The government does not have checks and balance with non-profit organizations because of the illusion of helping people out. They do help and are afraid of the clients' comments. Public image is more important than the welfare of the staff. This organization has one of the lowest salaries compared to other non-profits. Business of helping people but own staff do not have job security. And the office politics is no joke. They get rid of you if you voice out your opinion or you are being honest. Staff is scared and afraid to voice out their opinions. Bullying is prevalent. Isn't it ironic a non-profit should have a kind and inclusive environment, it is quite the opposite. The high rating doesn't tell you the entire story of what happens day in and day out of working in this organization. It is a dog-eat-dog situation. Management is trying to get rid of diversity in higher positions. They have finally found a playground to hide their wrongdoings in the guise of non-profit. It is the biggest scam there is (in terms of funding) and Management can get away with it. 

* I never worked for ISSBC in money matters , was just happily volunteering and was a volunteer my self .
* I Learnt a lot of digital literacy like fake emails how the hackers hack . , fake online sites , fast typing application how to improve my typing skills , 
Time .
*Had to be on time , dont have the tendency to make a person wait for me , if i am volunteering or someone is volunteering me .
*friendly workplace environment .
*language , command of communicating with new comers .
*meeting new people was much enjoyable .

You work 7 hours a day for a total of 35 hours a week. It's a good place to start since pay is reasonable and it places you in an environment where you will grow along with other people of different backgrounds. I learned a lot on being organized and this work requires a lot of focus. Most of the work is carrying out clerical tasks. Training could be improved since you would have to figure out most of the responsibilities as you go along. But work environment is great, people here are very friendly and helpful.

Great work environment because of people who work there truly want to help clients. However, senior management is disorganized and not supportive of the staff. There is always funding cuts and changes a few times a year so it's very unstable. Also the pay is quite low. The bonus is a flex day.

As a volunteer, I enjoyed making friends with my community, especially with new-comers and/or immigrants. My team (managers, directors and other volunteers) were always very supportive making me want to do more. I was honoured to be part of the community. 
 I recommend it to everyone.

The managers are great in the Employment division. The  ISSofBC values and culture is very positive, you can show up how you are. Very flexible working hours and hybrid work arrangements. If you want to learn more about nonprofits, the experience is super valid. 

management is horrible, they dont listen to you about bullying and they basically dont take any actions towards the bully but they will fire you for versing your opinion

The environment is great, very friendly and extremely corroborative.

A typical day at work would be solving client's problems over the phone or  face to face.
Organize meeting rooms and giving clients the information they need.

Once you get in the organization, we t is very hard to get promoted, you will be in that same position for very long time, the rather to hire someone from outside, and there are always same languages required in the positions, 

The daily activities of this volunteer experience includes light physical labour, providing help for events, greeting guests and tutoring immigrants who are not proficient in english.
