Herbalife

The pay and benefits were very decent, but I never liked the business model (multilevel marketing). As a corporate employee, you obviously couldn't be part of the Herbalife Business, but I never felt comfortable contributing to enrolling people in a business model that, mathematically speaking, won't work for the vast majority.

I guess I never really bought the idea that we were "helping people live their best life". BS aside, we were working for a company that makes desperate people invest time and money in a business opportunity that will only make them lose their investment while the top of the pyramid gets wealthier in exchange for the blame of the idea that it was their fault because they simply didn't try hard enough.  

Anyway, the moral is to only work for a company that you believe in. 

Herbalife had a really friendly atmosphere. My supervisors were very encouraging. I was provided with a good training. I developed stronger communication skills and learned to manage an effective agenda. My job was to make clients and keep them satisfied with the company and its products. The hardest part was to encourage the clients, but with further experience in Herbalife, I was able to better understand them. I learned to observe their mood/needs/wants and tried my best to satisfy them. This way, my clients felt comfortable and attached to the company. Overall, my experience had been a pleasant one.

I had the privilege to work for a Fortune 500 company that has been one of the best work experiences for me. I learnt a lot and will never look back at this experience. Had it not been for personal circumstances I would see myself retiring in this company. Management is by leadership and example, very open communication. Hard work is rewarded and team building activities always encouraged.

In IT, off hours requests, but those come sporadically

Second home, sense of companionship, hardly feel like working, more like contributing to achieve something great

I have been a distributor of Herbalife for almost 2 years but it didn't work well for me. MLM / multilevel marketing is hard to be in if you don't know that much people and distributing products became a struggle for me after.
I had some clients whom really benefits and saw positive result on the products but after a while they find it expensive.

At Herbalife, not one day was the same. While working as a customer service representative, I was also in charge of the refunds and repurchase department. Meaning that everyday, I would take calls as a customer service rep or taking orders at the front desk, or handling a refunds and repurchase case, sometimes having to communicate with the Los Angeles office.

Guiding and helping staff to grow and work in a less stressful area
Teaching about products and how to deal with irate clients 
Building a solid team
Productivity was the main daily challenges and managing two shifts was the hardest part
Representing the company around Canada and the US

Herbalife has also helped me grow in several ways.  Dieting and daily exercise teaches you good self discipline.  People always come to me with health advice and I absolutely love it, I love that I have others looking up to me for advice.  I also love seeing people reaching their goals of being healthy and successful.
