Jollibee

Working at Jollibee was genuinely one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had, and something I wouldn't wish on even my worst enemy. The lack of care for their employees, combined with an increasingly intolorable work environment, wound up making things very grim.

Their scheduling was awful-delivered on an inconsistent basis, usually only a week in advance. Training was all well and good, but things went downhill once I had finished it.

I was never totally alone during my shifts, but the amount of staff on-hand often did not feel enough compared to the amount of work coming our way. As such, I often felt like I was being run ragged, and that I juggled too much at once whilst multi-tasking from station to station. This made it easy for slip-ups to occur more often than I believe they should have.

My supervisors and managers ranged in quality, but most of them were not great. There was a certain tenseness I felt whenever some of them were present, because they would be ridiculously critical of mistakes-even small ones, like being a few seconds late to deliver food. Avoiding mistakes increasingly became a way for me to tip-toe around my higher-ups, in the hopes that they wouldn't get upset with me.

After some time employed here, I felt dispirited on the days I was scheduled to clock in. My self-confidence in doing job tasks plumetted (to say nothing of my mental health, which went into some really dark places). Quitting my job was the best course of action I took, for my own sake.

Jollibee is not a company that values the wellbeing of its employees. Stay away from this company as much as you can.

A typical day at work -- Crew members/ regular co-workers are okay to work with, though most won't hesitate to throw you under the bus to save their own skin.

Supervisors have strict policies to adhere to, and some are more laid back than others about following the rules. Don't let that trip you though; the best way to stay safe from garnering unwanted attention is to adhere exactly to the procedures according to manuals, verbal instructions, etc. 

What I believe I learned -- The demanding days would push you to your limits, though all the suits seem to care about is public decorum and end of day sale numbers. So you better act right, even if you get yelled at by customers. 

Management -- can be patronizing, some have control freak issues, others are laid back and chill, you really get a fun mix of all types. Most of them are great at instructing procedures and delegating responsibility, some of them allow their personal opinions of crew members to interfere with their work though. (i.e if they don't like you, they'll low-key threaten you/ treat you dismissively over the littlest things) Watch out for those snakes, they never change & other supervisors take their side.

Toxic work culture where favouritism and harassment is rampant. They take advantage of the fact that the employees like the "culture" a lot because a lot of them are friends, and many of them do not resign just because of the friends they made. They view the students as "statistics" who would "eventually go anyway" so "there's no need to take care of them."

Supervisors and restaurant managers need a seminar on people management, i.e., caring more about people and not profit. They care most about what top management has to say but definitely not what their crew members voice out. And mind you, a lot of these supervisors would commit unfair labour practices in a heartbeat just to appease the top management. They cut costs heavily on manpower and materials, and just try to divert the attention by buying pizza from Domino's on store funds.

Human resource management is a joke, they cut work hours and they would give you a writeup for just about anything. If you get on their good side, however, that's equivalent to diplomatic immunity.

Only good thing? You get to see all this drama unfold before your very eyes instead of just seeing it on TFC or Facebook.

Jollibee is a very fast-paced environment. For the most part, co-workers are very nice and understanding. I had no problem getting along with most people there. Although, the filipino culture was suffocating. This goes with being unprofessional from employees and the management side. The management/company itself holds its ground on being "filipino." They have very high standards for everything and will be angry if sales are not met. They do not treat their employees right because the focus is always on the customer and their sales. This reflects on the high employee turnover rate, employees being absent, and employees being pressured to work long hours. They would cut or add hours at their will without professionally informing others. As a result, employees are overworked without being compensated for their efforts. The branch I work at has NO benefits, NO raises (everyone is paid $14/hour), and NO paid time offs.

Working at Jollibee as a store crew member has its ups and downs. On the positive side, the job provides valuable experience in customer service and teamwork. The staff is generally friendly, and there's a sense of camaraderie among coworkers.

However, there are notable drawbacks. The workload can be overwhelming during peak hours, leading to stress and fatigue. Management could improve communication and organization to alleviate some of these issues. Additionally, the pay is average at best, considering the demanding nature of the job.

Overall, my experience at Jollibee has been mixed. While I've gained valuable skills and made some great friends, there are areas where improvement is needed to enhance the employee experience. With some adjustments in management practices and compensation, this could be a more rewarding place to work.

Very busy on weekends, not so busy on weekdays. Weekend customers can get to your nerve at times. I learned how to increase my patience even more, and be more attentive. The management needs to improve. They need to adapt to the Canadian standard of employment and not the Philippines standard of employment. The workplace culture is quite toxic as there is always gossip going around, the supervisors not maintaining their professionalism. Some supervisors do care for your wellbeing, but most don't. It is a very busy and fast paced environment that can tire anyone out. Very stressful to work under the high demand of Filipino supervisors. Always putting work and the sales before anything else. The employees are only human as well. The only enjoyable part are the friends you make there.

I applied as a part time worker but I have been given full time hours and overtime. I was still trying to balance school with a job and the hours they gave me would mess with my study and sleep schedules since it was the closing shift, when I requested time off they would only give me a hour off or move me to morning shift. It was unfortunate because I really like the people I worked with. Majority of the management was nice but they were really bad at giving consistent schedules they would come out in forms of 3 and we would only know a day before hand. If I didn't have a social life and school life I probably would have stayed.

Typical day at my work is woke at the morning at 6:00 Am because is time breakfast, before going to my work and i learned for this job you need patiente,time management,focus, because if you don't  patience you're down then for my co-worker it's ok all of all my team member of team jollibee member are so very hyper,laughtrip etc.

is the hardest part of the job are when the costumer a gradually so easly but when way the months of ber months madami talaga nakapila for me im a backup crew it's so very hard because when finish your cooking a few cook again ,,,,,again and again every minutes no time out then the most unforgetable or enjoyable of the job......is christmas party,...

I only worked there for a month because of the lack of consideration for my availability. I'm a student and gave them my availability. They told me it was alright and gave me a schedule. However, after a week or so I started getting shifts on days I was not available! I told them I couldn't make shifts because of classes but that didn't matter and still told me to come into work. 
Also, the upcoming schedule is updated on different days of the week so you have to hope you don't get shifted within a few hours from the schedule posting. It's hard to plan anything outside of work because you might end up getting a shift. 

Could’ve been a fun place to work at if it weren’t for the toxic management in the place. Manager is very strict and controlling with everything employees do/say/wear even when not on the clock. Management also disregards employees feelings and expects everyone to throw problems out the window to fit their wants and needs as if it was that easy. They expect you to put this job first and if you don’t, then no hours for you. Schedules are put out very late sometimes even the day before and is not as accessible to the staff. 
Typically employees complain about customers the most, but in this place, interacting with customers is so much better than the management.
