Linear Transfer Automation

I enjoy working at Linear, I have worked here for a long time now and the job is absolutely fantastic. Management is easy to deal with and approach, they are involved in all of the operations so everything is a team effort. Concerns are handled in a timely manner and everyone is treated with respect. 

The day to day work that is completed here has been rapidly changing from year to year. There is a vast variety of situations and jobs that you do here. There are similarities between jobs but they are all tailored to be application specific. This leaves you always learning and advancing your knowledge.

The quality process here from project start to project end is thorough. There are certain ways things are to be followed, executed and completed which doesn't leave room for errors. You are always encouraged to ask questions to improve your knowledge. 

The hardest part of the job would have to be the fast paced work environment. There is always work to be done and strict schedules to adhere to. There are times when you are working on multiple jobs at a time which all have certain deadlines. You gain great time management skills due to this. 

The company hosts various social functions for team building and as a thank you back to the employees for all the hard work being completed. There is usually a function monthly where the company will go out together or have a lunch in house. There is also a yearly family day where you can bring your family to a lunch and day of activities. This really helps you meet everyone in the company and breaks down the barriers between departments you see in some companies.

Excellent products with a great future, but unfortunately management is small, is not vision driven, and has deplorable people skills. 

Co workers are generally pretty good to get along with but there is a definite divide between certain factions of the organization. There is a noticeable "us and them" attitude which is also perpetuated through lower and middle management.

Chaos and disorganization ensue from day to day, and week to week. Instructions and directions are changed regularly to compensate for poor planing.
Many promises are made, very few are kept. This is especially true with annual performance reviews and pay scales. 
Many conversations on the floor with a shop manager or project manager  will not translate to actuality when it comes time to performing a job. (You find this out later when on site)
Remuneration is OK but the job is often long, dirty, and time away from home can be longer than originally planned.

If you are a young worker looking to get a start in the industry, this might be an OK stepping stone as long as you are able to stick it out long enough with minimal pay to learn something and move on.
Most of the smarter people moved on fairly quickly to better managed companies.

Linear is known by the by majority of the employee's as a revolving door. They fail to keep anyone around long term because people realize this place has no room to grow, terrible wages and absolutely terrible management/ planning. In the four years working as a controls technician, I have not once been on a job that was properly planned, or didn't spiral out of control. The managers DO NOT care about your life outside of work. They have basically no service team for the fact that the service position is vastly under paid, with high expectations and to be out of town majority of the year. This means they will force other departments to work out of town with little to no notice. The only reason I stuck around this long was to achieve my needed apprenticeship hours, I would not be with this company for any other reason. I STRONGLY DO RECOMMEND EVER WORKING FOR LINEAR.

Excessively long hours due to poorly managed projects, and lack of communication with respect to management expectations, schedules, and customer expectations.
Management level staff are poorly trained, very protective of their positions, and fail to listen to qualified staff when ideas, and suggestions are presented.  If you are not part of the "network" you have no possibility of advancement.  Vindictive, and petty are also words that come to mind when describing management. 
Co-workers try their best under the conditions, however everything is harder when it seems management is missing.
Hardest part of the job is unscheduled work shifts, and or extended trips out of town with no reasonable prior notification.
Best part of the job:  The owner is trying.

PROs  The people are excellent, a great crowd to work with - the product line is interesting and something new on your plate weekly. Break times are adhered to and encouraged.
CONs. Communication. Essentially there is none, nether good nor bad. There is some expectation of working very long hours. A 40 hour work week is not generally accepted as being enough regardless of the quality of work produced.

It was a good learning experience.Normal eight hour shift and lots of overtime. I had done a lot of work on CAD
Co-workers are good to work with and very helpful. Good Working experience.
The hardest part of the job is getting accustomed to the work load during the first 2 weeks.
The most enjoyable part of the job was doing the various design projects on AutoCAD and Inventor.

if you want a job where your manager harasses you, have no job security and get paid lowest ever, you're at the right spot. No scope of getting promotion in position. The reason I left the company is all of the above and unnecessary stress that comes with it. If you're applying, think ten times.

Worst place to work.. Management is blind with ignorance in their blood for employees..
No opportunity to advance within company culture.. Design team got destroyed in 2017 due to poor management.. 6 out of 8 designers left within 6 months so you can understand how this place is run..

This was a great place to work. Management was great  fellow employees where great. Everyone was so easy to get along with. They take care of their employees. 

The over all experience was great. Very good atmosphere and people to work with. Becomes like a family atmosphere with hard work and good laughs. Would recommend for every skill level. Lots to learn.
