LUMBER YARD

the manager is not involved with the employees. I like lots of tasks to preform throughout the day to speed up the work day but here there isn't enough to do for everyone to work evenly. Half of the staff is walking around aimlessly with no objective other then to kill time, after being around that sort of attitude and environment constantly it wares on you.
its a family owned buisness with 3 of the owners sons working there, there isnt much room to move up assuming the higher positions will be passed through the family. people have been there for literally over 30 years and still dont make over 20$ a hour which is not a overly comfortable living as it is, considering the cost of living in this city.

have a great relationsip with my co-workers and management as well, enjoy customer relations and assist various other staff with some of their duties.

Typical day at work is to make sure area is clean and neat in appearance for customres, do tasks that managementasks as well as doing what I know what is to be done without being told.

I was employed to work in the lumber yard and help out with heavy lifts in the store floors.  Using the forklift to offload materials from the shipment trucks.  Aiding customers to load there vehicles with the proper building materials outlined in the work orders.

Caring and understanding family owned buisness. Equal opportunity for everyone labouring. Great communication,explanation. Safety was always first. Help was provided in situations, monitored by camera to avoid these situations

What is the best part of working at the company?
Loading/Unloading crates of Lumber, Strapping,stamping and covering with tarps.

 Did not experienced all was well

I worked there for 4 months during the summer and it opened up so many doors for me and my future. The staff and clients are amazing and make the days go by quickly. I enjoyed working there and learning the things that I was taught when i worked there.

Mostly ever shift we were cleaning the yard, making sure the lumber was faced up in order to preserve it. I learned how to manage people, as well as interacting with customers efficiently.

I fast pace environment with something always to do. Management was always there to help and support any needs you had. Scheduling was flexible to your needs. Always had something to do within my work hours. They made it fun and willing to work there

A 9 hour day consisted of helping customers locate their purchases and load them into their vehicles. Sorting and re stocking lumber.
Gained valuable experience that will help me in my future endeavours.

Worst management, redicoulous low wage, old equipment that made working in extreme weather conditions hard. Turn over for employees was very high. Wouldn't recommend.
