Working here has been a genuinely positive experience. As an Administrative Assistant, I’ve felt consistently supported by my team and management. The workplace culture encourages collaboration, respect, and open communication, which makes even busy days feel manageable and rewarding.

As a heavy duty mechanic Jacobs Bros has been the best employer I've had the honors to work for. They have some of the nicest shop trucks on the lower main land to work out of. The shop is brand new. Well stocked parts and shop supplies. Great selection of well maintained shop tooling. Everything you need to make a proper successful repair. Very knowledgeable co workers. Everyone works hard and has fun doing so.  Jacob  bros has a vast variety of equipment. Because of that the job never gets repetitive  or stale. Most of the equipment is new and state of the art. Which is nice.  The shop foreman is a hard worker and expects the same from his crew. But if you work hard and show interest in your job you are rewarded equally. unfortunately  I I moved away from the city to the island. Wish I could have taken this job with me cause I would have been a life time member.

Its the best company you can work,Everyone here is so talented,nice,productive,helping,its more like you are working for your family they correct u,train you,respect your effords,help each other to get job done & even help outside work,the best thing is the owner’s of Jacob Bros. are personally plays a good role as a team,3 brothers stay conected with all employees,its a big company but still they know almost everyone in the field,if u belive you are passionate about constructions u r more than welcome to join JB family.if not, u can still join,but no-one like one guy doing nothing & all crew working hard,but honestly if u r good in what u do or a good lerner u don't have to ask about a raise,they give u raise & the respect u deserver, like i got in past 5 years.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They offer plenty of overtime, usually between 100-120 hours per pay period 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The  new generation of superintendents are known for their fake it to make it mentality, and once the s**t hits the fan they blame the crew.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company has lots of great knowledgeable workers who genuinely care about their work and coworkers. The  owners are compassionate and supportive of their employees 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A normal day is usually 10 -12 hours. The crews are always changing but the brotherhood stays strong . On average most days are both fun and productive.

Jacob Bros. was a tremendous learning and growing experience for me. I worked with a wide variety of personalities and can confidently say we all got along well. I was taught the ability to power through extremely long hours (One crazy day of a 23 hour shift) and that a team is only as good as its weakest link. I loved learning all the new machinery and equipment involved in civil construction and when I was placed with a good crew, things went by swimmingly. There was to "typical day" at this job. Last summer I worked an a overpass project for the port of metro vancouver. From grading for paving, laying asphalt, rebar framing, compaction, drainage/pipe laying it was an all over the place job but developed me into a very adaptable worker.

Started the toolbox at 6:50am instead of 7am without any added compensation.
10+ hour shifts with sometimes only a single 15 minute break.
Did the bare minimum to supply water for workers. Sometimes no water at all during the summer months.
Management is under qualified, disrespectful and unprofessional. 
Very buddy buddy culture. Super and foreman play favourites to their friends.
Good luck with getting time off. You’ll be viewed as a bad worker for taking a legitimate day away from the job. 
Guys would get laughed at for their safety concerns during toolbox. 
Don’t waste your time with this company. Better off applying for PCL, Kiewit, Pomerleau, Aecon, Tybo, Graham, etc. 


The owners are two brothers that care about each and every person that works for them. There is a lot of turnover with hourly guys as the market changes regularly but most of the people that stick around find its a great family to work in. Nice new trucks company events and caring staff. It is uncommon to see the brothers not working. I've personally had them still in there offices in coming to the on-site gym at night to work out and they are meeting with a staff member who needed some one on one with the boss. In a company this size that is rare.

The superintendents here are the most disrespectful people towards the staff and your value is worth nothing at this company.

No facilities provided to have your lunch even in minus temperatures.

No appreciation for working extremely long hours.

Not sure what the union does about this other than take your money.   They provide no job security or any help for humane sanitay and lunch conditions on the job.

I would not recommend 

Jacob Bros feels like family.  As a new employee working on a large project site in Vancouver over the past few years, I felt like part of the team starting on day 1.  Lots of people willing listen, help and share their experience to support me succeed. True teamwork culture. Pay and benefits are good.  I'm now at the Head Office and people here are great too! 

During my 4 years at Jacob Bros. I watched the company grow and I was able to advance with them. It was a fun energetic work environment with support from supervisors whenever there were questions or problems. We always worked lots of hours and were well compensated for it. I recommend them to anyone I know looking for work in the lower mainland.
