I would highly advise anyone considering a role at Kaizen Auto to ask themselves one question, do you value yourself? Simply because this organization DOES NOT. A toxic work environment is often regarded where an employee is exposed to scrutiny, micromanagement, bullying, and lack of recognition for one's talents. Although this management will ensure that you are trained and prepared to take on the job, they will be relentless in tasking you with many different projects all at once. To describe this position as overloading is an understatement. Hard work will go unrecognized, as you'll be among longer-term elite employees that have earned their stripes. These long term employees do not mind the abuse, and will tolerate their slavery. One's talents will be utilized, but only to ensure a strict quota of completed daily tasks. This is not how any help desk should ever be run. Problem solving skills are often negated in lieu of speed. Incomplete tasks pile up, simply because the management haven't put any thought into programming, at all. You're on call all day, will have to miss lunches, just to meet a quota. You WILL BE forced to be a jack of all trades, suffering from ADD as your head is bounced between unrelated tasks. This could all be easily avoided if this department had an actual structure to divide the workload properly. On top of this, there is plenty of cheating and backstabbing that occurs on a daily basis. Mutual respect for ingenuity is minimal, and you are a commodity for maximum workload.

To begin I just want to quickly exclude the Service Department from my feedback. Everyone in the service department was an absolute pleasure to work alongside. S+ Tier attitude, cleanliness, respect, and work ethic.

The Parts Department, absolutely embarrassing. I'd say there's no words, but I have got a few:

Inventory Management was non-existent. The infamous saying that went around was "The computer says we should have it." We did inventory once in the few years that I had worked there. The quantity on hand was infamous for being off, whether that was due to several different types of clerical errors, whether that was a failure to receive the part into inventory, a failure to physically put that part into inventory, or a failure to actually invoice the part and it was given to a customer for free. You had to be a private investigator to pick parts there, and you had to train yourself to do it. 

It is an extremely busy department, and it is challenging to throw everyone under the bus - that can't be done. There were individuals who tried to make a difference, but there were individuals who couldn't have a care in the world. Not a care in the world. If you pride yourself in customer service you will find out not only you do not belong there, but the opportunity to have integrity in what you do, gets you nowhere. 

The safety hazards of the facility. The absolute disrespect between fellow staff. The negative feedback from vendors and customers. Absolutely embarrassing. 

A horrible place to be. very toxic. the manager is selfish and only cares about herself. makes it miserable for all staff. techs, advisors ect. Sets you up for failure and humiliation with customers. doesn’t care at all about the customer and is only about the numbers. it’s understandable to want good numbers but your customers pay you rent.. better start caring about them. pay sucks. they force you to make calls to the customer asking that they give you only a 10 on a survey and nothing less. felt like i was bothering them and begging for something that is suppose to be for them. okotoks gm isn’t that busy and it’s due to how much they screw the customers. parts department gouges them and it’s a accelerated hourly rate on top of it. Rips people off bad enough a person paid money to put a decal on there vehicle that states “just another guy screwed over by okotoks gmc” this place has a complete potential to be a great place to not only work but to thrive financially but there to greedy and the management is terrible. until those are fixed i would avoid this place like the plague.

Ample opportunity to grow & learn if you are open to it, always a new challenge to tackle, makes sure the days are anything but boring. 

There are many great people here, I have made many lasting connections and meaningful friendships.  Especially in the last few years, they have made great strides to support and encourage a company culture that goes beyond the individual dealership worlds.  Staff functions occur several times a year, in various formats, that allow you to connect with fellow employees from all over the group.

I have been given several opportunities to advance within Kaizen during my time here and been presented with several different training opportunities.  

Senior Management is invested in the staff and seem to be open to feedback and staff ideas - employee engagement surveys are sent out annually and I have seen changes come about because of staff feedback.  

Overall, I have really enjoyed my time here at Kaizen and look forward to further advancing my career with them.

