I believe that this is the most progressive organization that I have ever worked for, since coming from a corporate culture. I have truly realized the amazing family workplace culture that IHACSS exhibits. from day one, when I was brought on as a temporary HR generalist. I wanted to give my all to the organization that gives so much to their employees. 
This organization prides itself on its culture, innovative practices. value feedback from employees, and implement those feedbacks as well. 
Since joining the admin team, I look forward to the morning meetings as it provides key insights into the daily tasks of my peers and colleagues so i can keep note on what may land on my desk or me to share something that would be helpful to others. I believe that the direction the leadership team has taken IHACSS has been beneficial as we see the turnover rate of the organization reduced to less than half of the industry standard and the quality of staff being brought into the organization has increased as well. this is due to all the decisions that the leadership team has made for the growth of IHACSS and its clients. 
I feel highly recognized as they provide us with an amazing holiday events, and allow us to go home early on Fridays as an incentive... every week!!!
thank you IHACSS for the wonderful experience that you have provided me, over the last 6 months. this makes me want to give my 100% everyday and improve for the growth of myself and IHACSS. 

If you want a job where you just fill in your time, babysit adults, and do nothing to help them develop and grow, then IHAC is the place for you. If you want to help clients integrate into a community, become more independent, and have clients' needs be the first priority/the only priority – Don't work here. 

This company does not care about its clients, nor its employees. Staff mostly sit to watch clients, and clients are taken for coffee runs. That's it. When you have clients who want to go and work, you have to run through brick walls to make that happen. 

Facilities are not up to a safe standard for employees and clients. Houses are often unmodified and lack proper safe locks and solid doors. When facilities are damaged, only the bare minimum of repairs are made. 

If you are injured at work, on the job, prepare for an additional injury of the company backing the bus up over you. Injured staff are mistreated by this company. It does not help injured staff. In fact, if you are injured, the company will do everything it can to disavow you. 

And the company's benefits package is a joke. You pay a lot for a little. 

If you want to work somewhere just to work, with staff who don't care, and a company that doesn't care, then work at IHAC. If you want to work somewhere that you feel like you are making a difference in another person's life – work anywhere else.

It is the best place for one with love and passion for humanities and others.
Showing love to your fellow human being no matter what you get back.
  Having the basic life principle of passionate sowing, trust , empathy  and sharing others feelings even when they hurt you.( Matthew 5 :44) Loving your clients always even when they do otherwise. Very tough but this is what you MUST do if you indeed have passion for the social HealthCare work.

It is an organization that gives equal chance to "ALL" no matter your background as long as you are qualified for the job.

If you are ready to make a different in peoples lives; ready to show love to the unlovable , the depressed or the challenged? Ready to keep doing good to the vulnerable who may not reciprocate or pay back? If you have passion to change lives , build and bring many challenged and disturbed back to life..... then it is the right place for you!
-Work ethics , regular professional training and interactions that build your career and psyche are incorporated regularly.
Management  and  member supports when you are down will surely bring you back to life!

I absolutely without a doubt love this organization!  I feel welcomed and really enjoy supporting the different individuals. I am blown away with the amount of care, support and options that are given to the clients.  Every single person in the office is willing to help out and answer any of my questions.  They don't just sit behind a desk, they are actively involved with all aspects of support.  Its cool to see the CEO go into the lunch area and sit beside a client and have lunch with them. Taking time out of the day to engage, listen and most importantly respect the people in care.  I often see many upper management people getting involved with various organizational events both during business hours and after.  Its truly a one of a kind place!  The programming, support, and attention to detail is astonishing.  Some days are stressful, but I know I have support when I need it even if its in the middle of the night.  There are many training opportunities as well that they give you.  The pay is average, but I love helping others so thats all that matters.

Typical day would consist of preparing the client's meals' assisting them with outing's and appointments and administering medications. Can be very stressful or very relaxing work environment depending on your placement and your relationship with the client's. As some client's can be very easy going others can be very high risk and difficult to work with. Workplace culture is good, colleagues are usually very supportive and good team environment. The hardest part of the job is getting time off, the most enjoyable part of the job is doing things in the community with the client's such as going to the leisure centre or watching a movie, or catching a hockey game. Management will usually also will be extra nice to you around the holiday since if you work above and beyond your line of duty and give you additional time off or recognition.

IHAC has to be by far one of the most industry-leading support agencies around. I have never seen an organization be so invested in their clients as these guys do.  From the top all the way down to front line you can see that they care for people receiving services and about their culture.  The culture of people in care is very apparent and important. When you walk into any house or the main administration office,  Paintings, and art along with cultural food is always around. I enjoy working here, my values are very much the same as the company vision.  They go over and above for training for employees and always have extra if you want it!  They are a very large company, yet you don't feel like a number.  They recognize staff and clients as people.  The forward-thinking change that has happened over the past while, even with COVID is outstanding.  Way to go! 

I had a great interview, although it was via Team video call, it was done very professionally with 4 staff from admin. ( more staff than usual as it is normally only 2 )  I was very impressed that they gave me lots of information about the role, although it was a Newly set up role in the organization. It had a good ' feel'  about it as soon as I entered the building. Great Communication Set up as well. I have worked for many organizations of this type, and this is by far the Best one I have worked in so far. 

Various job requirements ,various departments of work. 
High stress job, little acknowledgment of work ethics here.
Learned a lot of personnel needs and areas of support of individuals in need.
Little room for advancement once in a supervisory position.
CSW's are great people to work with and grow with, training and supporting their needs to perform their duties.
Administration managers often over look the personal needs of workers, you are an employee and replaceable.
High turn over of staff.
Limited training once mandatory courses are taken.
Job requirements often over take your personal life, and this is expected of you.
Work load is extreme ,stressful, over worked, poor benefit package.
working with people with various disabilities, supporting their needs, encouraging their growth, and social life.

You’ll be pretty busy which is nice. But you are micromanaged by management. No trust. They definitely play favorites with both frontline and administrative staff.  Things you’re asked to do may not align with your ethics/morals. Admin attend a morning meeting every day which wastes time. Leadership constantly changes their mind/direction on things so you never know what to expect. It’s an extremely stressful environment. 

It did teach me everything I don’t want in an organization though. 

They have lunch brought in some times, they do some fun holiday activities in office. They’ll give you small gifts.  But it mostly just feels like it’s to distract from the negative things they do. 

The only perks are the hours and holiday closures. 

Don't bother. 

Unrealistic expectations for employees to do various driving on their own dime to the houses.  

No paid sick time.  Vacation is paid out  but rarely approved, especially in the summer.  It is expected you find someone to cover your shifts for vacation.

Erratic work hours.
Constant changing in management
Confusion and lack of direction from management to front line employees

There's some good honest people that work at ihac but I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to be employed here.  It is a dead end low paying job.

It's expected you cook and clean for clients.  Can't cook? You'll do it anyway plus scrub those residents toilets.

You'll get forced to stay for long shifts because people just don't show up.  The residences are NOT in edmonton.  They are in stony plain.  What a lie.
