What is the best part of working at the company?
Hotel Dieu Shaver is an amazing place to work. Some issues with people in other departments explaining job titles but nothing our ladies in HR can't handle! I am extremely grateful for my position at HDS

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with the immaturity of some of your coworkers thinking Noone does a better job than them! The gossip

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is very fair there are strict duties laid out for every employee at HDS. The culture is very diverse now if they can only figure a way to stop the gossip within UT would be the perfect place to work. I love waking up and not feeling stressed.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I'm in housekeeping so a typical day is me working my position doing several different things daily. Shipping and receiving, disinfection office, sweeping mopping, and of course helping anyone who needs assistance.

Great wage and benefits. Heavy workload. Very physical job, and there are lots of nurses that come and go on sick leave due to injuries from the heavy work. Staff can be very clicky, especially in the Nursing department. Lots of gossip and talking behind people's backs. Nice to you in person but will spread rumors when you're not around. Management not approachable.  Upper management is unsupportive to nurses. Moral is becoming lower with the staff.

I spent 20 years at Hotel Dieu Shaver as a medical social worker. My responsibilities included working with patients and their families regarding discharge location, dealing with day-to-day problems, and preparing reports for senior management. I was part of a multidisciplinary team and often acted as a case manager.i

Management is incredibly supportive and the culture is incredible. It is so nice to have found myself in an organization that is understanding, supportive and encouraging. Like anything, you get what you put in. The majority of staff are very team-minded and want the best for the patients and their colleagues. I consider myself so lucky to be employed at HDS. 

A good enough place to practice nursing. Heavy workload, full bedside care. You WILL work short, and often. Staff and fellow nurses are the backbone, management are sub par and out of touch like everywhere else these days. Don't expect much and you might like it enough to stay until you can find something better. Patients make it more enjoyable, but that's nursing these days. 

If you want to just work and keep quiet about issues,  this the place to work. Way to many managers that can't come together on anything. 
They'll ask your opinion just so they can say they asked. Your opinion doesn't matter. It may be a catholic hospital but they don't act like one. 

I am very happy with my job as a PSW at HDS great team to work with. I have learned many skills interacting with patients and co-workers. The past year 2020 was challenging with the pandemic trying to apply the safety precautions to prevent the spread of this virus. Excellent workplace.

There are drawbacks to every workplace of course but I wasnt sure I wanted to be a nurse anymore until I worked here is my overall experience.  Its not an easy job however, but, this workplace has strong teamwork and patient care standards. I hope it will remain this way.

Healthcare has a lot of demands and changes placing us under a fast paced demanding environment with limited analytical time and limited space

If you want to feel like you work in the military then work here. They don’t value a balanced work life. Co workers are all nice ppl but there is no fun factor involved in this setting.
