Many opportunities for training and advancement are available if one is interested is actively following through with the initiative. Union environment which some new employees have to acclimatized themselves. Generous vacation however,  newer employees have to also realize this means they need to step up and take coverage for vacation time as well as this is a 24/7/365 plant. Opportunity to make $90,000 and more in your first year is not uncommon if one starts as a process operator. Those jobs would need to be vacant at time of hire.  However if one starts at a lower rated job, their seniority stands and they would then have priority over new hires as openings become available in areas around the facility.  As with most businesses that have been around a long time, ( in Ingredion Cardinal’s case, the plant has been in continuous operation at this location since 1858, yes 165 Years) there is always one’s retiring after 30-50 years at this site.

Probably the worst job I’ve ever had besides benefits and pay. If the lead hand likes you you’ll probably do alright but if they don’t like you they will give you the worst possible jobs and suck the life out of you until you either quit or lose all motivation. Lead hands regularly brag about getting people fired or making them quit. Management has no idea what’s going on inside the plant. All they see are numbers on a board and have zero regard to the guys actually doing the work. No wonder they have such a high turn around.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Closing/sale of a facility and loss of work family.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Supportive, encouraging, rewarding, challenging, safe.

Un organized, if you are smart and hard working they will take advantage of it without being apreaciated and compensated, You will get stock on where you are even how hard you work. No way to grow. Only Looking For Numbers and production but their eyes are close to see all hard working guys. They dont care about the preasure they give the employees even it already affecting their mental health as long as they will get the number they need. 

Only place in Canada that gives un ticketed and 3rd year apprentices who work straight days the same money as skilled tradespeople who work days, afternoons, nights and all weekend shifts also the shift people are expected to cover electrical, mechanical  and a bit of everything, the dayshift trades stick to their trade but get paid for the same skill blocks as the shift people who actually have to do these skills. 

Ingredion offers a fairly competitive environment to learn and grow continuously.
They are restructuring their IT landscape which is resulting in a huge learning experience. At times the project completion deadlines are tightly scheduled leaving very little room for work life balance.

there is a massive workload here and a very small team so time management is essential. However, when there is the rare lull, the team has a nice laugh together. The culture of the company is great fun

Management was extremely toxic and unsupportive. Working conditions are stressful, hot, and loud. There is no understanding from management that conditions are difficult. Minor mistakes are not tolerated from management and they will punish without warning. 

As a new employee with the Ingredion team I have felt very accepted and fulfilled. My colleagues are very knowledgeable and helpful. As well as management takes the time to listen and care. I am excited and looking forward to many good years here at Ingredion.
