overall I'd say it was ok.
