Langley Liquor Warehouse

There is absolutely no advancement available. It is very rare and they only select very certain people to promote. I never got a raise after working there for well over a year, which I find ridiculous. We don't expect a dollar raise; even 0.25 cents would suffice because it shows we are appreciated.  I worked so hard and did everything I could for that entire year and was not appreciated once. Also no benefits were offered at the time of my employment.

I didn't learn much except how to make beer displays, which is very easy. The nights are extremely slow and they should definitely not be open as late as they are. That was the only up side to the job as well, because there is a lot of down time. Unfortunately, it does get quite boring.

The two stores managers are great, especially the GM (who is wonderful and does her job amazingly), but upper management does not care an inch about their Langley store, only their other 3 stores. Upper management is mostly at those other stores and rarely spend a day there every month, which I think is very doable in this particular environment; they only have four stores and mostly spend time at one particular store.

I did not feel like I was respected when upper management came in as well. I was over-looked quite a bit, even though I did my job to its fullest extent, and then some, and they didn't think I could answer the simplest of questions about their store. 

The hours are very poor and the pay is poor. If you think you'll make bank on tips, you will not. There is also times where there is so much to do and put out and put away, everyone gets stressed out and overwhelmed. They also never did an employee review, even though that is pretty standard in most jobs.

Overall, it is not the best place to work. But, the job is pretty easy, except large order days, and if you're willing to put up with boring nights and poor pay, this is the job for you!

Management is very weak. When employees come to them with an issue, complaint or concern, they will likely agree with what you're saying, complain alongside you, then do NOTHING about it. That is literally their job as management to deal with their employees' concerns. You are forced to come into work when you are sick or injured, a sick day does not exist. You do not get a break. You work 7.5 hrs but get paid for 8 so in their minds, they are paying us for a 30mins extra... so we don't need a break! There are no benefits, no discounts, no raises and barely any room for growth. Employees are not appreciated, not even the shift supervisors who do the bulk of the work during a shift. There is no security at night and if there happens to be a theft you are scolded and deemed a failure for "allowing" it to happen no matter the circumstances in which it occurred. The job itself is pretty straightforward, but management and the company as a whole is awful, find a different liquor store to work at.

Mornings and Nights are extremely slow.  Afternoons on Fridays are a bit busy.  Management didn't feel like management, just another co-worker.  Two people from upper management were okay but the rest do not know how to properly run a business it seems, making terrible decisions.  The people working there are either crazy, pathological liars or amazing people you will be good friends with and not really much in between.  You get no holidays off, you do not bank vacation pay either so if you take time off you are not getting any money.  The hardest part of the job is trying to keep everything organized because the stock room and cooler are always a mess.  The job itself wasn't very enjoyable in the end, you get paid minimum wage but expect to go above and beyond every day.  Do not take the job seriously and look for other work as soon as you can.  

I worked there for 4-5 months, terribly high turnover rate. Main manager was awesome but as for the higher management, completely cowardly and will let you go randomly without explanation. I wasnt the golden child at this workplace but I had never no showed a shift or barley called in and they fired me with no explanation besides “you aren’t the right fit.” This has happened surprisingly a few times to a group of great people who deserved better. Dont expect hospitality or great communication at this establishment. No warnings and no communication prior to me being dismissed. would also not provide feedback despite being polite and professional. Would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to work longer than 5 months. 

The job itself is super easy and if you put in the effort you can move up in the company really quickly. However its super repetitive work all the time and they offer no benefits and the pay is just minimal. Its a good first job but other than that, its not ideal if you want to lead an independent lifestyle. If you wanna work at a liquor store id suggest government ones, they pay better. It says additional pay is tips but the most youll get is probably like $3 in a day depending on how many hours you work. You have to cover for a lot of the understaffing as well. 

Working at this store was a great experience for me. The team they have on are wonderful and very supportive. I had leave for personal reasons but it was a fun place for me to work and the support I had from management and staff was next level. They want to see everyone succeed and the growth you make to advance higher in the company is refreshing. You are rewarded for your hard work. I would highly recommend working here

Higher Management sucks, they don't have a life and expect other to do the same. They fire their best employees over something trivial and pathetic. No appreciation or regards for our safety. Don't give a hoot when some of their employees are misbehaving (e.g. bullying in the workplace/refusing to do work) they don't pay you enough to put up with the bullshavic that goes on there. great if you're a stone cold b* who likes drama.

I wasn’t able to work here for more than 1 shift due to location and distance from where I live but I did really enjoy the staff & management was very nice and understanding. 

If you are cool with a slower paced location and live in Langley, I highly recommend as well as they do offer transfers if you need a busier location 

This store and company have perpetrated toxic work culture and lack of care or safety for their staff.
I resigned instantly after there was a gas leak in the area and my staff were scared and sick. Upper management did not act, I called Fortis and evacuated the staff. I was repremended for my actions the next day and resigned on the spot.  

I enjoyed working at the Langley Liquor Warehouse while I was employed, I was only there for a few months during the Pandemic before returning to my job and I enjoyed the friendly staff and environment. 

The management was very supportive and accommodating with scheduling as well.
