Management seemed pretty relaxed. They'd always catch us being lazy, but as long as the store wasn't a disaster, stock was put away, the bathrooms were clean and we didn't have excess money in our tills (we were doing regular cash drops and counts) and customers were being served they didn't really care. (I worked there around 2018).

Pay was reasonable, but sometimes the types of customers you deal with make you wonder if it's worth it. Pretty standard for a retail job... They offer benefits as well. 

Most enjoyable part of the job was the co workers. I enjoyed being around most of my co workers at the location I worked at.

Hardest part of the job was just listening to old people constantly complain about the price of gas, and the ridiculous rushes that happened every time people thought the gas prices were going up like 5 cents per litre 
(so they could save a whole $3 filling their tank). Finding the time to have lunch was difficult on those days. 

I enjoyed my position immensely. The company itself is unsatisfactory. I stayed for so many years because I extremely enjoyed my job. Typically I would begin work by doing counts, and any other pre-opening jobs. Basically it was front end customer service. I developed a great report with regular customers. And, fellow co-workers as well. The hard part was having a company that made policy and procedures and when as employees we enforced them, the company would not stand behind you if a problem occured. The company always sided with the customer, never listening to what we had to say. The company works against the employees instead of for and with them.

The supervisor were very friendly

The stressful part of working there was the floater were acting like supervisor trying boss regular workers around

It was multiple culture company and every worker were being treated the same accept floater

Fun and relaxing not much stress

After high school, I started working at Hughes for awhile. It was a great place to start. You can talk to customers and make connections and eventually, they help you out too. Your bosses are always friendly and they help you in tough peak times. I've been assigned to multiple stores and some are challenging, but some are relaxed. You can stay fit by refilling propane bottles too. I've learned by experience how to become a good customer service person here.

My typical day at work involves clocking in and out for the scheduled shift, serving customers with P.O.S, doing litre checks and money checks through out the shift. My duties also include cleaning the store and the washroom, and putting out stock. 
I very seldom work with co-workers but when I do, we get along well in the work environment. Throughout a typical busy day, there isn't anything difficult to the job. The most enjoyable part of my day is being able to work without supervision, and working on my own.

I didnt particularly, super like working here. Th co-workers and customers i would have, we're deffinetly the highlight of working for thi company. The management was very poor, and they rarely took the time to follow up on issues or questions that you would have, and also picked favourites when it came to employees. Countless times i would have to work on stat holidays, while other employees (who they liked better for some reson) would sometimes get 5 day weekends because of this and i would work 7 days a week with no day off.

Hughes Petroleuom was my first job while I was attending Nait college during my program. For the amount of homework and studying, my job did not make me feel overwhelm at all. It had manageable hours that would not discourage me from school. Working at the gas station was a good experience of being in the work field for the first time. I hope my next job opportunity will be with your company in the near future.

Lazy employees that receive little to no punishment, completely rude managers that have no problem stepping out of line (ie. making job threats and laughing about it, inappropriate offensive jokes, racial accusations, fake friendly until you cant take a shift for them then rude, doesn't understand that we are all human and sometimes life gets in the way of us coming to a shift once in a blue moon). Quite a few of the customers were awesome but that's really what made it worth it.

The job it’s self is ok but you are expected to clean the store the whole time you are at work everyday and everything it comes to the point where you are cleaning clean things just to make it look like you are doing something with your time. The management time have 0 communication skills which makes it hard to get something done from them when needed

Pays minimum wage, basic benifits but only when your 30 hours plus,  no concern for staff safety and definitely not worth the pay with the customer assault.
