Halibut House Fish & Chips

I enjoyed the job, it works like a basic restaurant. The pay is regular and the hours I worked were normal. The other servers worked much longer hours with almost no time for breaks because they only had one server working at a time during the week. A good place to work if you love independence. It can be quite hard to juggle the take out orders, phone calls, patio tables and indoor tables all by yourself though. Management was a little confusing as I didn't know who was my supervisor although the other server handled things very well and they made training easy.

it was fast pace and never boring. 
i learned how to handle rushes by myself and to not feel overwhelmed when doing so. food was excellent and co-workers were understanding and we all worked well together.
the management was understanding but firm when needed.
the hardest part of the job was dealing with rude customers.  
the most enjoyable part of working at halibut house was the atmosphere. it was upbeat and busy.

Just.. disorganized, headache inducing, no respect is shown, blatant nationalism. The works. Customers are 7 times out of 10 not the greatest. Tip out is 15% of your pooled tips to kitchen which I’m sure is illegal, especially since at the location I worked the owners were the kitchen staff most of the time. A lot of abusive language and bribes thrown around. Stressful.

You will learn basic cooking job experience that you can use if you want to be in the industry like FIFO, food safety, inventory, breakfast menu, fish & chips, cleaning commercial fryers, potato peeler etc. If you’re into learning, it is easy to step up and learn things such as managerial task however don’t expect to get paid.

With all my years of experience as a cook and chef assistant ! I never thought i would be degraded as an employee no proper traing was hired as a cook ended up cutting and blanching frys all day no breaks never received tipout discouraged to work hear ! 

I worked my butt off in this establishment to be disrespected in the end for making a mistake and owning up for the mistake and paying cash Ayo of my own pocket for my mistake I loved every minute of my job I love meeting new people and I loved all my customers but they are very disrespectful people

Owners are all rude and demanding servers never allowed to sit down or eat, regardless of how long they have worked. Very hard to communicate with fellow co-workers due to the language barrier. GREEDY management, not good with keeping customers since they are so cheap with discounts

Customers are nice but generally tip low

Poorly run establishment, confusion and mayhem constantly, no communication and favoritism is constantly apparent, no appreciation for doing your job well, would not recommend a position there

Often was the only sever working on shift. Was either completely empty or very busy and i was over loaded. Might depend on location im unsure. Tips were terrible and the place felt dirty. The cooks were cool tho.
