Between irritable and impatient older servers taking turns barking at you or taking ten-minute long smoke breaks every hour, while leaving you with all their tables asking where they went, or never cleaning their own tables and texting in the back, the workplace culture leaves something to be desired. If the dishwasher isn't in that night, you'll be expected to do time in the dish pit while still trying to keep up with your tables. The owners were nice enough, but everyone else made coming into work an anxiety-inducing experience, often because you're expected to do things nobody has shown you how to do. A couple of the servers are good team players, but others are just in it for themselves and will put in minimal effort. I also found it difficult to get enough hours, so I was heavily reliant on tips and, well, it's a truck station --fistfuls of quarters and nickels aren't an uncommon tip.
Starting out here had detrimental effects on my level of confidence in my abilities, because I got torn down a lot by the older servers with criticism that wasn't constructive, so just be careful if you're thinking of this as your first job.

Overly very simple once you learn all of the tasks along with how to use the cash registers. Great co-workers and management. This job does need responsibility, you will learn how to manage your time in order to get all of your tasks done. It also helped me learn how to talk to new people and make relationships with them, and also communicate with other customers who may be having a difficult time. With this comes good relationships that will really let you enjoy the job more, as well as make the shifts go along quicker.  

Management/Owner needs better communication skills and actually needs to listen to his employees when they tell hims something. Rather then pushing and then loosing his employees because of his attitude and disrespect. Hardest part of this job was doing everything by myself (cooking, cleaning, serving, cashier, food prep, receiving) all done on night shifts. IT SUCKED

it is a slow work with sometimes rude customers but some are very nice. ive learned to set feelings aside and do the best i can. The managers ignore me a lot which i do not appreciate and why i am looking for a new job, i need communication and when i ask something to be answered and when i am owed overtime, i want it.

I learn how to keep a good pace so that I could keep up with the making the orders and washing the dishes. My typical day at work consisted of coming into work and either washing dishes or cooking for 90% of the shift and then cleaning up a the end of the shift.

Too many shady dealings going on there most of what I did was clean the bathrooms and showers and floors the rest was conveience store/gas bar.  Would not recommend unless you really need the work. Owners have a secretive attitude and condescending way of dealing with people 

The work was fine, the atmosphere could swing from being ok, to being hard mentally. There was no incentive to work harder or do any better. Raises were few and far between. There was a lot of gossip and two faced people working there. Never any quality consistent supervision or support from "management".

Treat people poorly and never give raises. They're only in it for the money. Had. Multiple 100 percent mystery shops and was only paid out 50 dollars.  The 50 dollars was only made to be used at the restaurant. Don't work here if you want money.

a typical day at work consisted of standing for eight hours straight, while being yelled at consistently by angry and disrespectful truckers. management was okay but often seemed to avoid problems within the workplace and the coworkers social relationships.