My experience at Summit was extremely disappointing. The Kaizen Group controls virtually every aspect of the business, leaving little autonomy at the ground level. Every year, the pay plan is adjusted in ways that reduced earning potential, while management and executives continued to benefit. It felt like the harder you worked, the more the goalposts moved. They don’t pay you on bonuses that are clearly defined in your pay plan. 

Despite earning top sales performer recognition and consistently delivering results, I was still told I had to “prove myself” when asking about compensation increases or growth opportunities. Advancement is restricted, and requests for more responsibility or fair pay were routinely shrugged off.

There were constant promises about improvements and support, but the same conversations happened repeatedly with little real change. Roadblocks made it difficult to succeed, and leadership often lacked the experience needed to properly support the team.
 
I joined believing Summit was different. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience

The place is more of a mental mindgame and by far the most toxic culture and environment I have ever worked in before. They do not care about employees or customers, only care about themselves. Every day you fight for jobs with other slimy coworkers. Management/paint foreman in the paint department talks down on his team back while threatening your job security everyday. The senior painters manipulate the inexperienced management by blaming all mistakes that they make on other employees so that their ego is not hurt. Management puts off the impression that they are willing to help employees succeed, but when you ask for advice or help they just tell you it’s you it’s your problem. Everyone just talks absolutely negative things behind everyone’s shoulders. It’s every man for himself in this particular body shop. They make it seem like it’s the best place to work but stay away from this place.

Working at Kaizen has been an outstanding experience. The company truly lives up to its name by focusing on continuous improvement in every aspect of the business. Leadership is supportive, approachable, and genuinely invested in employee growth and success. The work environment encourages collaboration, innovation, and open communication, which makes every day both challenging and rewarding. Kaizen values its people — recognizing effort, celebrating achievements, and providing opportunities for advancement. The team culture is positive, respectful, and built around mutual trust and accountability. What stands out most is the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, which motivates everyone to perform at their best. It’s refreshing to be part of an organization that not only talks about excellence but practices it consistently. Overall, Kaizen is a fantastic place to build a career and be part of a team that’s truly driven to make a difference.

I worked here for almost 2 months and that was enough for me to give my notice. 
I gave my notice and tried to go about it the right way but the next day I was met with a less friendly version of my manager who told me are just going to cut ties early. I was told I was bringing morale down and causing issues which I find laughable as even tho I gave my notice i was trying to help as much as possible as they are down people. This place is overall a toxic workplace from lack of training, managers that do not know how to manage people and effectively improve training and morale. I was stressed everyday and pushed through without a proper understanding of the basics cause we just get work shoveled at us. I tried to stay positive but the place is lacking in areas where they can easily improve. The turnover rate is high and I can see why. These places will never change only offer false promises. The way they handled everything was poor from start to finish. 

Working here gave me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. A typical day involved a variety of tasks that kept things dynamic—from managing responsibilities independently to collaborating with a supportive team. I learned how to prioritize under pressure, communicate effectively, and stay solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.

Management was approachable and open to feedback, which made it easier to navigate challenges and seek support when needed. The workplace culture emphasized teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The hardest part of the job was balancing multiple priorities on tight deadlines, but it helped me develop stronger time management and problem-solving skills. The most enjoyable part was seeing the direct impact of my work and being part of a team that genuinely cared about doing great work.

Worked for these guys for around 3 years before deciding to leave. This company hardly pays you a cent and expects the moon. I have seen high turnover since beginning my journey to be a certified tech. They have the old burn them out and get a new employee attitude. We work hard, and are hardly compensated via benefits, wages, or even the working environment. Covid was a joke at my workplace and they actually cut peoples wages. The shop is falling apart and quality of work is not what I hoped for. Customers are generally upset when they leave here. Hard work gets you exploited and struggling to get by.  I can hardly afford to buy the tools I need and still get to work despite being a model employee. I'd work anywhere else and I am now.
