This is a great company to work for your not going to get a better wage pension or shift anywhere. They need to work on the consistency of pay. As they get contracts they often will remove perks like paid travel time to and from site, perdiem rate changes in fort Mac they put you in condos that have no ac and won’t even provide the main necessities. They supply tooling wich is a huge bonus yet one region is super organized while another is the entire opposite. Out of town work is common if the job takes longer then 12 be prepared to take 2 days off wherever your at without pay they have a 12/2 policy. All in all it’s a great company if you can handle the inconsistencies between regions. 

Management expects staff to work miracles, and when the inevitable failures happen due to poor planning and project execution, take it out on all the wrong people.  The people / teams that are the root of the problems are never held accountable.
They prefer phoney, butt-kissing sycophants over those who keep their head down and just do their job with loyalty and integrity.  You will receive zero respect or appreciation for your contribution unless you've managed to ingratiate yourself with management.  Advancement is nearly impossible once you've been there for more than a few years and are no longer a new and shiny toy that's willing to debase yourself.

The top level management is the biggest problem with this branch.  Does not trust anyone to do their job and is always interfering.  There is absolutely no team effort, each department fighting with others, each crew slamming and discrediting the other, and to call the people in charge performance leaders would be a gross misuse of the word. The stress levels that are put on good people eventually cause them to leave.  From my experience it's an me, me, me attitude in this branch from the top down. The biggest benefit to this place is good pension and benefits that are offered. Take what knowledge you can get and move on if you choose to apply.

I was very excited to work at Komatsu. It was a clean organized warehouse. The supervisor of the warehouse had his favourite who would smoke with him. Lots of private conversations behind your back in the smoke pit. I worked with a very dominant individual who was not welcoming to adding new members to the team. Was very degrading in their approach to training. I ended up getting let go in my probation period for a “ business decision” It was very confusing since I didn’t get a clear answer. If your going to work for this company the best thing to do is not get your hopes up and watch your back with supervision and certain workers. 

Coworkers will throw u under bus, mess with your lunch or steal from anything left unlocked, moody workers everywhere, poor workmanship at most levels. All engineering and office staff condescending to floor staff. If you come in at the top of the food chain your fine. Good hours pay is acceptable. Expect to be disrepected regularly. HR protect the company not the employee they are not your friend or helper. There your executioner. Mind your business and talk to noone and youll do fine. Stay silent and dont comment and you will do fine. Noone is your friend everyone will burn you before taking responsibility.. Terrible community.

This place is really one big cluster F, 
The money is great, but the communication between the Forman and Field service guys are unbelievably terrible, the service guys will tell you that they’re only working with Komatsu for the money. 
They send you on a job somewhere by verbal communication usually, and you have to figure it out from there 
The sign you up for a 7/7 shift but in the end they want you doing a 14/7 or 21/7 shift and 14 to 15 total hour days
If you like being away from your family most of the time, then this is the place for you

Good work atmosphere  but low quality of management , tooling and direction. Work schedule was hard on body due to shift work being a 2 day then 24hr switch over to do 3 nights  .I had a good learning experience on operating boring mill and what needed to be machined on a fully assembled frame. Also had a learning curve on how to flip underground machine frames. Some things that were ill managed was mainly production and what was to be done for the next operation for assembly. All in all I had a good experience learning but did not like the way they managed.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The location is in town.  The wages were same as if I had a job on-site

The lack of employees to complete tasks 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very segregated and expectant.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Punch in.  Try and get everything done in 8 hours while my co workers all worked 12 hour shifts.  Very time deprived all the time

a typical day of work consist of providing assembly floor with the parts to build mining equipment ...dealing with purchasing to ensure parts will meet with production date and deliveries 

Being the expeditor with Joy Global you basically deal with everyone in the building 

Hardest part of the job is having too much to do for one person 

Most enjoyable part of the job is seeing these machines/equipment being assembled and delivered on time

Good people on the floor keeping the company going but office staff or management not very good at getting back to you with answers to your questions and discriminating against floor employees for petty things . Always worried if you have a job especially if you live in Fort mac where everything is expensive. Keep to yourself don't voice your opinion cause you might not be working for long . Good starting point but it doesn't last
