TL;DR
Fast paced, team environment that focuses on quality and production numbers. 
Union job with benefits and retirement plan. 
Shift work with shift premiums and about 6 levels of pay. 
Getting your raise depends on your position and how long you've been there. 
Great people to work with and occasional company events. 



It's a fast paced environment where quality is the most important aspect.

Which is funny to think about. 

Is it a hard job? It'll feel like it if it's your first job or never worked in a fast paced environment before. 

You might feel discouraged when you feel like you're the slowest worker. Don't be, it takes time and effort to improve your speed without losing quality. 

You'll eventually be taught more then one way to do things. It's up to you to incorporate them into how you do the job. If you take the time to obersve how you perform the work at hand. You can find ways to improve and make it easier on you. 

It's a team based environment, so helping out others when you can is to be expected. 

It's a union job with benefits, where seniority gets higher priority on training or job postings. There's about six different levels of pay and maybe limited vacancy in those levels. 

If you manage to obtain a job posting that's not entry level. You'll receive the next level pay when they decide that you're ready for it. Which can depend on the position and can be up to a year before you do receive it. 

Of course it'll also feel unfair when a new employee is posted into the same position that you just applied for. They might just have prior experience with a different company. So, don't fret unless it's a new hire who is being trained in a shorter time frame to know as much as you. Then it's just a race to see who gets that level of pay faster!

Ha! That or they forgot about you and assumed you're already making that level of pay. So, don't forget to bring it up!

Most of the people here are great to work with. 
The pay could be higher though. Some positions just don't get paid enough.

It's also shift work on a three week rotation with shift premiums. Depending on the demand and if they have enough people. There will be three shifts, otherwise just the two, or one if you're on the slower side of the plant.

PROS:
Coworkers are friendly and fun. They really help with what they can. Either in work or if you need to vent while frustrated.

Pay and benefits are alright, but as everything goes up it's still not enough.

They have a free shuttle to work if you live in Vernon though, which helps with gas costs.

CONS:
Management like to say they will/are willing to listen but I would rather talk to a brick wall then them because all they can do is parrot SOP at you even if that answer doesn't make sense. At least that way I'd be less frustrated. THEN they have the GULL to spout how communication is key. I have personally witnessed someone trying to explain how/why something wasn't working, everything they have tried to do to fix things, and management talked over them/refused to hear anything they had to say. Spouted the same tired line over and over until the worker just through up their metaphorical hands and gave up. 

If people are crying in frustration/anger/irritation in the locker room/bathroom/outside something's wrong. Some of the management/senior team have been there to long and it shows.

They think their floor experience 10+ years ago somehow still works today when they keep changing things. 

And they are so desperate to act like they do something that they make things harder for little to no purpose for the floor workers and then get mad when the workers trip over management's bloated egos. 

Kohler was by far the most horrific terrible place I've ever worked i feel I have post traumatic stress disorder from working there and should seek medical help with it altogether employees all help you carry the weight the managers push you to your physical and mental limits and treat u poorly with no respect and punish you like a red headed step child but I made life long friends there and miss them all and feel sorry for all of them still there today check their employee turn over out of 25 hired 24.5 aren't there 6 month s later worst place I've ever worked best people I've ever met and made friends with.kohler is all about the numbers and not the quality they are a modern oshawits

In all honesty, it isn't for everyone, it's fairly physical, it gets pretty hot, and it can be stressful keeping up with production.
BUT, there are a lot of upsides too, and for the right people it can be a good longterm fit, or a decent stepping stone if you need something reliable short term.
Many of us enjoy the medical benefits, RRSPs, weekends and stats off, as well as sick days and vacation pay, but ask anyone there and they will usually tell you it's the people that make it.
Overall I would recommend the job,and advise you give it a fair trial before writing it off, I am glad that I did.

The interview was super easy.  Mostly a walk thru of the plant to show you the process and all the jobs you could be doing at some point.

It's a rotating shift here,  so every 3 weeks you'll be moving onto the next shift.  Makes having a social life challenging, especially the evening shift being 10 hours long. 

The company does pay favorites and will cover for them even if they royally screw up.

People are not held accountable for AWOLs and missing too much time.  So,  if you want to show up for 3 days a week tops, then this might be the place for you actually.  

Those that do come to work every day end up picking up the slack. 



Staff are never replaced when they quit, the others are just expected to step up and take care of it. If staff prove that they can destroy their mental and physical health to cover two people's jobs, the company decides that the position only requires one staff.

Management says they care, until you need something fixed, then it's up to you to find a solution/ work around. The supervisors are the worst. They don't even pretend they give a hoot and will lie to your face.

Friendly very competitive and some people are very helpful

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Getting up at 4:30 to be out the door at 5:10 to catch the bus at 5:25 to be at work for 6am

Very physical labour. You are pushed beyond physical capabilities most times. Atmosphere is extremely hot continuously,you are very uncomfortable all shift !!  Fibreglass everywhere , in your hair ,clothes, sweaty all shift.
Avoid working here if you can  !! If not you will find out the hard way

The job itself is hot and physical but if your ok with that than the work would be good, exept the management team expects you to do the job of multiple people. they purposely keep areas understaffed and call it efficiency while all the rest of us have to pick up the slack

Fantastic group of employees, and leadership is putting in a lot of effort to make it a better work environment. It's not perfect, but teamwork is strong and people (including management) really seem to care about each other.
