Takes a couple of months to get the hang of the pace and what is expected. Physically very demanding possibly one of the most demanding old school delivery drivers positions out there. Asked to be thorough and accurate in deliveries however constantly asked for ETAs to different customers which causes one to stress out and rush in order to make the unrealistic scheduled drops. Sales reps and office usually not in the loop in terms of what the routes actually look like. Be able to improvise and troubleshoot on your own in able to figure out different drops that you may not have seen. Very unrealistic expectations and loads are huge when you're just starting off. However, the culture is pretty good. Genuinely like my supervisor and almost all of my coworkers and feel almost everyone cares and is trying to do their very best to make the job manageable and the company better. An honest and objective review of the company and position.

It's not a good work environment. The place has molded food everywhere and I don't see how it could be considered food safe. The pay is low and the incentivization program they employ punishes people for cleaning by averaging picking rates on an hourly basis regardless of the task being performed. Employees and management are constantly working well past 8 hours and into the night. Early mornings that begin well before 5 am and nights that go until 2 or 3am in the morning. There are many hazards and employees are encouraged to look the other way for obvious health and safety hazards.

The fact that you are told you will be independent and make the department yours but it’s that way at all

Toxic and dictating. You are micromanaged.

Stressful and the fact that I was a manager but we were short staffed and they refused to do anything about it.

Nothing there cheap, drivers loosing out on money and new manager sucks

Everything is stressful with this company. It's like high school all over again.

It sucks alot the new manager has ruined it for all

Dealing with closed mindset in Refrigerated environment

Poor management, HR practices and old working and no change management at all.

Hard physical work from day start to day end

I've worked in a lot of places. Islands West is the best, hands down.
My Supervisor is amazing. My Supervisors Supervisor is amazing. My co workers are amazing. The owner is amazing. The office personnel are amazing.....

The Islands West environment is all inclusive, accepting, inspirational, motivational.....incomparable.

Islands West is my home. It's where I am staying. I've spent a lifetime looking for this place.

The people you work with is the reason you end up staying. Management is there to listen to you if you have concerns or you wish to move up. Summer is the best time to work with plenty of overtime (if you wish) and opportunity to rack cash.

If you love going to work just to have the life sucked right out of you all while not making enough money... then this is the place for you. Management is awful. They value terrible employees and treat the good ones like absolute garbage! Especially if you're a woman. 

10 out of 10 would NOT recommend.

Great company that’s fun to work for and values their employees! Good work life balance and you’re rewarded for being a great employee! You get great discounts on produce and it feels like you are part of a family

This place is really awful, I wouldn't recommend anyone work there. Management is always in crisis mode making each day hectic and stressful. Trucks are in bad shape. Some drivers working 16+ hour days. Stay away.
