I have nothing bad to say about this workplace. They have provided me with an excellent opportunity to grow as an individual and gain some much needed self-confidence. They don’t dwell on the minor mistakes I make and instead focus on providing me the direction needed to make better decisions in the future. Tensions do sometimes rise amongst the staff as we are currently short staffed in many departments but we all pull together and get the work done in the end. It’s a job you can feel proud of in a very important sector. Management are always there to help you out and never make you feel belittled or looked down on. They treat everyone as fairly as possible while doing their best to provide the residents and staff with the love and care they require. Lanark Lifestyles has truly become a part of my family.

They gave me time off when I needed it the most and even protected me from a chance of getting even sicker!

Sadly, it was a little further away than I anticipated when I applied and thus the 2 extra hours made it an extra long day for me.  

Loved the staff and management and miss them dearly.  I specifically appreciated the Owner's and Managers need to make the client's first in every aspect.  If it wasn't an hour away in the middle of winter, I may have remained.

They are a new business with lovely surroundings, so I suspect that wages will be capped while they fill up the rooms.

Everyone there understood and placed a focus on the resident's wellbeing both physically and emotionally.

I only stayed about 3 months, but it was a wonderful experience for this seasoned PSW.  I miss both the resident's and management team, I always look forward to seeing them...a refreshing change considering the challenges in care these days.

Were extremely eager to hire me, even though I said I had less than a year of serving experience and it was 2 years ago. I found out my first shift they were extremely understaffed. I had poor on-the-job training and they brought me on before I had even finished my online training. their job posting stated 15-20 hours a week, as it was part-time, but I was immediately booked in for 30 hours. unfriendly and snarky management. also I believe they should pay their servers more as they place a significant amount of stress on them and making them work like dogs. lastly, they expect perfection within 3 shifts (even though their training isn't good). overall it's not a fun place to be.

Clicky, not fun of your the new person staff watch you do all the calls and work. Extreme lifting, not enough staff to assist with bathing or lifts. Concerns get raised, no follow through on addressing the issues or concerns. If you don’t drink with head staff after work your the outsider. Was told it would be a fun place to work despite the requested dollar amount at hire and that would make up for pay cut, unfortunately not ran well. Don’t pay enough to want to stay!!!! Long days and nights with no scheduled break time, taking it off pay but not getting those breaks entitled to. 

The residents where the sweetest people once you got to know them. It took a little bit of them warming up to me, but once they did they treated me like I was one of their grandchildren. My coworkers always treated me kindly  every shift, and whilst we where working we would chat to see how the other was doing and how their day was. The only reason I left was because I didn’t get along with a few of the people in the managerial roles. Otherwise, I would have still been their to this day. I do truly miss the residents. 

Lanark Lifestyles is the worst place to work underpaid and management is horrible , the new DOC has no idea how to treat her staff, you need to watch your back , lied to and totally not worth the pay. this a 100% LTC facility with heavy daily lifting. Your not appreciated there and huge favouritism and very clicky watch your back if you stand up for yourself you them become a target.
scheduling a a totally mess and don't expect this company to have your back , everyone for themselves. 
Lack of Nursing care 

There is a small core of staff who do well, then there is the rest.
During the first covid outbeak all the management were vacinated before any staff or residents, for example. but the employees are good to work with in general, as all workplaces.
I guess to summarize I would say they tend to worry more bout the residents,(which is a good thing) and making appearances, then they do about the rest of the staff, psw, cleaners, maintenance workers etc.

I have worked at other retirement residences and this is by far the best. Owners are hands on, not like the big corporate giants. Owners will just randomly get us pizza or give us gift cards just to say thanks. Honestly the poor reviews on here are likely just from people that didn't fit in or who were afraid of some hard, but rewarding, work. Complaints about lack of staff are obviously from people that haven't worked for the chain retirement residences. There are more staff working per shift then any other home I've worked at.

I have found that being part of the staff at Lanark Lifestyles is like being part of a family. One that is growing quickly. 

The Pandemic has made it challenging to fill some positions but everyone pulls together to make it through. The managers care about their teams and the owners work hard to make it very competitive with the big companies even though it's a smaller operation than many other retirement homes.

It is clear that their residents are their number one priority.  



The workplace culture was very toxic. Employees are overworked and are working more hours than what is stated in their contract. Management does not listen to their employees and do not have care about their employees well-being.
